Pulaski
Would this work for GRAW? MTV News Link Soon after the strike IW made a annoucment about fixing the game and adding Punkbuster. Maybe the GRAW community is to small to try something like this?
Rocky
I thought this was new news until I got to this bit.. On Saturday he intends to participate in the play stoppage along with 900 other gamers who compete on a server he runs. Instead he'll spend his time hanging Christmas decorations. Very interesting read though, anyone know what has happened since then? Did they get an effective AC/Punkbuster as promised?

Maybe the GRAW community is to small to try something like this? Yep, they got Punkbuster (if I remember correctly) which was included in the latest patch a few months ago. I haven't COD2 online for awhile, but they did get the patch. I don't know how effective the "boycott" was, but the game maker listened to the community. They would be fools if they didn't since I think they are planning an add-on for COD2.
Pulaski
Very interesting read though, anyone know what has happened since then? Did they get an effective AC/Punkbuster as promised? Six days after the article IW made the annoucement about adding Punkbuster, along with news about the patch. Punkbuster support was added in a april patch. Around 2000 server were locked down, which was around 20% of the servers. I think making the MTV News helped more then anything. I just hope UBI/GRIN understands how important a working anti-cheat is to the MP side of the game.
GrimJack
I was on their boards when all this happened.......quite honestly? I doubt it had much to do with it at all look at your own admitted time line "Six days after the article IW made the annoucement about adding Punkbuster" 6 days? do you HONESTLY think any sort of business decision was made in 6 days? it was already in the works when their supposed "boycott" was being touted...they MIGHT have pushed them to release the news faster...but thats all am I in support of them fixing the AC? ***ABSO-######-LUTELY*** do I think any sort of lock out or boycott does any good? no Edited August 6, 2006 by GrimJack
Pulaski
Since you was on the broads at the time you know this didn't happen over night. If I remember right plans started just alittle over a month before the boycott was to take place. So IW had more then enough time to make a good business decision. Times have changed in the last 5 years, few MP games last without a working anti-cheat, think about the games that added Punkbuster. You think BF2 would still be one of the top games month after month without Punkbuster? COD2 was heading for some major problems and IW/AV was smart enough to listen to the COD community with adding PB. As anyone can see the GR community is not supporting GRAW, something major needs to happen and server files alone will not be enough. A working anti-cheat plus server files, yes. GrimJack
I utterly & absolutely 100% without reservation AGREE its needed the SA server & a working AC is the ONLY thing that can boost GRAW into match quality playability I just think their "boycott" has squat all to do with it except for POSSIBLY making them release the news earlier
JASGripen
Since you was on the broads at the time you know this didn't happen over night. If you are on the "broads" "over night" then you are not fully aware of what goes on at message boards. [i am sorry, I just HAD to.]
