Guest Jester
Anybody here do any home recording of music and digitally mix on their computer? Anybody have any experience with any Cakewalk software?
WytchDokta 6
I write all my trax on me 'puter. I'm a digital DJ; I can't play no instruments, instead I make the riffs for the instruments on my 'puter. Much easier. I have heard of Cakewalk, but I ain't got no knowledge of how to use it. I have my trax here somewhere.... I save my trax as .mp3 formats then burn 'em to CD. Digitally mixing is a piece of p|ss
Dannik 43
I do a mix of pure digital and analogue recording, and have found that Acid Pro and Sound Forge provide the best balance (for my needs) between sequencing and live audio.
Parabellum 12
Anybody here do any home recording of music and digitally mix on their computer? Anybody have any experience with any Cakewalk software? Sonar is excellent. Pro Audio 9 is also good, but lacks some of the built-in editing features, and is, in my opinion, more of a resource hog. Stay away from Home Studio if you can. It's really not much better than the much more suitably priced N-Track Studio. By the way, ProTools makes a FREE version of their ever-awesome audio suite. It's fully functional, just limited to 8 tracks at a time. It's quite the system hog, though.

WytchDokta 6
You could always try "Reason". It has a digital drum-machine and a(professional) sampler built in, unlike most other music packages.
