what's funny is that the GR.net community has always revolved around tactical games like GR and R6 series, never the arcade shooters like Battlefield or Joint Ops... well, guess what, ArmA will NOT be a tactical game, or at least not as tactical as the ones where player VEHICLES are NOT available! BF/JO/Soldner and so on have never offered a true tactical experience, and even OFP was way too unbalanced for me. so if you enjoy getting hammered with a Vulcan jet cannon from a mile away, feeling completely useless against it with your M4 - it's THE game for you.

i bet foot soldier combat will be non-existant in this game. whatever you see in the videos is just marketing. unless your weapon of choice is an Abrams, Apache or a Mig - you're gonna hate the gameplay.

I guess you never played OFP. OFP really offered options, you can play matches with vehicles or without. I also always believed that OFP was way more tactical than GR. Armed Assault looks even more tactical than OFP. And please, how can you even try to compare BF/JO/Soldner to OFP? COOP was simply awesome in OFP!

Looks pretty wild. And yes, though they were not in the video you just saw, AH-64D models ARE being made for this game. ;)

Rabbi, this will be the game for our crew!!! Hope you will be around when it comes out.

theef - very narrow minded statement.

A game with vehicles is still tactical, even the BF series - maybe not the tactics you were used to, but tactics all the same.

The fact that vehicles are in the game, does not mean the game will be a BF-type game. My understanding of OFP series is that there are, as Rubleman stated, options, many many options.

Some MP Leagues did not allow the use of vehicles in battle - just infantry. If that's your flavour, then you've got it.

For the COOPers, choices galore, and modding galore. Where GR had its limitations - I feel confident that ArmA will fill in all the gaps. Not only that, but now, we will actually get to enjoy the chopper, boat, vehicle insertions and extractions.

BIS are so damn experienced in this now - they know what the players wnat, and they're gonna deliver.

ArmA as stated above, gives players options. See you on Sahrani.

Footsoldiers can carry TAW's, Javelin's and Stingers...that worked quite well in VBS1.

Unlike JO or BF2, in VBS1 it was usually one shot one kill (providing you knew how to operate the weapon ofcourse), just like it should be.

So you might be thinking you're safe in that little tin can in the sky...untill you'll hear a loud bang and finding yourself face down in the mud.

I'm sure they will be included in ArmA aswell ;)

I think you dont know what you are talking about.

I dont really feel like wasting y time answering to this, I guess its become a standard in the GR community nowadays to be wrong and say bull.

Anyways, if you are openminded, and really up to see what arma IS about, feel free to visit some community sites where you can read a lot of info about what OFP/VBS and now arma really are.

Even if they release a game which hasnt much enjoyable gameplay modes in it for you........open up the ditor and make whatever you want. A world of joy might open up for those looking forward to real strategical games.

But thats my humble opinion as a VBS1 player, really looking forward to the next best game after Ghost Recon (VBS1 isnt considered to be a game)...............Ghost recon 1 to be sure you know what I mean!

This is quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever read on the internet.

For everyone else, please observe this video of two AI soldiers using

during a fight. You can now also hear things the enemy say to each other over their radios.

The horror.

Editor - Double click on vehicle of your choice. Select "Locked". Congratulations, no more player controlled vehicles.

The Vulcan and M4 are both on the American side, so let's pretend you meant a Shilka.

Now, you could use a LAW.

Or an RPG.

Or a Carl Gustav.

Or an AT4.

Or a demo charge.

Or an AA rocket.

But just for the hey, lets say none of those existed, since we pack the M4 only kit. Elitez.

Flashpoint, being a game, (Unlike the HIGHLY REALISTIC ULTRA SIMULATOR GR) lets you compromise for a lack of AT/AA weaponry (Never mind the fact your comrades and enemies carry them around all the time). This compromise being a ton of grenades. I’ve taken out T80s with simple hand grenades many times in MP, a lot of them, but still hand grenades non the less. If you run out of hand grenades, your just trying to lose.

As for getting shot "a mile away", cover works well for that.

i bet foot soldier combat will be non-existant in this game. whatever you see in the videos is just marketing. unless your weapon of choice is an Abrams, Apache or a Mig - you're gonna hate the gameplay.

Until you realize you can remove them in under two minutes via the editor. Tanks are garbage in towns, and helicopters cant touch you in the forest. Both are scattered all about the islands.

Its one of the easiest games to make missions for too, so if you've got an idea for something you can easily make it into a mission, even if its just getting from point A to point B and killing everything inbetween, if you want to spice it up there a pile of user made scripts you can use too so if you wanted a dynamic chopper extraction to wherever you are on the map then you can put it in, if you wanted a stealth mission where guards would be noticed if you didnt bury the bodies that can be done too, flare traps, units that track you and hunt you down, calling in artillery strikes and air support is all possible. I'm no genius when it comes to scripting all this but its all over at the flashpoint editing centre, click on the editors depot link at the top of the page then the scripts on the left and you'll have an idea of what you can do, I'm assuming that ArmA is going to to be coded similarly to flashpoint and VBS but I really cant see it being that different that all that lot would have to be rewritten.

Wow, I didn't know it could do all of that!

This is why it is a shame that some people might have stopped playing OFP after being turned off by the graphics.

Give it a chance, and eventually you realise that you can do pretty much whatever the hell you want with it. Airstrikes, fast-roping, HALO, all that stuff. Then you have the enhancement mods that upgrade the effects and AI.

Just yesterday a mod was released that not only makes the effects better, but improves the AI to such a degree that they will drag a wounded comrade to safety, then administer medical aid.

ArmA may not look as good as some of the other games being released now (though I think it still looks pretty damn good), but most of these games simply do not have the replayability and modability of the Flashpoint series. This is why the OFP community of both players and modders is still bustling after five years. Not even Ghost Recon can compare.

If some ppl are so narrow-minded as not to give this version of OFP a chance then they're too stupid for you to worry about.

This is what I do when I see ppl being negative about it before they've tried it: :<img src=:'>
