Bahger
I took a break after completing the singleplayer game and having some fun with coop in earlier versions. With a tweaked system and all the patches, GRAW now runs better than it did before and I must say, whereas SP is occasionally difficult, sometimes frustrating, I'm still a fan. I like coop. For me it may be the basis of this game's longevity. Yet I showed up here this morning for the first time in a while to witness accusations of betrayal and perfidy flying about re. GRAW coop and the latest patch. I'm just curious: Apart from the four-player limitation, would anyone care to list for me the issues which make coop so disappointing? Meanwhile I have a few questions for coop-ers: - Does anyone not preoccupied with emulating [GR] coop like GRAW coop? - Are most of you coop-ing on ded or clan servers or regular pickup games? - Is there anyone out there using TS voice comms in GRAW coop? - Are there many people coordinating GRAW coop on Xfire? As I said, just askin'. I'd like to blow off a little steam with some GRAW coop but preferably with mature players, people who are not permanently furious with Grin and with voice comms. Any takers? Any places worth visiting? Edited September 12, 2006 by Bahger
KEVMAN68
I have been one if not the biggest whiner about coop. I am still checking things out but what I have tried has made me very happy. After downloading & installing the patch, I dusted (literally dusted) off my GRAW box & checked it out. I don't think I'll be posting anymore as I will be playing now. I hope the modders will be able to hash things out because I think you guys are the best around. My bitching is over. Thanks GRIN & Testers. To BoGrin.....This Troll is out.<-------that was a joke Bo. Laters

Buehgler_AS
Meanwhile I have a few questions for coop-ers: Well I participated in the beta for this patch, so I have had about 2.5 weeks of experience with the new coop features. Beyond that I have about 3.5 years of GR play 98% of which is coop. - Does anyone not preoccupied with emulating [GR] coop like GRAW coop? The [GR] gametypes were interesting the first few times through each map, then you realize that all the tangos are in the exact same spot each time and the real challenge is to memorize tango locations rather than execute good tactics. The GRAW coop mode has been significantly improved with the removal of the game over because TL died problem, but there are still many many limitations that make it very difficult to play with any regularity (can not run on ded server, no waiting room, 4 player limit, etc.) - Are most of you coop-ing on ded or clan servers or regular pickup games? - Is there anyone out there using TS voice comms in GRAW coop? - Are there many people coordinating GRAW coop on Xfire? Those of us in Alpha Squad that are playing GRAW (there are about 4-5 of us) plus our guests will play on whoevers machine and network connection is the most stable that evening. The issues with 100% CPU utilization by the dedicated server system make it unreasonable for us to run it on our server which is still serving GR games regularly. We never play w/o TS -- visit this page for details about our TS server if you would like to play with us. As I said, just askin'. I'd like to blow off a little steam with some GRAW coop but preferably with mature players, people who are not permanently furious with Grin and with voice comms. Any takers? Any places worth visiting? I will be surprised if you can find "good" quality GRAW [GR] mode play after about 2 weeks, but that is just my guess and opinion. GRAW coop requires coordination to get started, so stop by our TS and see if anyone is interested. But do not be surprised if you find a bunch of people who say "sorry, we are having a blast playing these GR missions, why don't you join us". Strapt
Its ok :-/ I'd assumed that there'd be more new stuff and that the beta test was just a little taster. Now that i've tested the maps over and over and over again, I can see that one of two things will happen. 1) I'll end up on a server where people aren't used to the maps/higher difficulty, they'll all die and i'll be left by myself (hopefully they wont all leave) 2) I'll end up on a server with people who know where all the enemies are and it'll be like shooting fish. If there are 8 people who know what they're doing it becomes a cakewalk and you dont get to shoot anything. Hopefully some more maps will come out VERY soon, cos you cant play 3 maps repeatedly, no way! I had to log out ant play bf2 instead. On a plus not, I like the hardcore mode. The sniper in Mayday Mayday gets most people everysingle time. They never know what's hit them
Bahger
Thanks for the helpful response, Buehgler_AS... I'd like to find a place to play GRAW coop, tactically and with voice comms, so I will be checking out your server. I have a couple of questions. I'd be grateful for a response if you have the time. - An informed poster on your website indicates that, despite the lifting of the "TL dies, game over" rule, the game will not give credit to any other team member for accomplishing objectives, thereby making all remaining mission orders unachievable. Is this true? If so, how can you complete the mission after the TL has died? - Is it possible to play coop on your server without installing the mod bundle? What is "Standard upgrade"? I'm only asking because I have no use for any [GR] mods and they'd be sitting on my HD unused. - I'm not sure I'll stick with the [GR] coop either; I like objective-based gameplay because it creates a semi-realistic framework for team tactics. Am I correct in assuming that the GRAW coop you play is the "pure" GRAW sp scenarios as modded for coop by GRIN with the solo missions added later? - Your "server setup screen limitations": Does this describe GRAW or [GR]? I may well be wrong but I do not recall an "Elite" difficulty option in GRAW or "Arcade mode". Also, I'm not sure what you mean by no sensors (unless it's just a reference to the HUD threat indicator) or "kit restriction" (can the host restrict equipment in GRAW MP? Maybe so, I haven't played in two patches...) Bear in mind, please, I'm not second-guessing your rules here, just making sure I understand. - What international timezone are most of your GRAW coop players in? RAbbi_74
@Bahger- feel free to stop by the 30+ GRAW server and TS. 30plus.org and follow the GR team. We don't bite. Usually...

Do you guys play mainly coop or adversarial? I used to play with the Beer Drinking Assassins, great guys but essentially H2H only and, as I said, I like tactical, voice-comms, mission-based coop... That issue is in the air for right now, but should be settled within the next 24 hours. Most likely will be TDM, Seige, or OGRCOOP. Any of the three lends itself well to team play I feel. I'll try to remember to drop a post in our public forum when we get it settled...
Buehgler_AS
- An informed poster on your website indicates that, despite the lifting of the "TL dies, game over" rule, the game will not give credit to any other team member for accomplishing objectives, thereby making all remaining mission orders unachievable. Is this true? If so, how can you complete the mission after the TL has died? This was an issue in the Beta release of this patch. As I understand it, this has been fixed (I was out of town most of last week when it was fixed in the beta so I have not experienced this myself). - Is it possible to play coop on your server without installing the mod bundle? What is "Standard upgrade"? I'm only asking because I have no use for any [GR] mods and they'd be sitting on my HD unused. Sorry.. I pointed you at the thread for our public GR server (for the TS info mostly) without much warning. The mods in question are GR mods for play on our public GR server, no mods required for any of our GRAW excursions (as far as I know, yet...). Just to agree on conventions... GR = Ghost Recon (+DS, +IT, +mods, +TS... == good coop fun), GRAW coop = SP missions from GRAW played with up to 4 players online, GRAW [GR] coop = the newly released FF and recon modes for up to 12 in GRAW. We now have a GRAW server up on trial at 194.102.117.69 running GRAW [GR] coop. The normal Alpha Squad rules of behavior apply. That is obviously a place to try to find "us". We really do not have any patterns of behavior yet (other than to get tierd of GRAW after a bit and head back to GR missions). Sorry I pointed you to the general intro to our GR server, those are rules for good old GR, and as you surmised many are not appropriate for GRAW. Since we have not decided if we want to use the resources to run a GRAW server yet you can adapt the guidelines as seems appropriate. - What international timezone are most of your GRAW coop players in? We are scattered, most are in North America, but we do have members and regular guests from most of GMT+0 to GMT+2, add to that a member from New Zeland and a bunch of regular guests from Australia and it is hard to predict when you will find people on our TS. Best bet is usually around midnight GMT.
