reverend 0
Hi all, I downloaded the GR demo last week and I've been having alot of fun with it. It seems to work great with my Voodoo5 card. Now I am contemplating buying a full version of the game but I have noticed some of the newer versions (like the Gold version) specifically mention no Voodoo support in the specs. I was wondering if there is a difference in GR versions as far as Voodoo compatability. Like I said, the demo version works well with my card. WhiteKnight77 1
Though the demo may have run on your Voodoo GFX card, none are supported for GR at all. I don't know how well the demo ran on your system (it's under specs for the game and way under specs for more of today's latest games even,) but you should consider a major PC upgrade. At the least, you should consider a decent AGP GFX card if you have the slot for it. In the GR demo folder is a list of supported hardware in the ReadMe file for more information. Remember that Voodoo has been out of business for 2 years and no games currently produced provide support for them.
reverend 0
Gotcha, thanx alot! ...I was just wondering if there was a significant difference in the performance of the voodoo series between the various GR versions. Upon reading your post, I decided to go out and get the Gold edition today, and it runs really well on medium graphics settings (with only mild FPS loss for the most part). I'm definitley planning on a hardware upgrade at some point in the future, but not quite yet. The Voodoo 5 may be outdated, especially compared to the latest Radeon and GeForce cards, but it does a good job of letting me run the game on my machine despite being below the min specs. Thanks again for the input, now its off to play again
reverend 0
Oh yeah... I almost forgot... the reason I'm not so hot to get a new vid card is that the V5 is the best card for Red Baron 3D...an old game to be sure, but it's one my favs and has a permanent place on my hard drive.
