flash45
How do I win mission 2 - Eager Smoke? I am running version 1.4.0.0 under Windows XP. I rescue the pilot and weapons officer. I then head over to blow the plane. There are two guards by the plane and I kill both of them. As soon as I do, the mission automatically ends and I never get the chance to blow the plane. I keep the pilot and weapons officer with me so they are not close to the extractiion zone (which I assume is by the insertion zone.) This last time, I tried taking the pilot and weapon officer all the way to the left side of the map (with the extraction zone in the upper right of the map), but it didn't help. Do I have to blow the plane first and then rescue the crew? In real life, this seems counter intuitive since blowing the plane should alert all the bad guys. It is kind of frustrating that I kill all of the enemies apparently and then with a cleared area, my demo guy can't do his job. Do I have to send my demo guy in under blazing lead and I doubt he will survive. Edited April 4, 2003 by flash45
the.ronin
it seems you are killing all the tangos before completing the optional objective. game ends automatically as is when all tangos are eliminated. try demo'ing the plane first.
budgie
You may have killed all the enemies and so the mission ends. Due to no resistance, you could theoretically place the charge anytime you want. I usually set the cgarges before rescuing the pilots - a full team assault on the field from 2 sides and when the enemy are dead I place the charges, move on to the farm house. Zantar45
Flash45?? Ahh New enemy accuired *Targeting* jk Anyways.....On all the missions, if you clear out (kill) all the enemies, its automaticly over. I usually take the extra 45-60 minutes to kill all the enemies on the missions before I do the 1st objective, that is unless I have time or something. Some people use strategy to do missions, I myself prefer needless, senseless, violence . and on that note, I would like to thank RSE for a quick save button

I effectively followed this strategy and then was unable to complete the optional objective since everyone was dead. I do agree with the approach of killing everyone I meet. Or to quote General Schwartzkof "I believe that forgiving them is God's function. Our job is simply to arrange the meeting." Can I plant the demo charge and not detonate it under after I have taken the house? Is there a time limit or range to remote detonate the charge? Noraf
the aproache i usualy use, is to clear the field around the house first, then move over to the aircraft, whith the democharge set, i'll move into the house, and rescue the pilot ( unless, i just got one trooper with me, then i'll clear the house, and move out to the barn, rescue the rw, then move back to the house, take with me the pilot, and head for extraction ), sends the pilot back with one team. the other team will in the mean time, under ai control, move to a holding position overlooking the barn. when the takedown in the house is underway ( ie, the pilot is secure ) second team moves in, and secure last hostage, then exfil with the hostage for the evac zone ohh, and, i usualy bring a demo guy on both teams, so that if one team fails it mission, the other can take over ps : in desert siege mission5, there are a timer on the democharges, and, they will blow up afther about 30 secs , and, you got limited time to get the carges inplace
