Ghost9
I've been playin the pc version for a while now and I recently got a 360 and decided to get GRAW for it since i heard it's a completely different game. I have to admit I think GRAW PC is waaaay better than the 360 version. Even with the jags I think pc looks better graphically. My point of view is pretty much about the multiplayer. I've only done a little bit of single player on both versions. Player movement, sites, detail, sound, all of it seems way better than 360. PC seems to have way more detail way 360 has an almost cartoonish look. I have to admit that I was surprised by this. I really thought that pc version was supposed to be a step down from the 360 version. But PC rocks. it rocks hard.
Hockeystick
Yeah, I thought the 360 version would be better too. As some of you know I bought a 360 about a month ago, so I wanted to try GRAW 360. I borrowed it from a friend and when I played it I must say that I was a bit disappointed. First of, the team. You can't give induvidual orders and just like in GRAW PC your team gets crazy and runs all over the place when taking fire. Jyst stay behind the wall and lean stupid! However, on the PC they do take cover a bit better. And no, I'm not a fanboy, I played both versions and RSE are great but come on, no induvidual orders? Second, weapon choice. Quite often you can't select a new weapon for a new mission. Ex. In Mayday Mayday I was stuck with my sniper rifle from the last mission. Also, why is the bazooka your primary weapon? And who carries around 10 rockets? Third, weapon cabinets. This is just wrong IMO. I mean, on the second mission when you have to destroy a tank on the street you have to change weapon on the top of the parking building. On the PC version a Black Hawk lands and lets you change weapon, that's cool right? On the 360 however it's just a weapon cabinet on the roof, for no explainable reason! Why would the US army leave a cabinet full of ammo and sophisticated weapons unguarder on the top of a building? It doesn't make any sense. Anyway, RSE made a pretty solid game but I would definitely not want 360 port for PC. Edited January 12, 2007 by Hockeystick
Pritzl
I came to the same conclusion just going by what I've read/seen about the 360 version. The lack of individual orders and busy interface alone would have killed it for me.

Brettzies
Overall, I like the PC version better, but the x360 is still a fun game. Graphically, I don't know. I have the PC version maxed out at 1280x960 and it does look amazing, but all of the characters look really cartoony to me. In some ways I think the x360 is cleaner in its presentation and graphics. So, graphics is kind of a toss up. Good and bad points for both versions. busy interface alone would have killed it for me. The x360 HUD is ridiculous. This is what I hated most about the game. It's just way overdone. Combined with the overly contrasty lit areas, in addition you have this bright blue hud graphics, it's just a mess. Plus that blue inset outline around the whole screen. Completely annoying. You can turn parts off, like the diamonds on enemies and friendlies and the arrows that dance around the edges of the screen like some 1980s aracade game, but then it becomes almost way too difficult to just see the enemy because of the lighting, graphics and just overall gameplay. Not to mention that when they want to make the x360 difficult, they add noise and snow and distortion to the HUD so you can barely see anything. Any sane person would just remove their goggles if they couldn't see through the video snow. My god, do they think we are idiots? Despite many complaints about the x360 version, it's still very good as a game. Personally, I'm glad they are different game styles even though they share the same plot and objectives. PC Graw has just as many complaints, however I do think it's a great game as well.
Strapt
oh.... and just when i thought it was time to get a 360. I honestly thought the 360 would be better. I guess you can't tell anything from video footage alone, then. Thanks for the info

I guess you can't tell anything from video footage alone, then. Thanks for the info I've seen and played on both versions (admittedly briefly). I think each individual needs to decide for themselves whether they like it or not. I plan to get a 360 and GRAW for it.
Ghost9
I wasn't trying to say graw 360 was a bad game, cause it's not. I just like the PC version better. If you're picking up a 360, get Gears of War. Best game ever. though not very tactical persay, but amazing graphics and insanely fun gameplay. i'm addicted to it. Agent Smith
Rundown of 360 vs PC version: Graphics ----------------- PC wins. The ability to display at 1680x1050 compared to 1280x720 (Which is 720p) makes the world of Mexico look much more sharper. Not only that, but the stock decals are more refined, shadows are better looking, and the character models are actually awe-inspiring. Every time I see Mitchell's face in the 360 version, he looks like a baby's head with an elite soldier's body. I'm serious. There's like no facial detail at all. Lighting is slightly better on the 360 (Mainly specular), and animations are MUCH more realistic on the 360. Sound --------------------------- PC again. The voice acting is SEVERELY cheesy in the 360 version (For god's sake, don't pick Paul Smith! His voice acting is the cheesiest that I've ever heard!) However, the weapons and explosions sound more powerful on the 360 version compared to the PC version. The PC version makes the assault rifles sound like pea shooters. Controls -------------------------- All about preference here. I kick ass with both controller and KB + M, so it's a tie for me. The lack of individual orders is indeed noticeable, but it's not really necessary considering that the AI of your Ghosts is actually better than I expected. The "cover system" in the 360 version is quite lacking due to the lack of a button to snap you into cover. You have to actually walk into the item in order to get into cover. Gameplay ------------------------- Mexican AI is stupider on the 360 version, but there are more soldiers and longer firefights. The 360 version is indeed more about run and gun compared to the PC version. However, the PC version wins the cake if you want tactics. Overall ------------------------ PC wins. Why? Mods! BigOlBrain
Well I have both and to be honest I think I like the pc version better over all...but I tend to go back and forth. GRAW pc is a good game but it is so badly optimized and that's my main problem with it. No reason for it to run as bad as it does. As far as graphics go though the 360's single player is hands down the better looking game. Easy I would say....however the pc version of the MP looks better than the 360s MP for sure. The big factor for me though is you run slower in the PC version and I'm a big fan of the 1st person gun view. And that's why I like the PC version better over all but they are both good games. Fiammeggiar
Overall ------------------------ PC wins. Why? Mods! I received GRAW for my b-day in June; I'm just now getting around to playing it. I spent about an hour after install picking & choosing amongst the mods on ghostrecon.net, installing and then uninstalling the ones I didn't like (the 3rd person mod looks cool but just isn't very practical). Kept:- Reduced Sepia Reduced (Clean) HUD Blood Mod Special Forces Skins Playing at 1680x1050 16x AF 55-60 FPS Athlon 64 X2 4800 MSI K8N Neo4 SLI BFG 8800 GTS (oc'ed) Audigy 2 2 Gb PC3200 (1 Gbx2) Gateway FPD2185W 21" Sony MDR-V600 Cans I'm a graphics-whore, so there really is no comparison for me
