I've noticed that when I host a game on Gamespy, people are able to enter the room, but are not able to enter the game. It appears that there may be a version compatibility issue. Is there a "standard" version, and how can I tell which versions of the base game, DS, and IT I have? I'm not sure how to tell if the Gold package is current on all the patches or if we need to patch but it seems like patches would work backward, so we must have a more advanced patch than is available to everyone else. nib 0 Posted April 15, 2003 Share Posted April 15, 2003 I don't think that's quite correct Crimson. I have GR Gold and after installing GR and the two expansions, you can not install any patches. When you attempt to install 1.3 you get a message stating that the installed version is new than the patch. When you try to install the 1.4 patch it says that you must have 1.3 installed before you can install 1.4. I played last night with just a vanilla GR gold installed (no patching) and was able to join and play fine. I haven't tried to host a game yet though so I don't know if that would work or not. Did this by installing in order, GR, DS, IT & 1.4 patch. It didn't ask for the 1.3 patch. Strange that your getting this? Quote Link to post Share on other sites

From what I understand Gold already is patched up to the newest version,1.4, there is no need to download and apply any patches. I had reinstalled GR about 6 times or so and i was told by forum members to install GR, DS, IT and the 1.4 patch. Nothing about a 1.3 patch, etc came up. A friend of mine had GR Gold and has not mentioned anything to me about patches, etc. GR Gold can't be that different...can it? So, if you're installing the normal, original GR, then the two add-ons, you end up at 1.3 and need to apply the patch. This doesn't appear to be the case with the GOLD release. It appears to be patched to 1.4. However, none of this helps the original poster other than the fact that he should ahve the most recent version after installing GR gold, the question is, why can't he act as a server? That's what the original poster and myself are talking about. Sorry, no I wasn't talking gold. So I think the poster that mentioned the those not being able to join game not having 1.4, is probably right. Maybe the best thing to do is get somebody with a non gold installation that is patched to 1.4 try and join Longtass's server.
