NTFS for Multiboot...

Recommended Posts

I want to put Windows 2000 Advanced Server on my computer. I also want to put on XP Pro. But unless it is required I want to put on NTFS for both. I have heard (here?) that it should be FAT32. Is that true? Can it not be NTFS only FAT32?

Thanks man, its hard to put on 30 programs and set your computer all up and then just sit around and wonder if you should expect it to head south anytime. Again thanks guys. :D For future reference then, You can dual boot and OS's long as then use same Files system then?

Actually, you can dual boot with many different file systems. You have to edit your boot ini file in xp pro so that you can physically see all OS installed during boot up then simply choose OS to boot. I have installed w98/win nt/win 2000/linux/xp pro using different file systems. What you really have to understand is what size to make the partition and location required for OS being installed. I wish I had a link for this information, so if I found one I will post it. PS a handy tool for multi boot is partition magic.

Linux and PM...I have Partition Magic. It was one of my favorite apps till it corrupted my system and made me format. As for Linux...Mandrake would not install right on either of my 2 computers, I got Red Hat 8 on one but I dont know the password HAHA, and when ever I installed Red Hat on my puter it always no matter what managed to get onto the same partition as my Windows OS. So now I am happing with my 200 and 4000 dollar OS's. :D
