GRAW Add On Pack & Update 1.16

Recommended Posts

they call this "mp map pak" but some of these changes are for SP as well correct?

Such as -

*You can now aim down while lying down(in prone) where it's natural to do so

*AI UPDATES - AI now correctly identifies mounted weapons and gun nests as threat.

AI will now attack vehicles with soldiers that they can harm (including helicopters).

AI will now always go into combat mode if being fired upon.

AI teammates are more prone to seek lower covers. They will sit down instantly when taking fire.

AI teammates will try to avoid running in front of you when you are shooting, if you are close enough.

*Anti-Alaising option

etc, etc.

<_< That's a very good question mot73. I would certainly like to know too!

Overall, a step in the right direction I would say but what does concern me are:-

- CD-Key Rejected Message every single time I try and sit down to have a game.

- Getting "The server files do not match", I did a clean re-install.. removed every trace of the game off my machine and reinstalled. Now unless a random server that has 12 odd people on all have some seperate Mod files that I don't know about, seems very odd.

- I still can't sit down and have a good game online, after 20 minutes of CD-Key rejections, "Files do not match" or simply cannot join server I have just given up, put the game back on the shelf with a huge *Sigh* and will keep waiting patiently again.

It's not all bad, I love the new AI changes, the Edge Smoothing is butter and easier on the eyes, and the new CooP stuff is great.

I still cannot comment on Deathmatch mode, I haven't been able to find a server to play on yet where I don't get one of the two errors mentioned above.

I just hope people are as patient as I am and willing to wait it out till August.

Question though.... does having Edge Smoothing enabled some how make the game appear to be "different" somehow to a host your trying to connect to that doesn't have the mode enabled?

Thanks Grin!!

I like most of the improvements which is a step in the right direction.

But still the game could be smoother, the AA is crap( I hate that blurred effect). I dont like the DM with more than 10 ppl. Looking forward to the rest!!

Many welcome fixes, like being able to aim while prone.

However, we're experiencing greater server instability (>5 crashes in the six hours the patch has been installed). In addition, large groups of members typically get kicked when the map changes. CD-Key and anti-cheat stuff don't seem to be working like they should. Given the new problems with getting booted from the server every map change, I would rate this patch poorly. Wait for the next one if you can.

Great cool neat stuff in the patch. I realy like it and I mean it too. Thanks for issueing it.

Only have two issues;.

1St issue; CD reject key happens alot and to about 50% - 75% plus of the players all at the same time.

2nd issue: Files dont match disconect happens about as many times as the CD reject key and afffects about the same amount of people.

I had 4 CD rejects and 3 files dont match in 3 hours. Id have to say that at least 150+ players or occurances in the same amount of time got dropped from the game.

This almost certainly is going to happen to you if you see 20-60 seconds of total black screen. Yo might as well just shut down and restart it cause your going to be dropped out for onew of the two reasons above.

None of my files have ever been touched. Really.

This is a none Technical Feed back thread

Game mode Deathmatch added.

A new gametype Deathmatch(DM) has been added to the game, along with 3 new DM maps.

New coop missions.

Missions 1, 5 and 9 have been updated to work in Coop mode. You can now enjoy the full campaign in multiplayer.

Server interface revamped.

Numerous new server options are now available:

Start match conditions ("All slots full", "All players are ready", "one player on each side is ready", and "server is ready").

Tactical points can be disabled.

Any player joining a spawn limited server will only have as many spawns as the player with the least left, or 0 if the match has only 1 spawn.

Players on a spawn limited server will be spawned automatically into the game after 60 seconds.

An "Immortality at respawn" option has been added, and it can be from 1 to 10 seconds.

Statistics screen for Domination has been updated.

It now contains better overall match statistics, round statistics and keeps stats from round to round(for the duration of the match). You can now see the current match scores and time remaining in the ingame status screen, default "Tab" key.

Weapon kits are now available.

At the bottom of the Inventory you can now find 4 default kits, fully customizable. If a server is playing with the "Disabled tactical points" option, your selected kit will automatically be re-selected on every spawn.

Better impact sensation.

Some new sounds have been added for when you're hit or when hitting others. When hit, your reticule will be nudged off center. Character models have also been updated, so there's a generally larger area considered to be a "headshot". Weapons damage has also been updated, increasing the chance a single shot to the head will generate an instant kill.

Colours have been added to the chat window.

Your actions are represented by blue, while red is hostile activity. A yellow hue is used for s tatus messages and chat is still white. The chat window can now also be toggled in three modes, default key "u": regular, transparent or hidden.

Anticheat server option has been added.

When enabled this feature will run certain checks to match the client with the server. Note that this will affect any users with modded files, including the main GRAW.exe. If you wish to play using modified files, make sure the server configuration matches your own, or you will not be able to play (this includes all files in the ./local/ directory).

Editor has been added.

Grins own editor has been updated and is now released for public use. You can always reach the built-in help functions by pressing "F1". We've also included a basic tutorial document, which you can find in the "Support" directory where you installed GRAW. After you've made your map, press "Escape" and then "Export" to prepare the map for the game. This will allow you to set some options like lightmaps and level quality. Please note that for large maps rendering these can take a very long time. Once the process has been completed, a file with your maps name and extension .bundle can be found in the custom_levels directory of GRAW. This .bundle file can then be distributed, and is the only result file you need to share. All players wanting to play your map must have a local copy of it.

Chat has been added to status screens.

Chat Window now allows for more text in higher resolutions.

A sticky leaning feature (enabled by default) has been added in the Game options.

Primary weapon, secondary weapon, backpack, grenade launcher, frag grenade and smoke grenade can now be bound to hotkeys.

Anti aliasing:

Edge smoothing feature has been added to the graphics options.

There's now a "Connecting to" dialog box when connecting to a server. This will display more information and possible error messages about why you cannot join a server.

Custom context.xml files can now be loaded with a -o parameter on GRAW.exe.

Screenshot button can now be bound from the Options screen. Default key "Ins".

AI UPDATES

AI now correctly identifies mounted weapons and gun nests as threat.

FIXES

Changed statistics screen for coop to contain more information for all.

Fixed a bug where you could get stuck in ghost cam when the coop mission ended.

Fixed a bug where AI statistics were lost when a player respawned.

You can now aim down while lying down(in prone) where it's natural to do so.

Strafing after sprinting will no longer instantly bring up your gun.

Removed a small delay before being able to run after reloading.

Amount of grenades have been tuned in multiplayer.

Rust pipes have been fixed.

Updated some graphics objects to display correctly.

Regular weapons can no longer blow up barrels.

MP02 (Warehouses) has been updated and some physics effects removed.

Enemy markers now correctly appear on hostile tanks and helicopters.

Fixed some minor crashes and bugs.

Players can now correctly buy more ammo in MP.

Weapons switch correctly synchronizes in MP.

Fixed typo that caused the air condition sound to continue after being broken.

General interface fixes.

Game no longer crashes if you load a Domination map with no zones.

GRAW PC – Q&A MP CONTENT

Date: June 9th 2006

Answered by: Mathieu Girard / GRAW PC PRODUCER

Q. First of all, why not include all this content from the beginning?

A. Because GRAW PC would have then been released for Christmas 2006! Fans have been waiting for quite long for a sequel to the [Ghost Recon] and we have worked hard to offer them a great experience in terms of tactical FPS including a deep solo experience and two really exciting MP modes, both emphasizing on the strategic aspect of the game. But to make things clear, we planned from the beginning to provide additional content after the release of GRAW, and especially on the multiplayer part.

Q. Does that mean that Ubisoft intend to support the game for a long time?

A. Ghost Recon is one of those games that live through its fans and their support. Ubisoft have been supporting the first Ghost Recon and its community for a long time by providing patches and new contents regularly. That is probably one of the reasons why the [Ghost Recon] is still played on the net five years after its release! Be assured that Ubisoft intends to support GRAW the same way, and the additional content we plan to introduce during the next three months is the best proof of our aim to provide the best tactical shooting experience possible!

Q. What can we expect in June in terms of additional content?

A. I am pretty sure fans will be delighted with our first update. Here is what to expect:

Deathmatch mode featuring 3 different maps

Additional coop levels: campaign missions 1, 5, 9 are now playable in co-op

Multiplayer map editor for domination and deathmatch

Display driver check (to ensure the game is launched with correct display drivers)

Anti-aliasing feature

Anti-cheat modifications

And this is only the beginning…

Q. Lots of fans will be happy to see that deathmatch is back, what can they expect to see?

A. I know, fans have been very demanding for this mode and we are very glad to provide a strong DM game experience. Three different maps will be available, including:

Industrial

> An army camp situated in an industrial area, close to a passing highway.

Suburbs

> This is a night map, in a typical "suburb" area. Some larger houses in the area and some shanty houses in the middle of the zone.

Hollow

> This is a valley based map with a central army base/fort like structure. It's got a custom terrain, so it's in a mountainous area.

Be sure we have worked specifically on the level design of these maps to make sure the environment offer large possibilities in terms of strategy and tactic.

Q. What can we expect in future updates?

A. Lots of good things I promise! We will still fix what need to be fixed, propose several new options starting with new servers but our main focus is definitely to continue improving the multiplayer experience and on that side we have great modes on the way. At the end I am confident that GRAW will deliver one of the most exciting multiplayer experiences of all shooting games.

Technical Feedback HERE PLEASE

Please post in a manner that is respectful and of help to the Development Team.

Remember also this work is ongoing over the month of July and August.

Thanks much Colin, GRIN and UBI.... :g_withgrin:

Still getting neverending "BLACKSCREENS" when joining coop or server is changing map in domination-mode!

Hey Grin: One BIG rule of programming is to show the user what's happening behind the scene.

This damned BLACKSCREEN is not the way to do it!!! Please, please change it!

hmmm...well Im having no luck with the patch as are some of my fellow colleagues at TRT.

We have the patch & tried to Install it, some get error messages during the installothers not, however the end result is the same...we cant connect to any MP servers?! We`ve tried uninstalling & then reinstalling, & get this after you uninstall & then reinstall the 1.16 patch it says "hey, your version is already up to date"....der what?! I can only assume that there are registry keys that arent removed with the GRAW uninstall via Windows add/remove.

^^ could use some code tidying up!

Ive now tried 3 differing download sources incase of corruption in the patch, each have installed fine, but Im still not able to join any MP matches.

I should note that I have 4 ...yes 4 network cards in my PC & I gavent got a clue which card GRAW is trying to use to coonect with. I also have this problem with GR1, but at least I can select the IP of the card for it to use, with GRAW I dont know if you can?!

So at the mo, like some others have said...I`ll be putting GRAW back on the shelf with the other dust until I can get something more stable.

Thanks for implementing the print screen key...at last...so easy to code yet so valuable for faults or disputes!!

I'd have to say "well done job" and I do think the patch resolves plenty of old issues. The AI has stepped up I noticed and the game does blur a bit but I enjoy the "AA" they added to this. I was relieved the team now shoots alot quicker, I.D's threats better and stays the hell outta my line of fire when I shoot. Better than before, good job GRIN, you listened to the masses! :g_guns:

I appreciate your efforts to defend your product against piracy, but when you start kicking legitimate users like myself who paid $55 for the game it's frustrating and insulting. As far as I am concerned, the game is now unplayable. It's no fun to have to re-connect to the server after every map change.

Yup, but the good news is they know about it and hopefully trying to resolve it.

I seem to read/hear this comment alot. "where's GR" or "Its not like the original" or something similiar.

I guess I don't really understand. I've played all the GR's and belonged to a gaming community where GR was king for a while. We played some tournaments, had organized tactical training with GR. I've written some missions using the old beloved IGOR.

If people want more original GR there are a TON of missions, campaigns, maps etc the GR community has to offer you.

GR changes with time.....like every game does. We change, the "times" change, warfare changes in real life, computers change, programming ability and technology changes.

To me GRAW has at its core original GR. It still feels "similiar" but yet different because of the things mentioned above. Its a campaign set in Mexico City. Thats the story, thats the intent. Who's to say the next "published" retail add on to GRAW won't be thick in the Jungles somewhere with lush green environments? We just don't know but what we do know is that the conflicts in todays world seem to occur in this "urban" setting in dry, "tan" :P environments. I think GRAW is in "touch with today".

I'm well pleased with GRAW and am very thankful that UBI and GRIN brought this title to us PC Gamers to enjoy.

I waited 2-3min on a black screen and eventually got in, but normally I can't wait that long. Sometimes it takes that long on the intro screens as well.

Do you think that GR4 (if it comes out) will have the "predator suit" that puts an image of whats behind you all down your front, so that in theory you're harder to see in the jungle  Thats meant to be a future thing, too  Would look better than the tan suit.

Would be nice if one of the future patches adjusted the time of day so that it looks like the into video. I think the sky is greyish and there's no glaring sun

Overall the patch is great. I like the new control options (sticky keys, etc.), and in-game movement seems snappier/more responsive.

It's great to see new co-op maps, but as far as I can tell none of the co-op issues that people complained about have been addressed. Things like respawn options, automatic transferring of commander duties if the current commander dies (thereby avoiding a forced end game), no saving, etc. So, for me, co-op is still very much broken. The maps that my friends and I have played are getting pretty boring because if ANYTHING happens (death, glitch, etc.) we have to start all over again. Not great from a playability perspective.

The anti-aliasing isn't very useful as far as I'm concerned. It just makes everything blurry and slows things down a bit (for me, anyway).

But Grin has made considerable changes/additions on the DM side and to the game in general, so even if things still need to be tweaked it's nice to see they're not just resting on their laurels.

Team work rant/

Positive side:

The game is geared toward team work, I can see how it can be usefull. But right now, no one has any urge to work together, I just shadow my team mates and use them as bait to see where this one lone wolf is camping.

The game is very tactical, I have to crouch behind walls, hide in the shadows and shadow my enemey for a while to see if he has allies in the area.

What you need to do is add benifits to Sqauds! Just spawning on the sqaud leader doesn't really help that much.

I think you should implement these following features to improve team work among casual gamers rather then having to get on TS and even that isn't organized unless you are in a clan.

+Sqaud members should have a Green Diamond instead of BLUE

+Sqaud Members must be albe to identify targets to their fellow sqaud members, what the hell? I see an enemy and I have no way of telling my team mate his location? It should only highlight the targets Last location, not track him.

+Sqaud leaders should be able to issue which zones they are attacking, or if they are defending a zone.

+ Sqaud leaders should be able to view their sqaud members actions like in SP ( I was sqaud leader, I was not able to do this in MP, sorry if Missed it)

+ Right now, in all honesty the cross-com doesn't exsist in MP at all, except highliting teammates. The sound dector doesn't work right, it picks up sounds that it wants too, I here someone brustling through on his knee, egding up on me and the damn thing won't flash in which direction it is coming in! I don't have some ubber full surround system, I can't tell where certan sounds are coming from! I depend on this baby!

+Allow Sqaud members to view eachothers damage levels like in CP/SP, I want to know who on my team needs help, who is taking fire! It makes no sense! I can't help my team mate because I don't which one is taking fire, He cannot call for help, he cannot POINT OUT Targets he sees(or their location) and the Tracker only picks up sounds it likes.

In all honesty this is where the game suffers the most, you have not added any support really for teamwork except for the fact that you can use them as bait and track the enemy tracer rounds ._.

Are you guys planning to adress this? Because team work is what this game is suppose to be about, even with voice I can't point out targets for my team mates that accuratley or do alot of things rapdily through shortcuts.

Sadly, BF2 gears more towards team-work than this. But this game does everything else right, the mechanics, hit boxes~all work. Its perfect on the player vs player side, it just doesn't force team work at all!

think about it, when you have a sqaud working together, or even 2 or three people who can point a lone wolf out, track him, The LONE WOLF will soon learn he'll have to take advantage of team-work to gain an even playing field.

Just my opinion, I hope you consider it.

I always play mp coop mission and and I won all first 8 missions at hard level,so new patch arrived with missions 1,5 and 9.

Mission 1 :the problem is you cant get out from heli or when you get out you fall into hell

Mission 5:This on is ok ...I win it

Mission 9:this one crash offen...dont know why?I dont win this one yet.

This game still crash a lot in mp coop(like GR1)lol

Anti cheat is good but wait a bit before starting a game to give it time to clean your room from modders and hackers.(If you start to soon it may kick the player in the guns room...you can loose more than 1 player).

Even those negatives I do love so much this game and I'm so addicted to it and dont play GR1 anymore and I also play less BF2.

I hope that theyre will be some server sides missions(great jobs for you modders)

So welcome to my MP COOP room ''F.O.A.D''

I'm Rpghard your leader cyu

the patch is nice :D but when i reinstall the game including reboots etc.

and then install the patch it says it is already up to date, then goes on installing,

it seems that when uninstalling it does not remove itself from the registry of windows...

and then sometimes it forgets the editor exe...

then uninstall and reboot and install and it does work, but still says it is up to date ... ????

not such a big deal in my opinion but think you ought to know

(needed to reinstall because of changing partitions)
