hangtime8705
Okay, I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but I have. When I play certain MODs like Frostbite or the new CENTCOM (A GIFT FROM GOD BY THE WAY LOL) everything works fine until I take a look at the helicopters. In other words, whenever the cutscenes play, showing your team being inserted via helicopter, the frame rate drops DRAMATICALLY, like it takes 5 minutes for the helicopter to land, when it would ordinarily take like 30 seconds. I'm a Mac Ghost Reconner and my system has the following stats Powerbook G4 RAM: 1.25GB AGP Graphics Card: GeForce FX Go5200 64MB VRAM Hope someone has a way to alleviate my problem. Thanx fellas. Dannik
First thing that comes to mind is you may have vehicle shadows on. If you do, turn them off. It won't affect gameplay, but it should lighten the load during cutscenes, assuming it is turned on.
El_Davido
You havent got an especially powerful PC Im afraid. The dust that helis kick up are hard on system resources. The G4 is only 1.5ghz and your not running an especially high powered graphics card. And as for Centcom, the blackhawk, Huey, Cobra and AH-6 are mine, and except for the Blackhawk they are all lower in poly count that the standard GR blackhawk. El_Davido
I thought I mentioned that? Prehaps not, the Blackhawk and humvee are 4 times bigger than standard textures, ajd the AH-6 I cant remember what that is, I think its 512 like the standard Blackhawk, and the Huey and Cobra are twice the size. They definatly would give you a resource kick as the RSB's weight in at around 12meg for the Humvee, but Im damned if they dont look good! sleeper
Your Blackhawk for example is 2048x2048 whereas the stock Blackhawk is 512x512. That makes yours 16 times the size, not just 4. Textures are two dimensional. Yes, they do look good though.
El_Davido
Indeed they do, and for me I dont have an especially powerful system and I dont get any system resource hitage on it really. Anyways glad you like it Sleeper.
El_Davido
I saw this sleeper, and thought, man, that boy complains both ways! Hey, those models are looking fantastic but I do have a bit of constructive criticism to input. I think you should go with some higher resolution textures. Most vehicles in the game have had lousy low res textures and being such large elements in the game it really stands out for me. From what I can recall, most of the vehicle textures are somewhere near the same size that the human models use, that's just not enough in my opinion. By GR standards those textures you've done look fantastic but I think you guys can pull off even better just by using higher resolution on them. Just something to consider.
