calius Posted April 7, 2003 Share Posted April 7, 2003 Just got a Nvidia 4200Ti .. had a MX440 .. GR is now a dream to play all over again with smooth anti alaising .. oooh siuts me sir. And my Audigy problem seems to have improved .. I now play strictly in headphones .. never bothered before but it just makes it that little bit more fancifull. Im a geek and I luv iiiiiit !!! NYR_32 Posted April 7, 2003 Share Posted April 7, 2003 (edited) For the few minutes I played GR on my new PC, (before it died ) I jacked up all the settings and all I have to say is wow I was getting awesome frame rates and the graphics were better, I can't until I get my problem solved so I can play GR again on that thing. Dark Ranger Posted April 7, 2003 Share Posted April 7, 2003 My first Ghost Recon experience was on a nVidia Riva TNT2 Model64/64PRO with 32MB of On-Board memory - Core speed was 125MHz and Memory was 133MHz. I upgraded to the PNY Verto GeForce4 Ti4200 with 64MB of RAM(the 128 had not yet been designed). Yea, it was like night and day difference. FPS with the TNT2 card was around 12-16 with everything at minimum and playing at a resolution of 800x600x16. It looked like crud. With the Ti, I'm getting around 60-100 with all graphics at maximum(including shadows), 1024x768x32, AA at Quincunx(3x), Anistropic at 4x...*drools* I will never play a game again without AA. I recommend that! I got the Plantronics 500, and you get sucked right into the environment of the game its cool.... and it's has a mic attached for TeamSpeak action. When I got this game I was using an Elsa Gladiac 516 Ti 64mb (stuck at AGP x2 cos of the old Mobo too lol), things were ok'ish but not spectacular....In went this card and geeees what a difference ! Zantar45 Posted April 8, 2003 Share Posted April 8, 2003 I have always told people to use headphones, because it lets you hear things you woulndt hear on your speakers and you can play as loud as you want without getting in trouble. I kid you not, one time someone called the cops because they thought someone was getting killed, I had the sepakers so loud the gun sounds and death cries of the Russians went through the apartment wall was sort of muffled , so it sounded real. LOL cops came by asking if anyone heard anything, said ''nope'' next day got headphones. I got a decent graphics card, I dont care about graphics, but I will eventually buy a new one or finally buy that Alienware pc Ive been saving up for. It's the best sound system you can buy. Blows headphones out of the water!!! I can tell where the gunfire is coming from just by the sound.
