aussiereg
It's great to see that GRIN is here acknowledging the coop posts. Since coop is basically all my friends and I play, I feel encouraged that the coop issues may be addressed. And that leads me to the #1 issue we have right now with coop: WE CAN'T GET TO THE LOADOUT SCREEN! Sorry about the screaming, but this is ridiculous. I tried for almost 2 hours Saturday to join/host a coop game, and never once got it to work. Sunday I was finally able to join someone's game, only to be disconnected 5 minutes into the game. Some days it works marginally, some days not at all. I am OK with the coop game when we're playing, all the things that have been promised for coop improvements sound great, but I enjoy playing it as it is now. That is, if we can play! The way it stands now, four of us try playing, but only one of us can host because no one can get to the loadout screen if the others try to host. And the one that can host has a slower PC, so the game doesn't host well on his computer. And we all have computers that will run the game just fine. As a matter of fact, we all can jump into a Dom or DM game without any problems. This appears to be a coop issue. GRIN, I know I can't ask you to respond directly to this (Colin pretty much threatened me with being booted off when I asked before), but there appears to be a lack of posts regarding this BkSOD issue in coop. I'm sure you're aware of it, I just wanted to state that the coop game has been very enjoyable when we get it to play. It's just not easy to get that far with it. We wonder at times if this is, in part, a Gamespy problem. There are a good number of times I get 'Gamespy connection problem' messages, which doesn't give me a warm, fuzzy feeling about being able to play. I truly hope that one of the future coop improvements is Direct IP connection, but I doubt it. Ubisoft using Gamespy was not, IMHO, a wise decision. Unfortunately, that's what we got. Thanks for listening You have just told it exactly right, i feel the same, have the same enjoyment, and the same problems and fears when starting a Co_op mission too, and Co_op is all i play, i will wait for the coming help with getting a good smooth mission play, and be able to get into them, and get them finished, but we do need to vent our feelings about the problems we have, as we have already supported the makers/developers 100%, we bought and paid for the game...... And thank you for the responce that i see to some of the post too, Grin

Bad enough that Symantec keeps flagging the included GameSpy files in GRAW as spyware (gee, wonder WHY?!), but it was one more thing I had to sign-up for. I just got over that scare with the US Veterans' Administration losing my info. The less people who have an electronic track on me, the better. GameSpy can eat it... Long Live GRIN! WhiteKnight77
I just got over that scare with the US Veterans' Administration losing my info. Long Live GRIN! I got that letter too. GRIN understands what we want and are trying to give it to us. Did GRIN have enought time to put all the features into the game that we want? No. Is it their fault? Again no. If you are not happy about it, build your own game.
CkZWarlord
I'm sorry WhiteKnight77, but you seem to think that it is easy to make a game, that it is some that you just throw together. Have you actually tried to develop anything at all ever? Even something as simple as Notepad? I'll bet you haven't, otherwise you wouldn't throw the "build your own game" comment around like it is funny.
intelfactor
Will GRiN ever add an anti-cheat? Disconnecting players with modified files doesn't qualify as A/C. Even R6: LockDown has punkbuster and is one of the biggest UBi failures to date. So GRiN, what are you guys going to do about online cheats? Its not easy, even if you are paid to know what you are doing, its still not easy. When a Dev takes on a project such as this one, they are working with new ideas and new technology. So the whole thing is a learning process while doing the job. Your right making a game is not easy...............................for anyone. sui317
agree with JD^^ would like to add that we should give them time to make it right and working correctly, if we make them feel bad, well i don't know if you know the monday morning production expression, but that is what we could get , not because they want it, but because those things happen when there are high expectations and lots of pressure and a less than good feeling

Then UBi should have handed the work over to people more experienced in the PC industry like RedStorm. I don't mind if the game had to be released for another year, so long as they don't have to give us the rest of the game through patches. WhiteKnight77
RSE will most likely never be allowed to create a PC game from the ground up again. The last time they did that, the game was released 10-01. The last couple of games that RSE tried to or did release for the PC were console ports. PC games from RSE franchises will be created by other studios either contracted by Ubi or wholly Ubi owned (such as Ubi Montreal).
MikSnoopy
RSE? Red Storm Entertainment? The group that did the original Rainbow Six games? (Which were great, for their time) I cannot remember who did Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield - which was great. Lockdown sucked ass though. One hell of a lot of it. Heck, lockdown was such a disapointment that they lost so many sales. Granted, it doesn't surprise me that they are making another already - R6 is a rather big hit for the console. The fact that GRAW has gotten two patches in 2 months is a blessing. 1.10 was great - they fixed quite a few things without breaking anything. 1.16 however, added many many new features that are not exactly... simple. Would I be correct in assuming GRIN is a semi-small group of coders? Reason I ask that, is because I don't see a large listing of Dev's - like you see in many other games. What else does GRIN have credit for? Personally, I think they're doing a good job. (Being a Coder...) The problem is, the issues we are running into are catastrophic (spelling?). The AC is a total bogus, with all the drops it causes. I know that the widescreen issue (which I previously stated was fixed - wrong) is also causing alot of issues - and made a few people completly stop playing the game. All in all, keep it up. If you guys stop supporting this game - I'll personally come over the pond and pee in your tea. (Re: I'm off work for the next 4 months, so if you stop supporting, wait till 5-6 months. )

MikSnoopy
I should also note. I've been running the game at a 4:3 resolution with my monitor set to Aspect (and later to 1:1) so that I have black lines on the L/R of my screen. I still get the skewing "hop" - where it looks like my FoV is resetting or something.
[RS]Stalker
I just got over that scare with the US Veterans' Administration losing my info. Long Live GRIN! I got that letter too. Me too. You people that complain about the complainers are the most useless posters on any of these forums. You seem to think that you are the center of the universe. You're like the gelatinous mounds of pasty flesh that clog the aisles of Walmart's grocery, oblivious to the fact that other people KNOW which brand of rice (they're all pretty much the same, you human flotsam) they want and don't appreciate having to wait because you chose to park your fat posterior AND your cart lengthwise in front of the whole freakin display. Toniezz...the majority? "...few ignorant boohoos"? Where do you get your figures from? That statement and that attitude is what is ignorant. I'm really glad for the co-op crowd. I truly hope you DO finally get the game you wanted, if you aren't one of lucky few who think you already did. However, I'll let you in on a little secret. The MAJORITY of people who have waited 5 years for the next installment of GR are not happy at all, whether they play SP, MP Co-op, or MP TvT. The list of LEGITMATE complaints is massive. Many of the complaints are MAJOR issues, not small quibbles. Is personally attacking the devs or forwarding ridiculous conspiracy theories helpful? Of course not. That doesn't change the fact that the game (forget the gameplay for minute) has so many problems that it is virtually unplayable for the huge number of us who primarily play TvT MP. The real numbers speak for themselves there, as in the number of available servers, the number of people playing on them, etc. Raven Shield still has hundreds of servers and thousands of players after all this time. BF2 had 1000+ servers up within a few days of release and still does. For MP team players, those are the real numbers. I'm not going to rehash what it would take for GRAW to achieve some level success with this huge segment of the FPS gaming world. It may be too late, I don't know. What I do know is that marginalizing my concerns and those of thousands of other dedicated MP players does not serve you or the future of this game. I'm absolutely certain that GRIN is doing the best they can with what they have to work with and I don't fault them. However, that doesn't change the fact that for my particular demographic of player (competing TvT MP), this game is FUBAR.
SneakSnipe
Then why wasn't the game finished before it was released? Why were there so many obvious bugs? Why were three patches needed within the short period of time the game has been out to finally just start to address basic functionality issues and bugs? Why did the disconnect issues last thru two patches before it was finally addressed - almost? Why was Grin trying to quickly add new features when the basic problems with the game aren't fixed yet (and don't say its because your responding to the communities wishes to make it look like your paying attention because it just doesn't appear true - even tho we do appreciate the new features), was it to distract customers from the problems that still persist? Is the answer to these questions the most obvious 'We will release it and get them to pay for it and then let them test it so we can fix it?" Nothing 'disgruntled' there at all, everyone saw or noticed these things. Attempting to downplay someones dissatisfaction with the product, a customers dissatisfaction, a paying customers dissatisfaction, in the manner you did simply shows disrespect for the paying customer. 'Conspiracy theory'? yes maybe a little bit, but in every theory, conspiracy or not, there is a bit of truth...and honestly it doesn't appear that Grin has been really forthright with their customers. So...it doesn't matter what Grin thinks...were the paying customers...and deserve more then a representative of Grin or UBI talking down to us like we made the whole thing up. You don't seem to understand something, we don't work for you...thats right...we don't work for you...we are the customer and you simply can't talk to us this way, we paid for the product and expect you to deliver what was promised. So keep your opinions to your self, you don't have any right to decide in any way what is and is not a 'conspiracy theory' especially when the very core, at the very root, of what your calling a 'conspiracy theory' is that one piece of truth that neither Grin nor UBI delivered the product that was expected when it was paid for. That the co-op is lacking at the moment, I can agree to. But to say there is no hope for it - that is, assuming that we are lying about the upcoming improvements to the co-op mode - is a tad bit too pessimistic. It's just your disgruntled self speaking. I thought people knew better these days than to hang on to these "UBI are trying to steal our money and dump toxic waste on our back lawn" conspiracy theories. MikSnoopy
I think things are progressing along nicely. It will be nice to have respawns in co-op, though currently it really adds a level of fear when you know how easy it is to die for good. Still haven't completed Quarterback (super long mission in the slums) yet on co-op! Don't worry - I havn't gotten past VIP2 is Down. Atleast, not since the 1.16 patch. Anytime I attempt to host a game (or join one), everyone but the Ghost Lead gets a blackscreen before they can reach the inventory screen. WNxOpz
Sneaksnipe and [RS]Stalker WELL SAID. To GRIN and all you "why are you people complaining" complainers, there is but one thing to say... SCOREBOARD. Look how many people are playing the game. Yeah, those few people would be US, the people who are complaining. People are just ###### because they see a game they want so much to succeed but which has been put on life support by the choices of its publisher and producer, and the sad thing is, the game might be unrecoverable. I don't think there is a single person here, who is complaining about the games many glaring faults, who would not gladly have waited another year for a complete and polished game rather than witness this tragic alcoholic of a game drink its liver to death. That said, I still enjoy the game and have not given up yet, but if by the July patch, things don't improve GREATLY, the game is doomed (it probably already is). I don't care how much you love the game, 200 people does not make a viable gaming community for a game of this sort. Its kinda like trying to populate a new planet with just you, your mom and your sister. KEEP WORKING GRIN, CUZ THE GAME IS ON THE LINE. Buehgler_AS
Anytime I attempt to host a game (or join one), everyone but the Ghost Lead gets a blackscreen before they can reach the inventory screen. Uhhhh, while annoying, the black screen is not an indication that the world has ended. In our experience clients will see the "black screen of doom" while the server loads up the game and for a while after that -- the length seems corelated with capability of the client machine as well as network issues (there is a lot of data going from server->client during the black screen bit). If you enjoy the blackness for a while (maybe up to a few minutes) you are typically rewarded by an inventory screen.

silent_op
If there were no hope for CO-OP I sure wouldn't be here and I sure wouldn't keep playing GR:AW (even with flawed CO-OP). Why can't people read posts and retain information that would really help to calm their emotions down? All those with no hope in GRINs CO-OP work, allow me to refresh your memory: UbiRazz: UK Community Manager Posted Wed May 24 2006 08:59 After releasing the most anticipated Tactical FPS of 2006 on PC, Ubisoft is proud to show its strong support of the latest instalment in the Ghost Recon series, as well as to its fans! Five years after its release, the first Ghost Recon is still considered as a “must have†in terms of the online experience it provided. This is due to its unique mix of FPS and tactical shooter elements, as well as its exclusive and addictive MP modes—but most of all, its success is due to the support of fans all around the world! Ubisoft’s desire has always been to listen to the GR community and take into consideration their expectations and desires. That is the reason why today Ubisoft is releasing an immediate patch and revealing new free multiplayer content to be released throughout the summer for Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter on PC. Starting in June, Ubisoft and developer GRIN will release brand new multiplayer modes, including: Deathmatch mode, Map Editor for Deathmatch and Domination, anti-cheat fixes, Anti Aliasing feature, and New co-op maps Throughout the summer: Team Deathmatch, Hamburger Hill modes, Original GR co-op mode, Map editor for TDM, HH, [GR] co-op, GRAW co-op improvement (quick start and respawn) and Dedicated Server pack Enjoy playing Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter! JOIN THE GHOSTS! Didn't GRIN deliver on exactly what they said for the "June Patch", according to the above quote? Sure we didn't get new CO-OP maps as in expansion pack style, but we did get 3 never before CO-OPed maps from the SP campaign. Isn't this an indication that they are doing exactly what they scheduled? Isn't this a huge GRIN sign of hope? silent_op Edited July 7, 2006 by silent_op

This is due to its unique mix of FPS and tactical shooter elements, as well as its exclusive and addictive MP modes•but most of all, its success is due to the support of fans all around the world! Isn't this a huge GRIN sign of hope? silent_op Yes indeed... Well said... What does it take to get the layers of concrete here... They Did what they said they were gonna do... Some people here are so quick to B__ch about evrerything... Get back on your Lazy Boy Recliners and will let you know when it's time to get off of it.... Thanks for the reminder silent_op Edited July 7, 2006 by Stormin
