ROCO*AFZ*
I have a "friend" that may be picking one of these up extremely cheap to play GRAW. Any idea what to expect for FPS or playability (looking for someone with similar specs). I am thinking shadows off, medium with post effects low, 800x600 will be playable... maybe squeeze 1024x768 but not shooting for it. It's a powercolor 256mb version. The pc is an athlon i think 2.0 or near 768mb of ram. Anyone try this card (or a 256mb 9600 pro) in graw?

Expected it to be great, but unfortunatley only ran near fine on the lowest settings. I quickly bought new and sent it to Smudge as he only had a 64MB Card and didnt play GRAW. I had a Standard 17" Monitor at the time. Sorry i dont have any piccys, it was ages ago, but it was a dissapointing moment for me at the time. Tinker I'm not expecting great but 800x600 maybe some medium settings. GRAW's demo wasn't optimized so i think it will get what i expect. Correction also... it's not a 2ghz but a 1.7ghz athlon which = probably a 2.2ghz p4. I think it will run (does graw check the cpu actual speed? anyone?) Thanks for the reply Tinker. CR6
Anyone try this card (or a 256mb 9600 pro) in graw? If I'm not mistaken, I think Dannik has a 9600 ...
Dannik
Yep, and the GRAW demo was pants. It ran, but there's no way I would step into MP with it.

LOL even my 6800GS was pants in the demo. Now i'm at 30-45 fps at 1280x1024. Maybe i should reword... anyone currently STILL using a 9600 PRO 256mb version lol. Curious on performance above 1.20 patch.
chiles4
I think you're going to be sorely disappointed. Try 800x600 with everything either LOW or unticked(off) and keep your fingers crossed. Even still, your frames may be too low. At best, the frame might be close to playable but you'll get some serious glitching.
Jake Hansen
Just to show what can work . . . I have a Radeon 9600 Pro AGP (Omega 3.8.252 Drivers) with 128mb and had no problem running the demo at 1024x768 with "high" for most settings. Once again, that was with the DEMO. My wife gave me the full version for Christmas. It was lag city with high settings at 1024x768, but it ran pretty well for the single player at 800x600 with all settings on (except S/L) and set to low. It didn't look too bad either. Once again, this was with 128mb memory on the 9600. I'm also running that in a system with a 2GHz Pentium 4, 768mb of RAM , and a 1150mb page file . . . according to game specs, it is below minimum. There is a down side . . . I don't know whether below/at minimum specs has anything to do with it, but when I tried to add a sniper scope to my SCAR options (using Nutlink's great tutorial), the changes did not kick in. I wanted to start from a clean copy and try again, so I unistalled and reinstalled the game . . . Now I get the dreaded "A required security module cannot be activated. This program cannot be executed (6000)" error when I try to start the game. So far, defragging, the Symantec "backdoor.agent.b.html", and the "regedt32.exe" fix haven't help with the problem. I don't think this is a graphics related issues, however. As I said earlier, it looked pretty good at 800x600. Yep, and the GRAW demo was pants. It ran, but there's no way I would step into MP with it. LOL even my 6800GS was pants in the demo. Now i'm at 30-45 fps at 1280x1024.
