BOTA:X
A copy of XP would probably be a better OS to run that game on than 2000 Server.
FI_FlimFlam
Mecha, I replied to your post on the ubi forums. I'm not sure why it's not working. There is another person running win2000 server and is having trouble as well. I'm wondering what the common denominator is - perhaps it's win2000. I attempted to run a dedicated server on my win2000 workstation and couldn't get it to load properly. which is at least on step better than you. The server console would start and indicate it was loading a configuration but didn't list it. Normally it tells what config is being loaded. Do this for us. List the contents of your servers_shared.xml and the graw_server_YOURCONFIGNAM.xml files so we can look at them. Secondly give us the hardware specs of the server and lastly, watch what happens and give us a very detailed behavior of what happens when you try to start. Like, Click on GRAW-standalone.exe, black window opens. Says loading and then crashes immediately. Or something like that. I'm just trying to get as much info to work with. ToW-Angel
GR:AW will not run on anything below WinXP... I believe this to also be true of the SADS. Edited September 17, 2006 by ToW-Angel
FI_FlimFlam
I was incorrect in my earlier assessment of Win2000 W/S not running the SADS. It does run and I am able to join the server - it just doesn't llist the config file in the server console screen. Which is odd. So it most likely should run on Win2000 server. I'm in agreement with Roco, the pathing used in the shared_servers.xml may be the culprit. The pathing convention they are using is not standard windows/dos which uses backslashes between directories. In the XML file it should be using forward slashes. This might be causing the server to not locate the config and then crash out. Also - check this line in the config file: <no_cost_weapons value="false"/> - this indicates that you want to have tac points used for purchasing weapons which i'm not sure is a setting for [GR] COOP. Try setting it to true. I would attempt that first and get back to us. If that doesn't work, I'll setup a Win2000 server to test and see if I can reproduce your problem. Take your server.xml and copy it to your local machine. See if it runs. Then you know if it's a win2k problem or not. Or, set one up on your local pc and upload the xml without tweaking it. Test it. Good call on the no cost... not sure if OGZR mode checks this but if it does like it used to with side switching, it could be a culprit. ilovemecha
yeah sorry about the slashes going the wrong way i was testing that but i have set them back i would like to reiterate that my settings work with my 2003 server but do not with my 2000 server so the line is back to looking like this <standalone_path value="/Settings/servers/graw_server_coop.xml" /> as for not runing on any thing but win XP i am not shur thats the case as like many have side that it does run with win2003 server and in this thread alon some has run a SADS on win2000 server its just odd that i dont get any responce i dont get a cmd window or any cpu usage
FI_FlimFlam
well upon further review on my win2000 workstation rig, it actually wasn't loading any config at all. It was defaulting to a domination gametype. I know that I did have the path and config files correct. I'm wondering if there isn't a problem with win2000 specifically. I'll attempt to load 2000 server in the next couple of days to test and get back to you if I can get it to work or not.

-CONAN-
If it doesn't run right after installing a fresh copy, try having them plug in a mouse. Worked on 2000 and 2003 so
Slow
On the server I'm refering to there is [GR], jo, cod, bf2, cc, il2, f4:af, and some other games I can't remember. Graw is the only one that won't run dedi. Prolly some .dll that wn2k dosn't like. No real point to this reply... just trying to keep this thread alive. Maybe someone who knows might notice. ilovemecha
yeah i wish a higher up would at least try to comment about this and sorry but i have no idea why a mouse would make a difference as "-CONAN-" suggested ?
Colin
Ubisoft Tech is the key player here, they do all the testing on servers. Put a ticket in. I would say that the guys that have been replying to you know as if not more in some cases than the Publisher, they certainly give a lot more educated feedback than Ubisoft. Stealth-IRA
OK, I have read in other threads that other peeps have stated that you need to have the Ageia drivers installed on a SADS box in order to have SADS run. Is there anyone that can confirm that fact????? Point being is that I went to the Ageia website to get the drivers and that it states that the drivers are for "XP/Vista RC1" only. Is this the culprit???? So downloaded the drivers and installed them.....they actually installed......however STILL NO GO
