Rocky 1,224
I'm still trying to think of ways to use my 10Mb broadband that I got recently, and now this! From May 2007, our flagship XL broadband service is going to be twice the speed it used to be - up to a supersonic 20Mb. Although the existing 10Mb service is already four times faster than other industry players1, we've decided to step on the gas and double the speed. 20Mb down and 768 Kb up! Awesome! You think you had it bad, In MK we're not allowed to put a rooftop aerial up so Virgin (previously NTL) is the only way to get terrestrial channel = CHECK Even better, we live in a rented executive apartment and we aren't allowed to put up a SKY dish = CHECKMATE Believe me, the wife is not happy, about the only things she watched on TV were 24, Lost and Bones, all I ever watched on TV was BSG. All gone with no SKY One
Rocky 1,224
The whole Sky v Virgin thing that lost Virgin customers the 3 Sky channels is an attrocity really. Even though I watched 24 on Sky One, I'm glad Virgin never caved in to the Sky price hike for those channels. Now Sky have to deal with all their advertisers, lobbying for a discount due to the reduced viewer figures, oh dear how sad. Branson is saying he'll have the Sky One shows back on Virgin soon enough, so I can wait. Sky playing mind games with the customer base really turned a lot of people off, the majority of the feedback in the digitial forums and Virgin newsgroups is that even with the loss of those channels, most people are staying put rather than switch to a provider that plays stupid games with the public to get them to switch. The whole "Virgin Doesn't Value Sky" campaign they ran was so low I wouldn't switch to sky even if they were cheaper, just out of principal. The bummer for Dai is that Sky are pulling Sky One from the freeview channels, so you can't even get it on that anymore. I'm sure either the watchdog or Virgin will have it resolved in less than 2 months though. It's like when Sky did the same thing with some childrens channels, they increased the price and Telewest refused to pay, until the loss of revenue started to hit Sky and all of a sudden they managed to come to an agreement. dporter 1
Yowzer! That's a fast connection. That is a pretty fast download speed but only 768kbs upload speed is somewhat slow. At our old house we had cox cable and it was around 10mb download and 3mb upload.

Was that ADSL or Cable? In the UK a 768 upstream is very fast for cable, and not widely available. We were on 128Kbps for a long long time, and back then we were told it would never get any fatser due to cable restrictions!

On their fact sheet it says supposedly that cable can only get up to 2mbps Link So I must have had 2 and not 3 mbps.
