EricJ
if you look theres also a load up screen shot from it also. has a sniper laying on the ground i think in front of hte pic Hmm, I'll have to check the screens out again. Note that there is also one with the team at the Angel at the final and third mission. I think however, the Airport mission was supposed to be Mission07. If you pay attention to the Briefing for Strong Point, you'll note that the Shanty Town, and Chapultapec are designated Big Missions (therefore missions that are played of course), and playing Ready For Bear, they make it a point to mention Getting VIP1 Out Of Country. "Airport" was probably the skipped mission 07. The only way I can assume with some speculation is that there isn't anything in the Map Editor for such a complex. Of course I could be wrong, but it's a somewhat reasonable assumption, and probably dropped due to ship times or whatnot. It's a shame, as it'd be nice to run such a mission.... EricJ
That's the image for sure, shame as it kinda debunks any speculation as per the image. Maybe for VIP2 is Down? Looks about right by the poses.
Fonzarelli TAW
I love it when modders, etc find little clues left in game code...I find it compelling. Hopefully one of the Grin boys can help you out with this mystery.
GRiN_Bumbi
It's no hidden or unlockable content or anything, just a mission that was suggested but later scrapped from all versions. But since we had already named and started creating the later missions we kept the names of them to avoid bugs, otherwise mission08 would have been named mission 07. EricJ
Shame, okay thanks man! FonzerelliTAW: Really all you have to do is just use Nemon's Bundle Extractor and go to data/levels and it's there. I'm no haxx0r by any means, just noticed it and got curious, especially seeing the loading image in one of the image files. Shame because that one looks better (I would really recommend it for NORAD on the line, more appropriate).
NoQuarter
There are alot of interesting relics in the folders, take this one (from mission.xml) <string id="message_to_use_stationary" value="Press <action> to use stationary weapon."/> "A support weapon is a terrible thing to waste". EricJ
Yeah I'm sure you can add a button, but the thing is, the missions don't allow it, unless they are scripted to do that, which in all sense CAN when the time is spend. Where did you find that?
NoQuarter
Where did you find that? quick/data/strings/mission.xml There are others that didn't make it to prime-time <string id="message_to_open_door" value="Press <action> to open door."/> <string id="message_to_close_door" value="Press <action> to close door."/> Now if the animations for this stuff are located in the game folders somewhere, there is possibility to do some editing and adding these features. If not, it's just type. It would be nice to know if these features were abandoned because of engine problems or due to the release schedule. EricJ
Maybe, but the thing is, that it obviously doesn't specify door, maybe for the UH-60? Note of course "X" as default was supposed to open it. Maybe it was for the UH-60 for mission extraction/insertions, then they probably animated it instead. Matter of fact for Strong Point/Mission04.xml (in the levels/Mission04/ folder, not this one, there is a timer for what actions happen, i.e. the dropping of the ropes is by the second, which so far has been redone so I can get clean drops all the time since initially the way it's setup, I'd have two teammembers on the other side of the hill, right near the Power Station. Maybe that's why it's not used, or may or may not be implemented down the road for (if any) an expansion. But going through a few of the missionXX.xml folders reveals alot of stuff abandoned. Looks like the original intent was to actually ambush the convoy for Contact! but more or less time seemed to be the indicator for most of the issues, or it changed as most have an <-OLD!-> header in the xmls. Then ghost_members.xml probably refers to the 360 version, which in reading a Tips and Tricks book, mentioned the other characters. Shame we can't select more when and if the first three died. JasonFMX
any chance of us getting it back in a patch ???
NoQuarter
any chance of us getting it back in a patch ??? Are you referring to Mission#07? Judging from the size and environment of a certain [GR] Co-Op map in the beta, I think we have. Just a quess.
