Need some help in DreamWeaver

As some of you know, I've lately been working to get the WytchDokta.com website finished.

It has taken me ages because I couldn't originally decide how I wanted it to look, hence the site has been through eight face-lifts already and it's not even launched yet (working on it offline 'til I finish it, then I'll be uploading it). I've finally settled with making the entire site image only. That's right, every page is made from three or four images. Doing it in such a way is the only way I could get it to look how I wanted it to look. What I've done is, I've made the images in Photoshop 7 and Paintshop Pro 8, and I the text in Photoshop 7 too. Then I just edited the html source code to place my images in.

However, developing the website in such a way has now created another (even bigger) problem..... I need to make certain areas of my images into links. So I fired up DreamWeaver MX2004 under the assumption that I could drag out a selection box around the area I want to make into a link..... I have a good look and mess about in DW, but I couldn't where I could do this. I've seen it done on other websites.

So how do I make little areas of my images (NOT the entire image) into links using DW? Don't tell me I gotta cut up the images (again) in ImageReady, and make them links using html. Any help will be greatly appreciated as always.

Umm why dont u slice it in PS (slice those areas where u want links to be), choose "Save for web" option, save html with images and than open it in Dreamweaver? U'll have tables all set up in DW.

U just need to edit it with links after it.

You can do exactly what you describe. Drag a box out over the area you wish to make a link, and enter the url that links should go to. It's called a imagemap hotspot.

• Click on image in design view
  
• In the Properties Inspector (usually bottom of page) type a name in the map box (anything)
  
• Select one of the 3 shapes below that box
  
• Click and drag on the image to make a blue shape - this is your link area
  
• Release the mouse and fill in the link dialog

Oh, I almost forgot: Rocky, will the method you stated above allow me to drag out several link areas for one .jpg? My main content consists of just one .jpg, but I need to make several links from it.

I think you can use hotspot and layers. This lets you place certain parts of images as links or when you move over that part of the image something will pop up

Cool, well thanx for all the replies guys. Hopefully I'll have it sorted within the next few days (I've just gotta finish of the "Prophecy" page), then add the hotspot links and finish incorporating the rest of the soundbytes. I've updated the layout etc (again) so now it's a brand new incarnation. Looks even better now, plus it's alot more colourful. So the pic of the last incarnation you saw as a snaek peek is obsolete now Rocky. I'll post up some pics very soon. This incarnation is now entirely one .jpg (805x605 pixels main image background with the rest of the content within). That one .jpg is centered on a standard html black background. What I've done can be considered a new concept (not so much what I've done, but how I've done it). You know what they say, "seeing is believing" so lemme go get some pics of it.... Also this incarnation of the site utilises some exclusive vocordings made by Squad_E, and this incarnation WILL be completed and released into the public domain.

So yeah, consider this post the calm before the storm....
