philminatz 0
Greetings, I have recently installed my old GR on my computer. It works fine with original install. But when I intsall the 1.3 (OR 1.3+1.4, I've tried both) Patch and then tried to play, it froze before starting on a black screen with my taskbar at the bottom. One of the tabs there says "Protection Error". Any Suggestions? Thanks Here is the ike.log: ***** User's system configuration ***** CPU: GenuineIntel 3000 MHz Pentium 4 RAM: 1023 MB O/S: Microsoft Windows 2000 5.1 Service Pack 2 build 2600 Ghost Recon (RELEASE) version = 1.3.5.0(0) RSDisplayMgr::CreateGameWindow: Creating a 1280x1024 window at 0,0 on monitor SONY SDM-HS75 attached to NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 RSDisplayMgr::CreateGameWindow: Game running on primary display SONY SDM-HS75 attached to NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 HAL (hw vp): NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 R5G6B5 RSFILEDATA: FindFile could not find file ike_fx_fire_type2.tga RSFILEDATA: FindFile could not find file ike_fx_fire_type2.rsb Unable to find ike_fx_fire_type2.tga anywhere. philminatz 0
I managed to work around the problem. I downloaded and installed the Frostbite mod, which comes with its own launcher .exe. Once I launched Recon with that, it somehow enabled the regular Recon startup with no problems. Now I can start Recon the usual way.
