Giampi
Jack57 discovered a new reality for GR: being the enemies! If you enjoyed Band of Brothers be ready for Brother in Arms since it will surprise you. Just a small anticipation (I hope Jack57 will not complain about this scoop ): the insertion and extraction are wonderful! Sometimes I think that I should pay him having the honor to be his beta-tester!
Jack57
Sorry I missed this Yes it's nearing completion - hopefully I can release it this month depending on what errors my beta testers find Jack
Sup
Will there be any new weapons ? How big will the file be? ? am I asking to many questions ?
Jack57
It's a campaign mod which mainly uses existing files. No new weapons. Some modified graphics and sounds. Not server-side only. Looks like it will run out at about 7.5 MB compressed. Cheers, Jack

cajun47
im playing band of brothers right now..love it. just finished the swamp mission where u r the lone solider with only a sicelenced 9mm pistol. jack57 does some great writing. i rather his single player mods than the [Ghost Recon] missions. i must say it again, i really enjoyed the ending of postcards from preu! Jack57
just finished the swamp mission where u r the lone solider with only a sicelenced 9mm pistol. Hehe, that's one of my all time favourites along with the Castle map mission (in BoB) where you have to kill the turncoat. There is an assassination mission in Brothers in Arms where you have to sneak into a house right under the noses of the Ghosts and do the 'business' - it still makes my heart race even though I've played it countless times in testing. Guess you could say I'm rather partial to stealth missions although there is a good spread of mission types in BiA. Cheers, Jack
Sup
Great, do you mind telling us what IT levels you're using? I can't hear enough about BIA
The_Slink
Jack you do like stealth missions. They are excellent though. Can't wait for this. I mentioned that some of your missions weren't always great for replayability in the PfP(?) thread. I've now thought/remembered of a way to add randomness to the missions. If you assign a Random Number (That right? I know there is one. It's used at the start of the DS missions for the voice when you insert.) Then you assign a different plan for each team if that number is selected. This won't work for everything but patrols will wander around differently each time you play the mission. This is, I admit, extra work but it would add enormously to some missions. <takes deep breath>
Makk
will it work on co-op mission mode? (because i think the others don't work on co-op right?) (please..) Edited April 11, 2003 by Makk
Jack57
@Slink, no it's no extra work at all - already done Many of my missions use randomizing in some way or another. As for random plans a usefull tip is to use patrol zones - you can use many overlapping zones in the same plan (I have used up to about 10 or so) and the team will wander around at random, starting off in a different direction each time the mission begins. The trouble with randomizing is that the potential for problems increases exponentially - you have to test all the possibilities carefully. The biggest random factor is of course the player because no two people will go about a mission in the same way. This is where good beta testers (like Giwex) come in to play - he always finds ways to trip up my scripting that would never occur to me @Makk, yes it is being enabled for Co-op. BoB is Co-op also, although you may get some lag in some missions where there a lot of vehicles and\or effects. Sup
Will it have missions involving large scale combat against large enemy forces (like the middle missions of BoB), or small skirmish style fights (like a lot of pfp missions)? Or both?
Jack57
There's no large scale combat because unfortunately the IT maps aren't as frame rate friendly as the originals, so the amount of activity you can have is limited. Jack
yeutinh
Oh Doh ! If only GR is abit more like CS by allowing a massive firefight with heaps of ppl on both side fight it out ... But anyway, I have always like your mod man, good stuffs and keep it up, looking forward to BiA ... PS. Is there anyway of smarten those AI up ? My teammates always end up getting themself killed in BoB If it was real-life actions, fighting like the AI will definitely not make it to spec-ops level
Sup
Great, I tend to prefer small scale combat.
The_Slink
Sounds good. Is there a more precise ETA yet?

The_Slink
I hate to ask again, but how much longer?
Giampi
Don't worry The_Slink! Jack57 didn't forget to release it. At this time he is working for the final adjustments. I'm playing Brothers in Arm every day to find every possible bug but to tell the truth this is a job I love to do Unfortunately I have also to waste a lot of time of my day to work in the office I guess not more than a week to wait...... Jack57
Yeah sorry about the delay - I'm also turning up a few MP issues so I want to get those sorted first. Jack
