Sup
http://www.gamershell.com/download_14372.shtml Just about to try it. I've been saying all along the trailers looked awful, but now it seems this game may actually be pretty good. I should be back to admit I was wrong in an hour or two. Sup
I stand by the fact that the trailers looked awful; having played it I know exactly why. That said, the game's amazing. Human Head has outdone themselves. The ending of the pre-combat sequence was amazingly executed, with the (previously interactive) music changing and going up to maximum volume. Cuchillo*
Oh yea !!, it's a good game here another link : http://www.fileplanet.com/164821/160000/fileinfo/Prey-Demo "comments about it" This is the sleeper of the summer," says GameSpy reader giftedinthepants. "Brilliant demo" raved Hardflip. WeeDab|x posted in all caps: "OMG AWESOME AWESOME," while Scudo says "I swear to god a game has never made me dizzy before this." It's rare to see such unified excitement over a demo release -- the only negative feedback about the demo on the GameSpy forums so far came from people who admitted that their computer was in need of an upgrade. See what people are saying! Of course, you should be Downloading the Demo if you haven't already -- it's a couple hours of entertainment for the weekend. Today's lead story on GameSpy.com talks with the developers and goes into more detail about what to expect. My opinion? I'm impressed by how many 'hooks' this title has: the spirit mode, what happens when you die, and of course the portals and shifting gravity. As a result the level design can be totally new and different. It's been a while since I've seen something this inventive in the first-person shooter space. See for yourself and talk about it! -Fargo ================ Cheers Edited June 24, 2006 by Cuchillo*

TRC
Well Sup, you hooked the old fart into trying it--had a blast--finished on normal-will try cherokee tomorrow. Loved the ever changing viewpoint due to manipulating gravity. I wouldn't pay 50/00 for it, will wait til it goes down in price but it was a delightful diversion from the GRAW wars. Sup
Looks like HF knew what he was talking about? Not surprising to me at all. Everything I criticized (plain/uninspired shooting, gruesome Doom3 engine normal/spec maps) I stand by. The ONLY thing the game has going for it is atmosphere. However, it has more than enough to make it a great game. Edit: Oh, and gates in mp are more than gimmicky. They're outright pathetic, all they add is nedless chaos and more 'random' secondary fire kills. Gravity trails are pretty cool, but from a basic gameplay level (in multiplayer) they don't change much. Just elevated positions.

I fail to see then how you aren't talking out of both sides of your mouth then, when you clearly state. That said, the game's amazing. Human Head has outdone themselves. Human Head has outdone themselves. It's an amazing game, but it's still riddled with flaws. It's strong point(s?) simply overcome all of it's shortcomings. Edit: It's art is a perfect example of everything wrong with normal mapping. It's shooting is uninspired and plain. It's weapon variety is limited. It's enemy AI is basic. However, the atmosphere is amazing, and the level design is more than good enough to keep the game interesting.
TRC
Whisper, don't read console corner, thanks for the info. I'd agree, HF was ahead on this one. I like a good shooter that gets me laughing and scrambling for cover like Doom 3, FEAR, Halo pc, Quake 4, to break up my GR play. This could be the next one. pz3
Yep this game makes me feel a little giddy. Its like HL2/DOOM3/System Shock 2.... I like it thus far. The engine looks fantastic and plays really smooth with everything maxed. I might buy this one. ------------------------------------------ And sup give it a rest.... no one cares about your graphical input at the moment. Sup
And sup give it a rest.... no one cares about your graphical input at the moment. It isn't really even an opinion. It's a recognized and accepted fact that black shadows pretty universally never look good on skin, and when you add the plasticy spec that covers everything... Eh. Doom3 was impressive when it first got shown, because it was what really brought Normal mapping to the public eye. Even by the time of it's release, though, it was outdated. Without it we wouldn't have advanced so fast, but as it is every game on it looks pretty universally awful. Even worse when the artists intentionally ramp the spec up. Doesn't stop Prey from being a great game, anyway. At least for a rental; multiplayer didn't seem near good enough to warrant a buy, but some of the best games I've played were best as rentals.
