Bahger
Just curious: I had to backtrack in order to rearm with the ZEUS from the supply helo before destroying the antenna because in previous attempts I found it impossible to make it to the next waypoint (extraction) without destroying the tank. Now, there is no warning of a tank in the briefing so am I right to assume that you have to trial-and-error this mission, eventually realising that you need the AT weapon, or has anyone finished it by evading the tank without having equipped the ZEUS?? rookie
Don't know, since I had the possibilty to equip the ZEUS I did so, or gave one to my ghosts if the team was with me. I went to a couple of allys right of the tank so there wasn't really a need for me to destroy it. I did it anyway, with a big smile over my face enjoying this big explosion and sound. Maybe if you move fast through the allys (over the traintracks all the way right of the tank), you could possibly make it. Would be interesting to hear if anyone made it without ZEUS though. =WO=TekHousE
I did it without the zeus! I went through the right side and avoided the tank completely. It moved into the busted up warehouse and out the other side, but I was already at the chopper by then. Basically from the antenna save point, I just ran flat out in as straight a direction as I could manage. towards the chopper. I could hear enemies shooting at me, but because I was moving I did not get hit.
TimberWolf
Yes you can just stay to the right. Avoid the tank. At a certain point it will come to you and then go away.

Sameer
Same mission different problem, I've got as far as the supply helo (just after the 2nd save point), but the thing won't land. It it turns and tries to land but gets caught in a tree in the courtyard, i've tried reloading and going back to the 1st save point and moving forward to see if it changes, but it still gets caught. I must have loaded the same point a good 20 times now and everytime it gets caught. It's really annoying because I can't progress untill it lands and I get my next save point. Does anyone have any ideas about what to do about this? Thanks Sameer

Sameer
LOL, no doubt. Edit: This is what happends> The wheel gets caught, I can use grenades to get the wheel free, but then the cockpit gets caught as well and it takes all my grenades to just get the wheels free. spotH3D
Man, I didn't have that problem with the helicopter. Perhaps you have to start the level over again? By that I mean you go to the choose mission part and select it again. To address the OP, I did not use a zues, just M99, MP5sd, extra 9mm, and lots of running! Bahger
Interesting. Maybe that's how I'll play it next time. Still, that's a lot of running, as you have to avoid various snipers and a whole bunch of rebels in the train yards not to mention keeping clear of the tank once it comes after you on your way to the next objective. Is it worth it?

The wheel gets caught, I can use grenades to get the wheel free, but then the cockpit gets caught as well and it takes all my grenades to just get the wheels free. That's really frustrating, Sameer. I hope you fix it. If starting from a savepoint or even the beginning of the mission does not work, I think you should investigate a workaround like a cheat code or an imported savegame. A PM to one of the more accessible GRIN-ners on this board might do the trick. Let us know what happens... Sameer
Yeh, will do. I noticed in the list of things that the patch fixes something about helicopters not falling down or something similar and i wonder if thats what it fixes. I'll just wait and see and let you know. Thanks for the Help Edit: No, downloaded the patch and restarted the mission, not from the 1st save but from the campaign menu choose mission option and still no change, still gets caught in that damn tree. I Think you were right about contacting a GRIN person, any suggestions on which one? Edited May 24, 2006 by Sameer

Andylg_R
Question!? To missions "Guardrail IX" (mission09.xml) it is written - destroy Guardrail IX, that we and do: <string id="mission09_header_guardrail" value="Disable Guardrail IX"/> <string id="mission09_wp_guardrail" value="Guardrail IX"/> <string id="mission09_txt_guardrail" value="Locate the antenna that emits the scrambling signal and destroy it." So why this Guardrail IX is again mentioned in mission mission11.xml. We have already destroyed it? string id = "m11_message_briefing" value = " Execute a covert operation, infiltrate the palace and secure General Ontiveros barricaded inside. Intel suggests that both the Football and Guardrail IX are on site. The retrieval of both is essential. Or I am easy something I do not understand? Judge_Recluse
Answer please a post #19 !? PS: I am sorry for broken English Are you asking why Guardrail shows up in mission 11, after you destroyed it in mission 9?
RAbbi_74
Answer please a post #19 !? PS: I am sorry for broken English Are you asking why Guardrail shows up in mission 11, after you destroyed it in mission 9? In Mission #9 you destroy only the ANTENNA. This is NOT Guardrail IX, as that antenna would NEVER fit inside an RC-12 aircraft. It's twice the size of an RC-12. I AM a bit curious where GRIX was during that whole thing... Andylg_R
Judge_Recluse Are you asking why Guardrail shows up in mission11.xml, after you destroyed it in mission 9? Yes about it I ask. RAbbi_74 In Mission #9 you destroy only the ANTENNA. This is NOT Guardrail IX,... 1) Then why after undermining the antenna, written that "Objective completed: Disable Guardrail IX ", as-as if we have destroyed Guardrail IX? Or here simply error in writing a assigned task? It turns out that if read tasks of mission, then Mission #10 contradicts Mission #8. 2) And in Mission #10 "Fierce Resistance" though it is written about Guardrail IX,... but him anywhere did not see!? 3) Also explain that is meant under Guardrail IX in this game - the aircraft of radio-electronic investigation RC-12 or the multi-function device of radio-electronic investigation? And in general is present Guardrail IX at the Editor maps (I could not find it)?

And in general is present Guardrail IX at the Editor maps (I could not find it)? OK, Guardrail IX was using that antenna to transmit a jamming signal of some sort, yes? My friend? OK, so if the ANTENNA is DESTROYED, then GRIX is technically disabled, at least temporarily, from completing its jamming mission. Nor did I see it anywhere in the game. The actual component, Guardrail IX, I doubt was ever written-in as an object at all. Nor the 'Football.' That in particular was disappointing, becuase I really REALLY wanted to try to grab it at the end of the next mission and run like HELP with it. They called me the baddest mother in Mexico, let's see them stop me! The world will be MINE!!! Oh yeah, Guardrail IX was meant in the game to describe a peice of equipment from the RC-12 plane, not the RC-12 plane itself. Exactly what size, shape, and color is it? WAIT, why do you wanna know THAT?! LMAO!!!!!
