Cpl Ledanek 247
I got this an Acer Aspire 5002WLMi connected to a DLINK 802.11G/2.4Ghz wireless router. My ISP is SBC/ATT DSL and yes I'm using their crappy modem. Hard line wise to desktop is fast enough and wireless is about the same. Never bothered to measure how fast. Last night after my wife was surfing on her laptop, I tried surfing on it also, but there was no signal what so ever. Usually I get someone else's signal from time to time, but after her, there were none. Now I'm frustrated as hell try to reset everything. I even reloaded the Broadcom driver for the network card in the laptop itself and still no dice. The antenna signal infront of the laptop would blink continously unless I pick up someone else's signal then it would stay on. thanks for any help

Harelip 5
By no means am I an expert on the subject. Just a maintenance guy who day after day curses D-Link to the lowest level of hell. Just this week I've had to RMA three similar routers as the one you have. Linksys has been a rather trouble-free brand so far. I've tried to get the firms I visit to switch their routers. But, alas, no luck.
ToW-Angel 0
I have a Linksys WiFi/hardline router also... Not had trouble with it since I bought it. I hear D-Link is good equipment. Sometimes rebooting the router helps solve connectivity issues. Sometimes I even have to do that with my Linksys. Just a thought. Also, do you have WEP enabled? One of the things about WiFi is that people can connect to your router without you knowing. You can set a limit on how many addresses your router is allowed to give out. If at some point you run out of addresses from too many connections, it's possible that router refuses to broadcast it's SSID. I personally don't know for sure... But, anything is possible. CrowmanUK 0
I'm using a Buffalo G54 Airstation and its nice and easy to set up http://www.buffalotech.com/products/produc...p;categoryid=30 I've got belkin cards in the other machines and they're a bit hit and miss if you ask me, some days they get a great signal, some days they drop the signal every 5 seconds making connecting impossible. Definitely enable encryption or some ###### with a laptop and the right software can hook onto your connection and read any password and username you put in, I know this cos I did it at college to show the lecturer how easy it was, you can even pull VOIP packets off and "tap" the phone so you need to enable the security, Change the routers password too, its easy to get a list of default passwords for routers so unless you want the buggers taking control of your router and setting it up just how they want it get that done first. Gimme a nudge if you need any more info and fingers crossed I might be able to guide you through it
