Marcinko
Do me a fav Prozac, for the love of god make a 10" barrel, no one uses the 14.5 anymore, and you should look into the H&K models, the 416, 5.56 NATO and the 417 7.62 NATO, both very nice weapons. But good work on the m4 man.

SnowFella
Not bad for one of your very first models mate Looks a heck of alot better than my first handful of models did for sure! Here's current progress on my GR:AW M4A1 SOPMOD. (texture for the rifle is still very much beta but the suppressor and vertical grip are just about final (with colour, specular and normal maps) Edit: Just to show off the effect of the normal map and Specular map on the Vertical grip. Left is a screengrab from 3dsm, Right is rendered with colour, spec and Normal maps applied. Snow
NoQuarter
Here's current progress on my GR:AW M4A1 SOPMOD. Excellent work! Have you come up with a solution to the height problem on the optics? Spacer?
SnowFella
Yeah, I've already modeled the spacer and just need to texture it. Problem right now is that my computer went belly up a few hours ago and I've been forced to reformat. All files are saved on a second drive but for some reason Windows won't install again. So I'm more or less in limbo land here

Evilducky
just reading online tutorials and fiddeling around. This is the tutorial I used from the net: http://www.oman3d.com/tutorials/3ds/polymo...ealth/index.php That picture gun had an uber high poly count (9000+ ) but I managed to cut it down to 2564 count now and it still looks like a gun.. Now on to learning to texture for this game.. >.< Heres the lower poly counted model with some better textures (some mspaint, some photoshoped and some just defult colors..) Just need to learn to get all the textures onto 1 file.. This has a long way to go before its even as good at these other people. Diffrent mount? or no 203 lol well i know this isnt to me but it mounts on the bottom rail and i geass the 203 barrel would be a bit put from the end of the barrel or something close to that
Marcinko
Negtive on the mk 18(designation for 10 in barrel m4) and a 203, have to use the standard 14.5 inch barrel bro.

Couldn't you still mount an M-203PI? You might need to work on the lower rail a bit ... but it should at least physically fit. Do any of the Mk.18 / M-4 CQB-R weapons still have the removable lower rail panel like the M-4? Seems like it would be rather pointless ... SnowFella
######! That's more or less how I've planned to mount the M203 to my M4 SOPMOD model as I'm not sure how a bottom attachment of only the lower part of the rail will work out with animations in GRAW. I did have a good bit of a hunch that something like an M203 won't work mounted on the 6 O'Clock rail as it's to heavy. Guess I'm going to have to do some testing and find out if I can add bottom attachment without it altering the characters handplacement.
EricJ
No the 203 itself is not that heavy, light in fact. The mounting bracket would be the heaviest part. However, if you go to Military Morons there's a GL that is rail mounted, though I can't remember the name offhand. Or the reference picture link that Dallas posted awhile ago on the VBS1 Resources site.
Viper
Yah the PI version of the M-203A1 will mount to the lower picatinny rail of an M-4 instead of clamping onto the barrel as the normal version does. Not only is this easier to install but makes the launcher compatible with weapons that have been upgraded with free-floating rails systems. I don't think that they are very common at all though, I hardly ever see them. Clark
philkilla
I never saw one in person in my 4 years...than again, I was air defense.
EricJ
No they aren't common. The US Army has alot of M203s so it's more economical to just use them as is. Whatever they decided to get for the future is up to fate really.

Viper
My guess is the Army does not even have any; they were probably made as a privet venture in the hopes that the Army would pick up on it ... which I don't think they did. That does not mean that the Ghosts in the future could not be using them though Clark
