Should be 256 GDDR3 on that card as is the case for all other 7900GT PCIe cards.

That's not quite true now.

Gainward brought out a 512mb 7900GT, the ''Bliss Golden Sample" (I know as I have one ;)) & at least one other manufacturer (EVGA) have a 512mb version too :)

Agent S.

So your loving you new baby, I'm happy you have a Graphics setup to see what alot of us saw in the beginning. I bet your rig rocks with visual splender in GRAW.

I hope your on the GRAW fanboiz wagon with us all...

Nice to hear your praise for this game.

Viii

p.s. you will still get a frame hit online in multiplayer, I think it's locked into the lag from the host server, waiting for data.

And don't miss the chance to load up Frostbite or Year of the Monkey in [GR]. Simply amazing when run on the leading edge after being on the trailing edge for so many years.

I was doubly impressed with the modders' skills when I could run their work at all High settings.

I'm loving GRAW, warts and all.

2GB RAM

7800GTX

Pentium 3.4 GHZ

etc., etc....

I got my 7900 GT KO yesterday.

The performance and detail ratio in GRAW is more than words can describe.

I went through the same thing. I went from a 6600GT to a 7950GX2. GR:AW at high-res and high-quality textures is truly beautiful. It's also a lot easier to put the little red dot on people's heads, and every last bit of mouselag disappears.

BTW, don't overclock that card. The heavily overclocked 7900GT's have been cooking. Apparently, the PCB isn't up to the challenge.

Yeah I have always had a mediocre setup, but what I went from before to now is awesome the detail I have been missing.

Old: P4 2 Ghz, 1Gb PC2700 RAM, 9600XT 256 MB DDR2 GPU

New: AMD 64 2.2 Ghz, 1.75 Gb PC 3200 RAM, x1600Pro 512 Mb DDR2 GPU

Once I got that 512 Mb GPU...OMFG how awesome was that? I had everything on high running 1280x1024 and NO LAG AT ALL!!! I now love this game again.

My newish rig (had it since Feb) is great for GRAW.

ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe MB

AMD 4800 Dual Core CPU

2 GB Corsair RAM

150MB Raptor-X System HD

250MB Caviar Storage HD

ATi X1900 Crossfire Edition

ATi X1900XTX

Lots of cooling fans and a drive or two.

GRAW was a bit slow till I renamed the .EXE to take advantage of crossfire now it moves like a hungry horsefly. Run it 1600x1200 with everything on high, 16x aniso, edge blurring all details maxed...

how many FPS min, average, and max please? i'm planning to get an almost identical setup for GRAW, with the exception of using an AM2 board, when they come out. might also go for the x1950's in CF. most importantly, i'm interested in how your game performs when in a full or almost full server, playing Domination with lots of action... what's the lowest it drops to?

Right, well

I don't have Fraps or anything like that installed. A full server makes no observable difference to performance though.

I found it was a tough system to get to grips with though - drivers and setup were different to my old cards. I used nVidia since 97 and the TNT2.

Cons:

The dongle is a god aweful invention - Take care with it...

I also get a bit of flicker in GRAW on distant textures in AFR mode but not with a single card.. not all textures of course, just one or two here and there - a bit annoying but nothing major.

Support for games usually is best if its in the ATi drivers. The Oblivion thing for example is a bit of a mess. You can't run Oblivion in CF yet cause of flickers all over, ATi say they are waiting for the Oblivion patch, then release an AA + HDR patch that is supposed to add CF support, but I still had flickers. That was Cat 6.3 - 6.4 I'm now on 6.6 and havent played it much since. It was absolutely fine with one card though, but that's defeats the point of CF...

Pros:

Speed, features and color quality are superior to anything I have ever had before. Its great for GRAW in 1600 x 1200. The color is fantastic. my last 3DMark06 score was ~9000 with no overclocking of anything.
