Mission #10 "Fierce Resistance" is resisting my attempts to

Recommended Posts

Strorming the palace I'm getting jammed between evading the bloody helo (used the two available ZEUSes on the tanks and I don't have enough ammo to shoot it down with my carbine), manipulating the rather unwieldy allied tanks into position in the square and finding a way in through the main entrance without being cut down by the MG. This is not one of GRAW's most elegant tactical challenges. Or maybe I'm just not getting something.

Help, anyone?

I took one tank out with my zeus and had a teammate take out the helo. Then I used the friendly tanks to take out the remaining enemy tank. As for the MG, I moved one tank right up to the palace entrance and used it as cover, then peeked behind it and took out the machinegunner. Took a few tries though :)

I took out both tanks initially (when you first attack Zocolo Plaza) with my ZEUS and a teammate AI's ZEUS. It takes some manipulating Kirkland (the AI with the ZEUS) to get him to take the shot, but he does eventually.

I have been taking out the helos with my rifle. It takes a couple of mags, but it works. (Yeah, yeah, so it's not very realistic, but at this point in the game, I don't really care ;))

And I take out the MG behind the doors of the palace with my nade launcher. I just put the nade on the column to his right, and the blast kills him.

I left the tanks alone totally. Took the Helo out with the ZEUS. Then skirted around the tanks, destroyed all the transmitters. Then You get 2 tanks of your own! ;)

I used them to take the tanks out in the plaza. Moved oneof them up to the palace door..and you can target one of the enemies inside with the tank..The blast destroys the MG nest too! :)

Thanks guys. Oh, what a pain in the butt that was. Tanks not going where you want them to -- sometimes facing in the opposite direction to that which was ordered -- and when I could get the thing to stick its main gun through the entrance, it rarely killed the MG inside! Where are it's loader's MG, its .50 cal that can be operated from inside the turret? Sometimes it would be too close to the entrance for my team to be able to make it inside efficiently, in which case they'd be picked off by the Hind and it would be back to sqauare one.

I'm loving this game but the last segment of "Fierce Resistance" was a glitchy chore. Made it out of there with only one teammate, can't see myself playing that mission again any time soon!

I'm amazed that some of you guys were able to play hide-and-seek with the rebel tanks. Do they come after you, or do they stay in the plaza, enabling you to get all the scramblers, only to have to face them again with tanks of your own in the final phase? That would be innovative mission design...

If you go up the alley on the left once your mission changes to finding the scramblers you can totally avoid the square, the tanks stay in the square patrolling up and down the two streets. I went for the scrambler on the far side of the square first and the chopper attacked me near there, I took it out with the zeus. I used the two tanks to get the tanks in the square for the final segment. The friendly tanks are a pain in the but, I would assign them to attack a tank and they'd take one shot then turn the main gun back on the MG nest in the middle, and they always miss until you line them up just right so the main gun hits one of the pillars of the MG nest.

I'm working my way thru it but the most frustrating thing I find is the number of lockups I am encountering. I have to reboot the game an aweful lot on this one. Anyone else having this problem?

Fighting my way thru this tough mission OK. Decided to go back to the beginning and rearm with everything I could get because by the time I got to the palace I was down to the last few rounds of my pistol. This time I am avoiding the tanks till I get my tanks and saving the Zeus for the Helo. The real challenge is getting anywhere without the game locking up. It's happening over and over again and all I can do is reboot the game and start over. Is this happening to anyone else? Is there a solution? I'd hate to turn down some settings. I'm running a 3.0gig HT Pentium with a gig of DDR and a brand new 7800 OC card.

Finaly throwing in the towel!! After playing this mission 12 times, and having at least

7 lockups, I got killed twice. I never had a chance to arm with the zeus?? It is so annoying

to have to play such a long hard mission without a save option. Going back to GR1 and

other games, that are enjoyable to play.

I was having problems too and in one try both my tanks got whacked and they only knocked out one tank. So I went to the tunnel that lines up with the farthest tank and waited till he turned and was driving away from me and put a rocket into him.

Then I ordered my teammate to attack the helo. He was still in the tunnel and said he didn't have a shot. BUT the helo still blew up. I should've went back and checked his back cause I think the rocket came from the jet support.

I had no problem with it. I hit the plaze from the side initially, not from directly across from the entrance. The tanks came into view one at a time- first the close one, then the farther one. I shot the first one with a ZEUS, then managed to order Kirkland to fire only his second hit (both with guided missiles, btw) of the game on the other tank. This left no ZEUS for dealing with the TWO different enemy helicopters, but that's what we apparently brought the machinegun along for. Brown scored big against the helicopters there, but he's still an overexcitable redneck.

All three teammates went on to live through the whole campaign.

In MUCH better shape than CPT Mitchell, I might add.

As for the MG inside the door, that's what God made hand grenades for, lad. Someone in the air apparently hit that door for me. I never screwed with the tanks at all. When we extracted I saw them still sitting there, right down the street from the APC. They deserved a break after the hostage thing. But just chuckd a grenade or two through the doorway next to the MG nest and BAM! Bye bye, scorpion rancher.

By the way, did anyone else see the mariachi in there? I could SWEAR he looked just like Antonio Banderas...

I think some people should stop complaining about "###### this no save game I'm going to play Barbie Dollz".

I haven't had any problems with the checkpoints-only save and I often say "###### is the mission done already?". I'm playing it on normal difficulty. I don't think it is that hard. Just play it smart.

I got the game last sunday and I am in last mission. Not playing everyday.

I think a few people (not all, by any means) should stop complaining about people complaining. Of course, this means that I am complaining about people complaining about people complaining. And if someone complains about THAT, the world might implode, and no more Barbie Dollz for any of us. Like using one Staples easy button to find another one. DRASTIC consequences...

W/E man, let's just have a cup of coffee and stay up 'all night drinking apple schnapps and playing Tekken 2" shall we?

"Ah ha ha... When was that?"

"That was five years ago, Shaun. When's he going home?"

Hydro, your post was off topic for this thread. You have a tech issue with the game crashing, this thread is about completing a mission, not GRAW crashing. We have a forum specifically for technical issues, including crashes, I am sure you would stand a better chance of finding a resolution if you posted in there, with as much data as possible. I have therefore moved your post there, you can find it by clicking here.
