SN271
Hi! Just screwing around placing different skins on the SCAR and thought you all might like them. It's not the usual spray primer job that we use in theater (typically a few quick sprays over a laundry bag for texturing ), but I think that the digital patterns look especially neat. If interest is there I'll carry on with kit. Later! Urban Marpat Urban Cadpat Desert Edited June 22, 2006 by SN271

SN271
Still screwing around...just with different stuff. SCARH w URBAN MARPAT SCARL w DARK DESERT SCARL w TAN CADPAT SCARL w URBAN MARPAT I apologize for the low res textures, but my computer won't even give me the option of high quality...sigh. I think they're coming along for a learning experience. Enjoy!

SN271
Well, it just seemed right to fire up a set of URBAN MARPAT combats. It's a shame about the way that the sepia effect washes out the color, but it sure does work! Blends into the surroundings very well. URBAN MARPAT.1 URBAN MARPAT.2 URBAN MARPAT.3 should probably do the helmet...
SN271
Just couldn't leave it alone. I should lower the sepia levels so that you can see the cam the way it actually looks before being washed out. Either way I think this came off ok, what you think? URBAN MARPAT.4 URBAN MARPAT.5 URBAN MARPAT.6 later!

tilliboy
Nice work SN271 , if I can suggest you , you can activate the high resolution textures by editing the "renderer_settings.xml" and type "high" instead of "medium" for charachters and weapons textures , I use this way to take screnshoots with my old PC. SN271
Thanks for the input guys! Good to see I'm not wasting my time. I've set up the render_settings file to high, but the screenshots still come off like this. I think that is because I have to "Save For Web" in PShop at high which effectively halves the high size (and quality) just so that I don't waste all of my bandwidth online when people surf the screenshots. I'm using the "Printscreen" button instead of the "ScreenCapture" function in the game, could that be it?? Thanks!
SN271
Not exactly the perfect arena for this cam, but here is Mr Brown sporting his new Urban CADPAT. A little bright perhaps but hey, he's standing in the sun and they're new combats - he'll break them in. Urban CADPAT
SN271
Added another quick screenshot. Urban Cadpat 1 and 2 Tritium sights on the Glock18 for good measure. Edited July 5, 2006 by SN271
Scubaman3D
The urban MARPAT is really nice! I was thinking of doing that also but got turned on to SpecAM and SOPAT camo. The urban CADPAT looks like snow camo...
SN271
Thanks man. That one just fell together as if it was meant to be. Yeah. The 2 patterns are quite similar other than the winter pattern being less busy with that blacks spread out a lot more. I imagine that the urban cadpat skins will become useful once once somemore appropriate maps are created. They are still a little too bright and you know, I'm just too damn lazy to change it. I've never ran across the SpecAM and SOPAT cam. They look quite interesting don't they?

I've never ran across the SpecAM and SOPAT cam. They look quite interesting don't they? Do you get a bad glare with skins that are too light? I notice this with very light greys, that they shine like a mirror. I'm worried that once we get snow maps, there will be terrible glare from the white skins - although I'm sure that issue will be resolved eventually. I have a thread showing the SOPAT. It seems like it will be the "next generation" of fractal camouflage.
SN271
Yup, I noticed that a while back. The easiest way I've defeated this is to lower the brightness of the affected areas by about 15-30% depending upon the skins. You lose no detail and it evens out the glare. The Urban Marpat pattern acted like that in the beginning, but 20% took care of it. The Urban Cadpat will probably take about 30%.
SN271
To add to my last, here's a couple of shots in which the GL's brightness was adjusted to blend with the parent weapon. The same technique is used for the helmets, though I use a slight alpha channel to give it a hard look.
