Here is why. Someone may just be having a spike for a few seconds. this dropping them from a match would not be acceptable. It's better to just have a kick option. You all can see the pings so pull the trigger manually.
}PW{ Postal
I think there is a way to set up auto kick so if it spikes it dont kick you. Like a time sensitive type thing..If it stays above 150 for 1 min then boot. A kick option would be great too...either way i would be happy...lol EDIT...i was just thinking..even a warning for high ping so that you knew you were about to get kicked. Although i dont play it anymore...BF2 had a nice set up for this. It would warn you a couple times then if your ping hung over the limit for too long then it would boot ya. If you can kick and ban... bye bye high pinger when you or whoever you give the pass to bans them. These auto things are going to set the date back and i imagine give more room for error and problems plus increase join times and ping refreshes. Simple and to the point. I don't want to have to go into the server 10 times before a match to set things the way the ladder want's it. Complicated also leads for more user error. Pulaski
Auto-kick would work nice in public servers, hard to admin a server 24/7. Plus I think this is pretty basic stuff, something most MP games have.

Maineac
The auto-kick for high ping in servers without an admin is not distressing to me either. It just adds some oversite to your server when no admins are present. Like auto-kick for tk'rs or any number if issues that can be handled by admins when they are on the server. It is important that servers protect the good gamers and remove the problem ones to keep the game alive. I also agree with the change to allow all players to spawn at the same time, particularly for matching. I do however feel that the development of the sads files is the most important project there is for GRIN, as every night there are fewer and fewer servers and players. I would hate to see this game fold after all the anticipation, disappointment, anticipation Etc. The Server tools are coming, and I hope they have a lot of people working on them. We really need them yesterday!!!

We really need them yesterday!!! Auto kick for high ping wouldn't work. On entry to the server that is busy you usually see some spike between 400-999 for about 2 seconds or less. This would drop everyone! It would have to log average ping, but with up to 32 players i don't see it being worth the resources. Now a 2 game AFK kick though i would see. (no movement from player for 2 games) I fully agree same time spawning is a must! People that get in 1st get half way across the map before the slower one's spawn in. It also doesn't always seem to releate to the ping. I have a 30-45 to our server and yet a teammate of mine with a 65 gets in before me (about 1/2 a second)

Quake 3, Enemy Territory, COD series and BF2. I'll list more with commands, need to look them up. COD2 Commands // Limit by max Ping. set sv_minPing "0" set sv_maxPing "250" Note also... GRAW shows that ping. Didn't say other games do. Hence it would not work in GRAW. AA, COD/COD2, BF2, Steam Games, Doom 3: I can see my ping in almost all my games, so thats nothing new, maybe to someone who only plays [GR]. I'm sure that technology isn't copyrighted, at least not THOROUGHLY...
+Medic+~SPARTA~
An Auto-Kick feature is okay, but place a time limit on the ping. Say 30 seconds, If a player's ping remains above 450 up to 999ms for a continued 30 seconds or more then they are dropped. This prevents the players being dropped from the ping spike and gives the people a chance to actually get in. I suggest this come with three options: Unacceptable Ping Auto-Drop 1. Enable/Disable 2. Maximum Ping Allowed: from 400-600 in 50 ms intervals or a check box for anything over 600ms 3. Time Allotment: Choices of 30, 45, and 60 seconds. But also keep in mind, just beceause the server reports a high ping doesnt mean the game will be affected with lag. They will just die faster than everyone else. Lag in game, is the most common side affect of high pings, as we all know, but the game can still be playable with hihg ping players. In the end it would be up to the server Admin to what the ping rate is set at and how long the player's PC has to find the best route to the server. Just some thoughts here. Kaleva
My friends are playing GR:AW, seems it's good game. But I will not buy it because no Linux dedicated server is avaliable. I'm squad leader, and we have big problems with hosting Joint Operations game, because no Linux dedicated server for that game avaliable. So I want no headache with GRAW-matches and GRAW-server

Flozzin
I quick skimmed through all this stuff... I didnt see this but I am dying to have it in the server, a slay command.. Yelling at people to get out of spawn doesn't work, and kicking them is over the top. But a slay would be perfect in my mind...
