JTF-2
nice work Swartz. It looks much more in preportion now. About making the holes. I have never tried Alfa blending et all, but from what i've seen it looks like a really good solution. Also, as you said, it save a HUGE number of pollys
swartsz
it save a HUGE number of pollys i hear ya, tried to make the rails with the Boolean tool, almost doubled the polycount. but i have had a close look at how Earl did it for his Standard Upgrade weapons and i think i will try to copy his technique. and i will do the holes also with the texture, i think i will get some good results that way, hopefully
JTF-2
haha! ya, i learned a lot just from staring at some of his un-textured renders. no joke.
swartsz
added a scope to the weapon, have a look next up is the texture, it needs a lot of work before it will look right, i might just add some camopaint to hide some problem area's. not sure yet. swartsz
Looks good swartsz. When are you gonna be releasing all your new weapons? thanks Aggressor, i can't take all the credit for it, DSV1 has been so kind to give me a sample of his RIS, so i could finish this model. don't know when i will be releasing the new mod but i won't be long. there are a couple of weapons i want to give a try before i start my new job on the 16th of june, which will take a lot of my time. so you can expect a release before the 16th.next up will be a G36C-SD ( if i can make it ) Edited May 26, 2003 by swartsz

Incubus
Everything is looking great Swartsz. Got any pics of the MP5 with the camo I made? I still haven't seen how it turned out, and therefore if it needs a little more work. In about 3 weeks, I am beginning work on a new military simulation game. Considering the scope of the game, I don't expect to be finished with it until sometime late 2004 or early 2005. Needless to say, I won't be working on anything GR related for quite some time. swartsz
sorry Incubus, completely forgot about the mp5 camo, will make it tomorrow. I am beginning work on a new military simulation game please tell more
Incubus
I don't have a lot of details to give at the moment, but the sim will encompass all aspects of the modern battlefield. Ground, air and sea combat. Think something like Battlefield 1942 or WWII online, but with better and much more accurate physics models (3 of my closest friends who just happen to be aerospace engineers will be helping out with that). Unlike the aforementioned games, this one will take place in modern times rather than the second world war. So far, implementation has started for both ground and air units; with sea coming later on. I'm quite excited about this project, but shudder to think of the hours I'm going to be putting into it every day. Graphics will be intesive, as the idea is to not only provide an accurate simulation; but to also allow the user to immerse himself within the game world. GeForce 4's will be working hard to keep this one going. During a test sequence I used my home workstation which is comparable to most systems on the market today, and 34 frames per second was acheived. Some of the important specs of this PC are Dual Pentium III processors (1 GHz each), 512 MB DDR SDRAM, and a GeForce4 Ti 4200 video card. Considering my processors, RAM and video card are all 'old' technology now; I'm sure in 16 months, the average PC will have no problems running this program at high frame rates. Sup
What program are you making the models with?
Incubus
For the more simple models, like guns and tanks (those with few round edges), 3DS MAX 5.1 works fine. More complex models are built in Alias|Wavefront's Maya. While 3DS does have the ability to model these shapes through NURBS and patch grids, it's just easier to do IMO in Maya. ---------------------------- Getting back on subject; Swartzs, when do you expect to have the mod finished. After looking at all your expertly crafted guns, I'm anxious to take an hour or two away from work and play a game of GR with those weapons.
