Stopping Power 0
Does anyone know what round the Ghost Recon MP-5 fires? I was wondering if it was the 10 millimeter or 9 millimeter Parabellum round. I can't find the information on this weapon. Anybody know? Please also post where to get this information from. Marcinko 1
I'm not positive, but the model in gr is a a2 or a4, i belive the a4 fires 10mm, and the a2 9, correct me if i'm wrong.
ReconSnake 0
It is a MP5 in 9mm in the game. The 10mm MP5s use a straight mag while the 9mm version uses the more commonly seen curved mag. I never saw or heard of a 10mm version being used by any US military forces. The FBI used them for awhile, but I think they use the MP5s chambered for .40 cal now - not 100% sure of that though. As far as the alpha-numeric name designation, here is a key I found a few years ago - H&K' website or maybe somewhere else, I can't really recall: A1 Buttcap Only A2 Fixed Stock/Full Auto A3 Retractable Stock/Full Auto A4 Fixed Stock and Burst Group A5 Retractable Stock and Burst Group A6 For SD only retractable/Burst Group Edited April 13, 2003 by ReconSnake
Viper 0
Some of those are not entirly correct, like the MP-5SD5 has a fixed stock, 3-round burst and an integral supressor, the MP-5SD6 is the same with a collapsable stock, but only the ones with 3-round burst are now in use by most military forces, those inculde: MP-5A4 & MP-5SD5 with fixed stock and MP-5SD6 and MP-5A3 with collapsable stock. Only the US navy uses a MP-5 with no burst, that is a collapsable stock version called the MP-5N. another way to tell that the GR MP-5 is a A4 (as the 3D model sucks) is that it has a 3-round burst, the 10mm and .40 cal versions all have 2-round bursts becouse of increased recoil of the rounds. ReconSnake 0
The USMC uses the MP5N too.
Viper 0
Yes, that's right it does - my bad. sweet weapon to clear a room with, small and controllable on full auto ... "room broom" like the MP-5K CLARK
BlueMan 0
aren't the marines part of the Navy?

Zantar45 0
Heres a link to a video of the MP5 & MP5-SD firing semi-full auto. Go Here . *You need QuickTime to watch.* *sometimes a error occurs, just close and reopen, keep trying eventually it will play.HK Pro is where the vid id from, their vids sometimes do that* Here is a video of the MP5/10mm & MP5/40 S&W Go Here *same as above video, Quicktime needed & errors sometimes occur* Go Here to see the MP5SD in action! Everytime I see these videos I go and play Rainbow 6 for hours on end. The MP5 in GR is the MP5A3 9mm version, if it was any other caliber, they would say MP5/10 or call it MP5-10mm like they call the 7.62mm Rifle which is either the FN FAL or the HK G3A3 (of course there are other models, but these 2 are the most used ones around the world-especially in Africa & the Middle East) Later gotta take care of some tangos and save the world, simple things. warhawk 0
Just as a side note, the USMC is a department of the US Navy so the answer to blueman's question is yes. That's why those of us in that are either still in or were in call the Marines our "ugly red headed step children" in fun of course. The Marines have been an integral part of the US Navy since the US Navy's inception I believe. They go as far back as John Paul Jones' day. Hence the words in the Marine song, "From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli" I know for a fact that there is at least one staff member here that can shed further light into the Marines strong and proud history. Marcinko 1
They are a department of the Navy, they get there budget from the Navy as well, at least for equipment as i've been informed, dont remember the numders, but it's not a great deal of money, i think more should go to Marines, but thats just my opinion. Harms 0
In the old British Navy fleet, each ship had it's own compliment of marines, I believe. That's where it all started.
ReconSnake 0
Technically speaking the USMC is stovepiped under the Dept of Navy. It would be incorrect to assume that the USMC and Navy share the same gear just because they fall in the same pentagon dept though. The Commandant of the USMC is directly under CNO in the COC, who is under the CJCS. The United States Marine Corps was unleashed on the world by an act of the Continental Congress on November 10, 1775 to be a kick-ass landing force for the navy beans. Tripoli came later Semper Fi!!! Marcinko 1
Just don't forget, the Navy has a ground force, the SEALs HOOYAH!!!!!!!!
ReconSnake 0
The SEALs are great at what they do, but they do not have the capability to fulfill the USMC role.
Marcinko 1
I agree fully
Cpl Ledanek 247
during bootcamp, it was mentioned that the Marines were used as snipers for the Navy Fleet...did such a great job, that Navy still uses the Marines for its security onboard. The Marine Corp Hymn or song, "From the halls of Montezuma..." was sang somewhere in Philadelphia... Tun Tavern...omg...WhiteKnight help me with my History The Navy's ground forces: SEALs are for Spec Operations...unconventional or conventional warfare. The US Marines are under the Department of the US Navy. Marines keep the ships safe, Navy gives them a ride...During Army/Navy games, you'll often see a US Marine Patch on one them players for the Navy.
Marcinko 1
Well i gurantee u wont see a USMC patch on a SEAL, I havent seen but one or two with armpatches anyway, they dont like to advertise
Cpl Ledanek 247
I've seen a US Marine Gunney or a First Sergeant compete in a Rangers competition on ESPN2 and won..... I've seen/ or read (getting old here can u tell ) that a young Major in USMC participate or trained with some Royal Marines and got recognized.... I've seen Marine Force Recon trained with SEALS during CAX... But I've yet seen/heard/read about a US Marine qualify for a SEAL training... Being that they are in the same Dept, couldnt the a or a group of Marines do this?
Marcinko 1
Do what? become a SEAL through bud/s training yes, as could a SEAL become a Force Recon Marine, through that program, not sure what it is , i think thats what ya ment.
