My comparison between GRAW and GR1

- The sound is good in both games. I would say the weapon and bullet_ hit sounds are better in Graw and the environment sounds were better in GR1.

I agree with you on a lot of things but not on this.. environment sounds in GRAW are so far the best I've ever heard...

Hi Digitaly -TC, I guess a little more clarification is needed on this. The sounds of us kicking cans, aircrafts flying, helicoptors landing and sound reflecting off buildings etc. are indeed awesome. Desmond has done a wonderful job on these sounds and weapon/bullet hit sounds as well.

What I meant by environment sounds is -- in the park map and bunker map ( missions 5 and 4 ), some more insect sounds would have better. Also, when we step in the water in mission 4, that sound is very toned down. In daytime city, a sharp bird-call breaking the silence etc. -- I was talking about this aspect. Obviously, in GR1, the rural maps provided more scope for these sounds and we have to keep that in mind as well. :)

This gives us a much better understanding on the way forward then the less informative comparisions of earlier.

NEGATIVES ( CONTD..)

- After all these months, there is still no 'firefight ' mode for Graw in single player. Nor are there any other modes and there is no news regarding whether there is going to be any at all.

- There is still no editor for single player and the maps for [GR] co-op, that are being made, cannot be used in SP. [GR] scored heavily on this issue. All maps could be used in all modes and that was something special. Igor was special in that regard also. Graw is scoring poorly on replayability, flexibility and variation.

- There are no ROE for friendlies, like [GR] had, and this is limiting the stealthy gameplay somewhat.

- I would have prefered the city to be a bit more colourful. In Graw, Mexico City seems to have only a few colours.

Would any TvT or PvP player like to compare that aspect, now that they have played for quite sometime after the 1.30 patch ?

Check your OGZR settings... isn't there a Recon and firefight mode? ;)

i have one thing in [GR] coop

when you play [GR] coop the enemy in graw will often be aware you are there, or reacts quite fast to your presense

in [GR] you had the tangos that were also in non combat mode

which made it easier to go for stealth (recon), rather than firefight

i think that is one thing i miss most, the ability in graw to observe enemies, and enemies that are relaxed drinking beer or smoking a sigaret, (everyone knows the scenes from the beach (ds) and the first mission [GR] with the tents up the hill)

in graw all enemies are somewhat battle ready, and will react to the slightest movement (one quicker than the other)

but it is hard to or impossible to lie down and observe their behaviour, count their walk times etc.

this makes recon less recon for me

but the [GR] coop in graw feels more alive, in the way that you have fire fights and the manner in which these will evolve

Am I :dunce: as I thought we can set up our own PC as LAN/server & thus play GRAW FF & Recon without others; sure it's not 'real' SP as online capability is necessary, but isn't it possible to do?

So, does this really helpful comment mean (a) yes you can; or (b) no you cannot; sorry, I did not realize my post involved such an apparently complicated proposition.

Just to add to the topic.

Something i prefered in [GR], was the whole online setup lobby thing.

It made it so much easier to play with friends when everyone could just join the server and be in a lobby, where we could decide what we wanted to play etc all very quickly.

The new system is just your typical online join set game thing.

Just to add to the topic.

For matches we set it to not start until everyone readys up. That gives you a lobby.

Yes, it is possible in [GR] Cooperative mode in firefight and recon game types, and no, you don't have to be online to create a LAN server.

The problem seems to me to be the attempt to carryover Ghost Recon terminology to GR:AW. For instance, a mod in GR referred to a game modification while in :AW a mod was a weapon attachment (until Nemon). No SP quick mission and 2 different modes of Co-Op (in GR:AW) further clouds the issue and has people talking around each other.

In other words, what we have here, is a failure to communicate.

I miss being able to enter buildings. alot of the buildings could use rooms to allow for people to enter them. But that's an issue that came up since even before GRAW released

Check the mod section. I do believe i read there are ways to make doors that you can open.

This would be cool for smaller maps... making internal building wars, but to keep games like TVT going, to many doors and rooms can be an issue. one or 2 though wouldn't be bad on each side of the map as long as they didn't go door crazy.

as said before , doors isnt an "engine" issue or anything like that, its simply a design decision and is easy enough to mod in! :)
