CoreDuo2 MacBook sound problems?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've installed Ghost Recon and all required patches (through 1.4) on a new Macbook CD2. The game starts and runs fine. I even get the music.

But no other sound. Nothing.

Checking the sound options shows all sounds on and at 10. I've tried reinstalling several times, as well as rebooting. All other games, and anything else, have no sound issues...

Here's the system setup:

Machine Name: Mac

Machine Model: MacBook2,1

Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo

Processor Speed: 2 GHz

Number Of Processors: 1

Total Number Of Cores: 2

L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB

Memory: 1 GB

Bus Speed: 667 MHz

Boot ROM Version: MB21.00A5.B00

SMC Version: 1.13f3

Intel High Definition Audio:

Connection: Combo

Any thoughts greatly appreciated...this is my all-time favorite game. Do I have to go back to my trusty iBook? :wall:

OK...it gets even weirder...

The problem only occurs using headphones (yes, any kind). Music, yes; everything else, no.

Unplug the headphones, and you have all the sound. Plug them back in, it's all good.

Must be some sound driver problem, but damned if I know. I've been using Macs since the lady threw the hammer at the Big Brother screen back in 1984, and I've never seen anything as voodoo messed-up as this...but then it is the BLACK MacBook

Anyway, at least me and my love are reunited for now. Any ideas are still welcome...

Stephen
