Commander Outcast
Hey guys, I was playing ghost recon 2 and I went on lone wolf, and i played with the XM-29. I though it was a really kool weapon and maybe sence its on Xbox, not the 360, we could port it to GRAW. We wouldnt have a 1st person I think, but idk, havnt played the PC GR2. maybe we could replace the MR-C with it.
larocket83
PC GR2 was never released. Not only is porting a gun from the xbox inefficient and not very possible, to my knowledge it is illegal. Weapons mods are made from weapons that are modelled by modelers.
SteelHack
By no means do I have the ability to do so.... but it would be interesting if someone did make the mod.....and you used the gun cam like you do for your AI.... That is another thing I was looking forward to thats not in the game...the firing blind over and around objects. HACK
Viper
Yah, the 360 version has the XM-29 and various Land Warrior style weapons that let you look around corners ... at least from what I could pick up from the strategy guide I paged through in CompUSA a few days ago ... It's also odd that the people in the video playing in the background in the main menu have XM-29s as well Since I have no beaten the SP campaign yet (been playing on my brother's computer when he's not using it - mine is still in parts on the table awaiting a new MoBo) I was kinda hoping that it would appear later on. Oh well, if the modding community for GR:AW gets to even half the level that it was for GR1 then we will have '-29s all over the place soon. Commander Outcast
Yeah it probably is illegial. but I've seen it done before for other games. From what I've heard the 360 is protected by sumthin and has the files in a compresed file that cannot be opened on a PC. Maybe we should patition ubisoft or grin to stick in the gun ^^ might be fun
Dimz_RR
if youre looking for new models, either ask here or at a site dealing with digital art, and general computer graphics , theres tond of modelers out there , just need to find one not busy atm . also the skins for the current weapons are top notch , so texturing wont be a problem . i will try to get a chance ot model some weapons , but i would need someone to do the back end implementation , including bone structure for animations , if applicable . EricJ
I agree, fixing bugs is more important than adding new weapons, nor should the MR-C be replaced. That, along with the SCAR-L, have become quite a home in my inventory and use. Personally, leaning, and using cover should be done, as well as aiming, should be done. Then again, it'd have to be restricted for MP or limited. I mean, what's the point in all these weapons when everybody would play the XM29? It'd start numerous flame-wars, etc. Fix the bugs. Viper
I don't know that everyone would use the XM-29, personally I don't much care for it at all ... it's basically a cool grenade launcher with a mediocre rifle attached to it for personal protection. Having a 5.56mm weapon with a 8.5" barrel is just ridicules, the cartridge is totally overbore - just ask the Delta boys who were in Somalia in '93. The 25mm part is very nice though, but as a support weapon; I hardly think it would be an uber-gun. Clark

But maybe it would be better to replace it with the SCAR-H , I dont like that gun much...or we could make a new slot for it so we could have the cool corner scope thing and the grenade clip...that would be awsome....... philkilla
Not to mention, an 8.5'' barrel would not work well AT ALL. Its a general rule of thumb that the longer the barrel, the better the operation. It gives the gas system more room to ''breathe'' if you will.
Viper
Not to mention, an 8.5'' barrel would not work well AT ALL. Its a general rule of thumb that the longer the barrel, the better the operation. It gives the gas system more room to ''breathe'' if you will. That depends alot on the design, the M-4 for example has had some problems related to the shortened gas system; but that is largely because the gas system in the M-16/M-4 delivers the gas directly to the bolt carrier and no changes were made to the gas system when the M-16 design was modified for the shorter barrel (the M-4A2 was supposed to fix alot of these problems, however this version has not to my knowledge been widely issued). The G-36 system is known for having a much better gas system, using a more conventional "pusher rod" design to deliver the gas force to the bolt, so even the G-36C is a rather reliable weapon despite it's short barrel. In general you are right though, and I'm not sure what the design on the XM-29's 5.56mm weapon was, but if it was based off an AR-15 you can bet there would have been problems. brunch86
the thing about porting models from different games is they tend to suck ass... xbox 360 isn't a PC, you couldn't read the serial number on your model on a ######ty TV and not everyone has a high-definition plasma screen. The best user made models I have seen in any game were the ones brought about by the counter-strike/CS Source community, these people spend months modeling a weapon to extreme detail and then passing it on to the next guy who skins it or animates it because there are no "jack of all trades" when it comes to producing uber quality. from what I know about the XM/M28 OICW (published information) is that the 25mm has some nifty little features such as an electronic trajectory calculator, the ability to set a fuse time for the projectile as well as impact detonation and air bursting. I can see how Thermal vision and rounds that punch through everything can seriously deteriorate multiplayer balance because its not fun to not have anywhere to hide. it would work well for cooperative gaming though. also, Thermobaric warheads plz )
