Cpl Ledanek
I heard it flushes counter-clockwise in Australia. Its supposed to be affected by the Earth's rotation and the relation of the location to the equinox??? mid line of the planet??? line that divides the season??? ...these are some good mushroom........ *yum* *yum*
pz3
i tried asking snow fellow about this for like 30 minutes one night but i forogt why I never got an answer. I think its commonly been confused with the oceans currents as they do move in diffrent directions as seen here More information Here about why its false. Just tryed doing an experiment. Filled up sink tested water current. Was moving counter clock wise. Waited ohh 10 minutes and the surface water was still moving counterclockwise at about the same speed. Rocky
I heard it flushes counter-clockwise in Australia. I am 90% sure that's what I got taught at school too, it's a myth though.

WhiteKnight77
Update. After thinking about this tonight while doing dishes, I checked out which way the sink drains (I had done this the other night with a full sink of clean water) and being able to see which way it actually drains due to the soap, it drains clockwise while my toliet flushes counterclockwise. The difference is, the toliet is a low flow jobbie that was installed here at the hotel I am staying at. It has a jet that directs the water in a counterclockwise direction thus forcing it to flush counterclockwise.
Rocky
WK, find a game to play, you clearly have not got enough on your mind at the moment.
Cpl Ledanek
my side side of the sink flushes clockwise, my wife's side clockwise, upstairs toilet counterclockwise, powder room toilet, clockwise....hmmm let me try the tub... pz3
Read that link I posted it explains a lot of stuff.... Gravity is stronger then the spinning of the earth for example and both forces are by comparison very weak. You can see that just by lifting your arm it takes no effort at all to counter the force of gravity. So if you feel your sink up and it creates a counter clockwise motion it would take hours and maybe even days for the earths rotation to turn it back to a clockwise rotation. feel like im in 8th grade again but my stupid teachers would always teach garbage half truths or whole lies. Gav80
Gravity is weak, Prozac...? Really? The force that can hold the southern hemisphere "upside down" without falling off the bottom of the Earth? The force that holds the planets in orbit round the sun? Escape velocity on Earth (ie the speed you need to "fire" something into the sky if it is to break free of the Earth's gravitational field) is in the region of 11km (just under 7 miles) per second!! Gav80
Yeah, I had a bit of trouble with the anti-spam filter Rocky put in... Wonder if I should draw any hidden meaning from that...?
