WhiteFeatherII 0
Since reformatting the computer, GR's been choppy...taking fps dives all the way down to 6 fps inside buildings. I've cleaned and reinstalled GR, updated, and tried a few different video card drivers, and tried the pinned frame rate tweaks topic, and a few other things people have posted in other topics about thier bad fps... The game worked perfectly, everything ran smoothly before I reformatted. Looking straight up at the sky I reach 60 fps, but when I look horizontally, towards any trees, buildings, etc.. the game fraps out. It IS a legal store bought copy of GR Gold Edition. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 1/6/2007, 12:52:24 Machine name: ******** Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: NVIDIA Corporation. CR6 0
It looks like you have an older system - Athlon 1.2 and original GF2 card. What resolution are you running the game at? First thing I would suggest is turn off all the shadows. Next is turn off tree movement. Also avoid running other apps in the background.
WhiteFeatherII 0
Tis' an old machine : ( Use to run the game at 800x600, but it still lags even at 640x480 I've set all the graphic options low as possible too. (A defrag didn't help either) Edited January 7, 2007 by WhiteFeatherII
Lightspeed 273
but the cheapest crappiest video card you can find - it will improve your game heaps.
GreyHaired 0
"Integrated gpu". Have you checked in BIOS if maximum RAM is allocated to the graphics? Otherwise pm me a mail address - I got a 32 or 64MB graphics card (AGP) that you can have. Edit: another thought: rightclick desktop, click properties, settings, advanced, monitor. Check the box: "Hide settings this monitor cannot display" Then choose the highest refreshrate. Refreshrate max 60Hz set by XP: I don't remember if any of the Service Packs resolved this problem but there is a small util "Multires" that you can install and choose the settings from. http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/multires.shtm
DonMiguel 11
watch for the compressed textures option in GR. Some cards used to really drag down on this due to DXT compressed textures. if checked, uncheck it and see what happens.
WhiteFeatherII 0
Thanks but no thanks GreyHaired, keep your graphics card. And I'm not sure what you mean with the refresh rate, just up it? If so, didn't help either.. I've unchecked compressed textures and messed with just about all the graphic settings in GR to no avail. And an interesting-ish note: If I play on maps like Embassy/Red Sqaure, Large Docks (not small) it works fine. But on ones with trees and..for some reason.. small docks and training, it fraps out, I've tried the the togglemovetrees command too, but it doesn't help..
