Bob The Nailer 0
here's the deal. i have ventrilo and so does my friend. he gathered a game on a "popular" gaming site and we had 3 other people in there. when he lauched from the staging area to the game only us 2 came in. ventrilo is a seperate entity so i didn't think that could've been the cause but for the other 3 players to drop seemed odd. and one was in a clan so he must've had the island/dessert package (i considered that) and we weren't running any mods. anyone have insight here. NightCrawler 137
Highly unlikely that Ventrilo was the problem. What other info can you give...such as was everyone on Ventrilo? or just the two of you? What ver of GR where you running? You did test Ventrilo before all this occured and it did work OK right? If you continue to have mishaps private message me and we'll get together on Ventrilo and work it out.
Bob The Nailer 0
it was only us two who had ventrilo and we have the gr gold edtion. and ventrilo works for us when we use it. maybe they didn't have gold gr but that one guy was in a clan so i find that hard to believe. i'm surprised how many people don't have gold. maybe that's all it was but i'm new to ventrilo software so i have no idea. NightCrawler 137
There is one other thing I should've asked though, what kind of connection to the net are both of you using? Ventrilo does have an effect on some that are dial-up users.
Bob The Nailer 0
no dial up for us. broadband and dsl. hmm.
NightCrawler 137
Well then...all there is left to add is that Ventrilo has been extensively tested by my friends and I on most operating systems with the exception of Windows 98. So therefore that leads me to believe that it was either the other players' PCs or a connection issue.
Bob The Nailer 0
i think you've helped me work this out. thanks
NightCrawler 137
Do tell what the problem was, and how you fixed it. I may need it for future reference.
Bob The Nailer 0
i wish there was something that i could tell you definitively but i think it might be a patch problem. i'm looking into that in my "ghost recon versions" post.
Sgt Rock 0
Here's the deal. We used to have people join Longtass' server and play with no problem prior to Gold. We both bought Gold and upgraded. The same people are not able to join, even though they have DS and IT. The Gold start up screen shows version 1.4. The only thing I can think is that it's the base product that's at release 1.4, but DS and IT need to be patched? Unfortunately, we can't get anyone to tell us why they couldn't join after trying. NightCrawler 137
Sounds like that is the info that we're hunting for. So let me see if I have this right, you both can join the current server with ventrilo no problems, then you have some companions the used to be able to join before you upgraded to Gold. So these companions they aren't communicating their problems to you, right. And they aren't using the Gold just the first 3 and 1.4. Still sounds like a connection issue on their end. What kind of pings do you normally get off the server that you are using. Have you ran a util to check packet loss? Something like VisualTrace.
Rocky 1,224
The only thing I can think is that it's the base product that's at release 1.4, but DS and IT need to be patched? If the version number is showing as 1.4 on all machines, that's all you need to know - you are all running the latest version, no more patching required regardless of what mission packs are installed or not. If I am reading this right you are being sidetracked by the comms software, run a server with no mods and no comms software and see if you can all join or not.
