Curlydave
If I load up Ghost Recon, I can play one game. Single, or multiplayer, it will load fine. The next game I try to play however will always freeze on the loading screen. If it's the next campaign mission, multiplayer map rotation, I abort and start a new one, it will always freeze. The skull in the logo will spin like normal for loading, then it will stop, and the game is completely frozen. I can ctrl+alt+delete it to exit. Any ideas? I'm running Vista. viiiper
GOTO your crash log and post the last entry here you can find the log text file in: your graw folder file is "crashlog.txt"
Colin
Most of us who are running Vista have this same problem. In my case it may be Vid drivers still on Beta, but sound and or both could be the problem. It seems to be the map change cycle at fault. If you die say at checkpoint 2 mission 1 you can reload the same save point, but try and do a new mission or come out of missions and play MP it will freez. Try running the game in Admin Mod right click destop icon run as adminstrator. I put XP on a sep drive just to be able to play. Not much help Im afraid. Oh and the Log file error code has been sent to Ubisoft and Grin.
Devgru38
Hi, I've joined these forums in order to ask this question and hope someone has found a solution. Many people using GRAW on Vista seem to experience a crash/freeze when loading a 2nd map. Meaning that they are able to run the game, load a single or multiplayer map/game, however when returning to a loading screen for a second time (to load a different map). This game will either freeze (requiring an AltCtrlDelete) or crash to desktop. The solution that I have seen the most is this: 1. Make sure the user running the program has full control to the Graw folder and all subdirectories. It seems that this has helped no one. Here is my experience: -I have done this, I have given ALL users full control, I have run the game as an admin, nothing solves the problem. Please only reply if you run GRAW on Vista and have something worthwhile to add (either your experience with the issue, or suggested solutions) OR if you have a worthwhile suggestion. (Last lines are to ensure that this does not become a complain thread). Thanks, Dev38

Colin
We are seeing about 120 members on both forums with the same issue, this also seems to be the only issue across the board, which should make it easier to sort out. We know Ubi will not support officailly this they have already said, we might get some unofficail support though. If you do get this error please post your .xml log file on the post too, this will help. Control Panel Problem reports and solutions click on GRAW error. You should see this. ROCO*AFZ*
One of our clanmates fixed it by running the windows updates in Vista. I fixed my sound/lag issues with the creative driver ms just released. Have you ran the updates yet?

ROCO*AFZ*
Just as a recap... was it the windows update in Vista that set you back on track?
Devgru38
Uh... Yes and no. All I have done since I last played was run updates a few times, and now it works; so it was probably the vista updates. HOWEVER: The game remains very unstable while loading. I do not get freezes on 2nd, 3rd, etc map load that much anymore BUT I do occasionally freeze when I FIRST try to join a server/load a map. This generally occurs when I am running a freshly downloaded map (ie. I download the map ingame, restart the game, and attempt to join the server running the new map). I suspect this may be because my windows user (although I am the only user/admin) doesn't have "Full Control" over the newly downloaded map. (I have previously given myself "Full Control" over the entire Ubisoft folder. I haven't had enough experience with this problem to post anything definite so I'll repost/edit when I find out more. But yes, for now, the Vista updates seemed to solve the general 2nd map loading problem and make gameplay more possible.
Devgru38
Ok, sorry for the double post but its acting as a bump. I recently discovered that the problem is not completely gone. Map loading still freezes about 30 percent of the time. Sometimes first map load of the game, sometimes 3 or 4 maps in. But regardless, It still occationally freezes on mapload. ROCO*AFZ*
Try this in vista as it may help. to give users full access go to C:\program files\ubisoft. Right click, properties. Security. select user and give full access. Anything in program files is protected so this or installing it outside of program files is the only way to have full control for standard users. BTW this works for games in XP also. If you don't have the tab (security) go to windows explorer, folder options, view and at the bottom uncheck simple file sharing (in XP) This may help you. I've been working with vista for a bit and GRAW 1 issues.

LARSA
I made a complete reinstall of drivers using Driver Cleaner first. Using windows update drivers. And a clean reinstall of GRAW + 1.35 patch as administrator. Then i run GRAW as admin. It worked for a while, but now its freezing again when loading second map. Using Vista home premium 32 bit. I will try the new ForceWare Release 158 Version: 158.18 Release Date: April 17, 2007 Beta Driver tonight and will post the result here when done. EDIT Looks like it fixed the problem with freezing GRAW when loading second map for me. Played for two hours this afternoon without any problems.
