Tinker
Need to get all your squad across the map into the G line. Only then will a convoy pass by, containing supply trucks.
Kyle_K_ski
Thanks for your advice Tinker. Once I got C element over to the G line, I got the notice that the convoy was on its way. Hell of a fight. The suppressing fire had to be total. I just wish that the friendly-AI was more advanced. All of the shooting was done in the first 20 sec., and had both of my elements simply and immediately scrambled to where I ordered them, I could've finished the inspection and rendezvoused with them and avoided completely any further engagements. BUT because they took their time to move to the designated locations, the counterattackers were able to engage us twice before we were able to get far enough away to avoid any further detections. Great mission, nonetheless. Now I need help with Mission 5. If I try reloading it, it crashes upon loading. I'll see the loading screen, and then hear the sound of the waterfall before it crashes to desktop. If I restart the mission entirely however (repicking the team and gear), there aren't any issues till I want to reload again, then it's another CTD. I'm supplying two Ike logs below, in case they can help. Tinker
PITA mission! Not really SP friendly. Plays fine coop though. You cannot place the boats in the water in Igor, as it is not a floor. I had to teleport them to effects to make them look like they are in the water. If you reload the engine has to recreate the scene, it does not know how to put the boats back in the water and crashes.
Kyle_K_ski
Don't hit a single key in replying to the following, but it's more than a little strange to read that it's not possible for an engine to recreate a scene that was created by the very same engine earlier! I completely believe you, but how bizarre game engines can be. In all of the years that I've contributed to mods for a variety of games, I've come across some pretty weird limitations that seem so obvious that it makes you seriously wonder what the engine designers were thinking when the built it the way they did. This, I guess, is one of them. Doubtless, you worked up some pretty powerful magic to conjure up those zodiacs the way you did, I just wish that your powers in using the Force were greater! Time for you to have a one-on-one lesson with Yoda. Well, I'm going to really test my endurance on this one. I'll give Mission 5 at least three solid chances before I cheat my way out of it so that I can continue the campaign, but I'm loathe to do it, as even if I'm failing badly on a mission, I'm happy to hit reload till I finally figure out the proper tactics to win it properly. Tinker
Check 2 posts up for an answer on this issue. Save / reload will not work for this mission. You can use the console if needed and type in unlockhero and autowin if needed. I do have a fix for it, but maybe next weekend before I can get it done. Will require a new model. Idea is to move the vehicle mesh 2 meters away from the helper groups, so when placed on land, the boats will actually be in the water. Kyle_K_ski
I do have a fix for it, but maybe next weekend before I can get it done. That's very kind and considerate of you Tinker. Can't wait for the fix, as it's a terrific, nail-biting mission. Thanks in advance. I don't even know if it's possible to reach the individual that one needs to talk to at the village. I spent 15 min. trying to time out the patrols that saturate the area. In the end, it's likely that the strategy I'll try is perching elements B and C on opposite slopes near the village, and just send element A in through that mess of patrols to reach the informant. Before I go, it IS possible to quick load Mission 5 if one does NOT create a quick save. If a quick save isn't made, and then one hits quick load, the mission will start at the very beginning, but still, this is one of the most heavily enemy-saturated maps I've ever played on, and in light of just how many patrols are around, it's expected that one of the element's is going to get caught sneaking around. In spite of my statement of "giving up" after three attempts, I still haven't. Once I stumbled upon the "quick load OK if no quick save" feature, I played that mission from scratch easily a dozen times. Amazing stuff! Phlookian
Idea is to move the vehicle mesh 2 meters away from the helper groups, so when placed on land, the boats will actually be in the water. Hi Tink, Maybe you should try to put the boats into an <n> group inside the vehicle body if you want to try this idea (you'll need a mesh for the body group but that can be underground) The space between the wheels will probably be impenetrable to man though If the boats aren't to move you could try the same idea but export it as a fixed weapon (no collision plane)
Tinker
Unable to find the original files for the boats at present, looks like I deleted them.
Kyle_K_ski
Bummer. Are there any chances of an update, or...? I hope that you find the files regardless of whether you actually update them to fix the mission or not. Lost assets are always a frustrating experience, especially after all of the time poured into them. Good luck to you on that!
stripeyrob
Does anyone know nhow to get round the problem of not being able to save in the Village Meeting mission on Blood Oil? If I save the game but try to go back to it I get CTD. Edited November 28, 2010 by Pave Low Post merged with the existing Blood Oil thread. stripeyrob
Can anyone help me past the inability to progress past the meeting with the village elders? I cannot save the game and then return to it later as it CTD. I have tried various team make-ups but after the meeting it gets too cheeky to not save it. Edited November 28, 2010 by Pave Low Merged with your other post on this, You only have to post ONCE in ONE forum and in the correct thread. twcrash
Hey Everyone, I am playing through Blood Oil in coop with friends and ran across this problem here: It happens when I select the Restriction "BO Specialist Check" The face is white, you cant change kits and if i try and change players it crashes the game. I uninstall BO a couple different ways (adding and deleting the High and Low res stuff as well thinking that was it) The game plays fine as long as I dont choose that restriction. Also the mod order is this: Desert Siege island Thunder Blood Oil Thanks in advance if its something i did on my side lol. Tinker
That file is not in the full release version, as Hammer stated, it was used for checking characters in the beta versions. Serves no purpose, besides showing to set up different .kil files I guess.

RileyFletcher_01
Two ways to do this easily. Put the tigerstripe .rsb files in the Blood Oil textures folder (C:\Program Files\Red Storm Entertainment\Ghost Recon\Mods\Blood Oil) Put the tigerstripe .chr files in the Blood Oil character folder BACKUP the Blood Oil actors who you want to replace with tigerstripe (e.g. mp actor files). Go into each file you want tigerstripes and change the ModelName, LOD2, and LOD3 lines to the tigerstripe .chr file (e.g. <ModelFileName>tigerstripe.chr</ModelFileName>) Or easier way if you have tiger striped actors..... BACKUP the Blood Oil actors (.atr files) you want to have tiger stripes. Change the tiger stripe actor's filenames to the same as the actors you are replacing. Copy the renamed tigerstripe actors over the ones you want replaced.
Namjagbarwar
a highly complex process for me
RileyFletcher_01
Shouldn't be that hard. Go ahead and try it. If not, I might be able to rig it up for you
