Too Realistic For Me

Recommended Posts

Don't get me wrong I think they had good intentions with this game and I'm sure all the original OFP fans will like it but I just can't get used to the demo. I might still buy it but I'm leaning towards not. Realism's good to an extent. I love the sounds, ACUs, and the fact that you can turn the headlights on and off. But the thing that frustrated me and my friend is we were so inaccurate. I know being accurate with any gun takes practice but I like being able to snap the gun up and being accurate with almost every shot. And I have a pretty high end machine. Dual Core processor, 512 graphics card, 3 gigs of RAM, and a more than large enough hard drive. Not to mention a 6 meg cable internet connection and I still got lag.. My friend wasn't getting lag and neither was I until I played online with him. Then we played GRAW and I had no lag. I also think they should've waited a while longer to release the demo cause all the video I see make me wanna buy it but the graphics(they're not everything) in the demo are just not good. It's nearly impossible to see the enemy. And I don't think we're that well eqipped with just rifleman while the enemy has BDRMs, machine gunners, and RPG gunners. I think had I been involved with OFP in the beginning, I could be doing some damage but I can't beat that demo with all that lag and just an M4. But I'm not giving up on the game cause the videos and pix look too good. By the way I'm from the US so I don't have the full version of the game yet. But I hope I can grow attached to it as much as you guys are. I really do want to get used to it but it's hard going from games like GRAW to ARMA. Ma a ssalaama!

I didnt try the demo, but its not a SP demo so the mission is meant to be played on coop.

About the lag i guess its the server u were playing one.

About accuracy i guess u are used to GRAW and it takes time. The weapons, the aiming, ... are different, just practice.

i know ppl have had problems with accuracy in the full version of the game, because of fade ( anti piracy function in the game ), but i don't know of other problems with it, except lack of practise, arma is hudgely different than most other fps.

and, as for not seeing the enemy, life is a b..... well, to be honnest, i think that is one of the nice things about it, since it makes it harded, and, afther all, green camo does work in the woods :P if an enemy lies is the grass, you should have trouble spotting him, but same goes the other way too, i've had enemies walk a meter or 2 away, not seing me in the gras ( needless to say, they had to pay for that on a later time ), so that works both ways, and it realy does work. it's a battle field, and they use every trick they know, to get you before you get them, afther all, you should be doing the same, hopefully just a bit better

Another thing. Does anybody know if you get to pick your camo in the full version? Cause I saw some picks of people in woodland camo with boonie hats on. I'm a fan of the ACU but my friend likes woodland. He was saying how weird it is to see friendly troops with ACUs and woodland vests. I said that's actually common cause ACUs with woodland gear tend to help in wooded areas. Atleast that's what I've heard from real soldiers. But I'll probably end up buying the full version cause I liked Joint Operations until it was overrun with cheaters and glitchers. This game looks very similar to joint operations except the aiming system and there's a lot more attention to detail in ARMA it seems. The sounds of the weapons, turning on and off your headlights(cant get over how cool that is) and also how much more teamwork is required in ARMA. I'll have to be the first to buy the full version cause my friend was turned off by the demo so once I buy it and he sees how sweet it is he will probably do the same. I saw one video of an Abrams firing and it sounded so realistic. I know cause I've seen just about every combat video on the internet and one of em was in Fallujah and it showed a soldier holding his ears standing clear of the back of the tank and when it fired, he kept on walking. That's another thing I hated about Joint Ops. No attention to detail. All the sounds in that game were horrid. I mean really...everytime I heard the SAW fired in that game I felt like vomitting. Anyways, can't wait til this game is released cause I know it's gonna be bossome. Have a goodun.

I rather like that the game is so difficult, to be honest. The weapon inaccuracy, recoil, etcetera just thrill me. And let me tell you, it is CREEPY to hear enemy squad leaders 100 yards away in the woods giving orders, and not see them. I've done some quick night time missions where the crap hit the fan all around, and I never saw a single enemy. Ever. That, to me, is just cool. :)
