Papa6
why i say this is OPENGL as it is now seems to be close to if not equal to Directx. They deal with shaders, bump maps and the like. But it's open source that doesn't leave us at MS's mercy. open source is always being improved and worked on and the OS is free. so if you can get your OS free, pay for the games...what's really to lose? not much

There are very few opengl games... serious sam was probably one of it's best.
Stormin
I couldn't agree more Rabbi... I recently had to reformat my HD and have not re-installed GRAW... I support GRIN in their endeavors for sure... Still waiting for the next patch (if any) to re-install it, maybe.... So for now, it's GTR 2 Racing... And BTW Rabbi, Thank you for your service to our country... You are a true patriot... I wish you well, my friend... =ADF=Cormac
I love this game soooo much but it never took off especially in Australia which makes me cry. I havent played much lately and can see me playing less because of the popularity issue.
Vox*BDA*
I hope people here check out Armed Assault.(www.armed-assault-zone.com) If you're looking for a game that asks you to use terrain, various military units, weather, time of day,etc to your advantage in a massive realistic combat simulator , than look no further. This game deserves attention as do its developers. They left codemasters and made it on their own. They almost didn't get published untill a small publisher from Czech rep. took them on. I believe the future of FPS in the vein of [GR] is small dedicated groups who will use limited graphics with extraordinary intellegence. I want smarter games, not flasher ones. FEAR is a good example. I played it on a high end machine and while the visuals were stunning the story and the climax ween't. I felt it fell short of the hype...but it did scare the ###### out of me..LOL. As far as I'm concerned when I'm [GR] style games I want to use my brains and get the thrill of exciting action. SWAT 4 was a great idea, but cumbersome and a little slow. But it made you think..and when plans went wrong you had to react. This is the key to a game that engages your whole brain. You can then feel a sense of accomplishment for tactically outwitting the game. GRAW had few moments of this nature. Generally linear, the few times your choices make a differrence you are forced to do something that seems nonsense. Like assault bunkers with 4 guys. Sure. At least in Flashpoint you have the option of sitting 1.2 miles away and sniping them with a barret. Armed Assault will be a good game but almost defineatly with flaws or cutbacks. However, Operation Flashpoint enjoyed an enormous amount of modding. Truely great stuff was produced and still is being made today. 5 years later. The modding of Armed Assault will be very similar to Operation flashpoint. And I can assure you great things will come from this modding community. Do you think in 5 years anyone will play FEAR or GRAW? Not unless they are heavily modded. And Ubisoft have made it intentially hard for modding since the beginning.I mean how could they think no one would want to mod GRAW? did they do a google "ghost recon mod" search? Rabbi I hope you give Armed Assault a chance...I know you don't want to..LOL . Keep safe...and whenever you feel like leveling the place...try an AH64 in Armed Assault. Papa6
i think OFP had a pretty line of sight. when you look 600meters through a scope, you look 600meters. GRAW [GR] and the others could never do this. what i REALLY hate is some folks have no clue about snipers. i hate it when peeps type in the chatbox telling me to move. but in OFP a motionless sniper benefits the team. @Vox BDA, yeah i agree, you hit what it was i trying to say all along but never could say it. Papa6
for those of you who are hard-on fans of GRAW don't be. GRAW has to be the worst excuse and the greatest waste of effort to create. Damn, I keep getting booted! this game SHOULD be named GR: always disconnected. kind of like shooting craps, you never know what the dice will show. I DEMAND an apology from UBI and GRIN for this 4 CD waste of PC harddrivce space. crap for my $50 i deserve a hell of a lot more than complete silence and being ignored. maybe Grin needs to contract out the MP net coding. Diesel sucks farts from a bathtub and gamespy is for sludge sucking noobs who have no clue how to game on a PC. GRAW2 will be another suck of resources and a waste of yet more harddrive space and if Diesel is used again don't waste your time! why the hell would any idiot want to pay a ton of cash and upgrade to Vista only to find out that the game is another waste of time. advice: DO NOT EVER!, upgrade your PC for one game. 9 out of 10 times you'll be disappointed. I hold GRIN AND UBISOFT personally and financially responsible for blatantly ripping me and everyone else who feels robbed off. there is absolutely No excuse for this crap to have happened. I'm so sick of patch after patch and after bloody patch only to have the same bugs and problems exist. I'm NOT going to buy GRAW2. I'd feel awefully stupid upgrading my PC for GRAW2 only to be sitting here again ###### beyond all belief! Shame on you UBISOFT and GRIN. a wise man once taught me, the first impression is the lasting one. this BS will be engraved in my mind forever Edited November 15, 2006 by Papa6

It's a freaking game.. good or bad.. you took a chance, it did not work out... move on.. As everyone else says .. you should have tried the demo first LOL.. no harsh tone intended.. Papa6
no-no, most if not all people here upgraded their systems to run GRAW. there was that website about how well your pc would run games and gave you an estimate. @irishstout, yeah it's a game, but i play them to unwind from work and relax. please don't patronize me about this. there are requirements here in the US for fitness of products and those that don't work as promised. All i had to do was buy a video card. My 6800GS is doing me well and i'm still AGP. Total upgrade 250$ FPS 1280x1024 @ 45 FPS with 25mhz overclock on card only. Previous card was a TI4600 Ultra. Good for GR1 but didn't make the Grade for even BF2. So upgrading was a benifit to all my games. Also note i asked GRin what card they were testing GRaw with. It was my card (in the video before demo release) so i knew what i was getting. (note pc was the same specs also... 3.0 ghz p4) Future upgrade... will be a core 2, board, 2gb mem, and probably an 8000 series of some sort. Well I like GRAW, and I am for sure not waiting for BF2 like games where you can use plaes, armour and such, though I'd love to see more vehicels in graw, and maybe the option to use mounted guns on vehicels.... or order vehicels to drop you somewhere..... (thus guiding them, instead of driving yourself)

I DEMAND an apology from UBI and GRIN for this 4 CD waste of PC harddrivce space. crap for my $50 i deserve a hell of a lot more than complete silence and being ignored. First off, who are you to tell people what to think? Just because they disagree with you doesn't mean they're wrong. Second, GRAW was supported very well for over 4 months, more than you can say about many other games out there these days. maybe Grin needs to contract out the MP net coding. Diesel sucks farts from a bathtub and gamespy is for sludge sucking noobs who have no clue how to game on a PC. Words can't even describe how childish this makes you look..... GRAW2 will be another suck of resources and a waste of yet more harddrive space and if Diesel is used again don't waste your time! why the hell would any idiot want to pay a ton of cash and upgrade to Vista only to find out that the game is another waste of time. Just like every other game coming out in the next year? Try the new Splinter Cell, or what and see what Crysis has in store. Games are making more use out of the hardware than ever before, and hardware is getting better by the day. See the dilemma? advice: DO NOT EVER!, upgrade your PC for one game. 9 out of 10 times you'll be disappointed. I hold GRIN AND UBISOFT personally and financially responsible for blatantly ripping me and everyone else who feels robbed off. Personal preference if you ask me. Besides, like it was stated before, any upgrade to your system isn't going to benefit just one game. Wouldn't it be smarter to see how the game runs on your current hardware before deciding if it's worth upgrading for or not? That would allow you to do two things: 1) Decide whether you're going to be playing the game for a while or not. I upgraded specifically for Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. I have been playing that game on a regular basis since well before April. Do I think the upgrade was worth it? Hell yeah. 2) Decide whether or not your current rig allows you to play the game at what you think is reasonable. If your current rig doesn't handle the game well and you think you'll be playing it for a while, why not upgrade? there is absolutely No excuse for this crap to have happened. I'm so sick of patch after patch and after bloody patch only to have the same bugs and problems exist. I'm NOT going to buy GRAW2. I'd feel awefully stupid upgrading my PC for GRAW2 only to be sitting here again ###### beyond all belief! We didn't get "patch after patch after bloody patch." What we DID receive was "MP Pack after MP Pack after bloody MP Pack." They just happened to add a few bug fixes here and there with these map packs, much like Halo 2's map pack for the XBox. As for upgrading your rig, see above. Shame on you UBISOFT and GRIN. a wise man once taught me, the first impression is the lasting one. this BS will be engraved in my mind forever And it has also been said never judge a book by it's cover. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone learns.
