TheoRetiKule
Has anyone ever done this? Ideally I'd like to start a mission with sensors already in position (which would have been stealthily planted during the previous mission - if that's possible itself - is there any way of placing a sensor as a trigger like DemoChargePlace or is that just a hole in IGOR?) Or is there a work-round of making everyone inside a defined zone visible on the command map? I'm suspecting none of this is possible, but it'd make a nice double-mission stealth-and-kill-'em-all sequence if it could be done... Thanks all!! Buehgler_AS
To my knowledge there is no way to know if/when/where a sensor is placed. But it is technically possible for you to simulate the sensor effect by checking distances of actors to a location and showing them on the command map if they are close. Unfortunately, I think you would need to do this by looping over all the enemy actors every few seconds to decide who to show and who to hide, and that could lead to some lag issues (depending on the number of actors on the map). Maybe you will want to either use demo charges as surrogates for the sensors in your first mission, or just trigger your simulated sensor based on a player being in position at the sensor location for some amount of time (e.. 30 sec). With the second option you allow the player to carry a secondary of choice....
Tinker
Nice idea with Demo Charges Buehgler. I suppose if you split a large building into 4 zones, you could place demo, depending which zone you placed in would light up enemy within prox of that area? Can`t script sensors Tinker
Dodger
You could also place allied captives in hostage mode on the map where you want sensors. Anything they see will show up on the map.
Buehgler_AS
Nice idea with Demo Charges Buehgler. I suppose if you split a large building into 4 zones, you could place demo, depending which zone you placed in would light up enemy within prox of that area? The way the OP was worded, it seemed that the first mission would require the sensors to be placed at specific locations, so I did not worry about deciding where it was placed. If you want more flexibility about where it is placed I would "litter" the area with effects and see which one the "demo/sensor" was placed near (this is probably much more involved to script than it is worth) to trigger a "script" based senor scheme. You could also place allied captives in hostage mode on the map where you want sensors. Anything they see will show up on the map. That's a cute idea... Would allow for a visual sensor as opposed to the magic ones we have be default. I'm wondering if that could be made user placable anywhere with some creative teleporting... Need to think about that one some more.
