DisgruntledArchitect
I just want to confirm that this isn't a bug. Mission #5 (Mayday! Mayday!) is a solo mission, correct? Just Mitchell and the drone?
DeanJP10
That what I ran it as. Finished ok solo.
DisgruntledArchitect
That what I ran it as. Finished ok solo. Thanks, I figured it was, but I couldn't figure out why Mitchell would be riding alone in a Blackhawk. It was actually very nice to not have to babysit the AI teammates, and the drone never takes cover behind the wrong side of a corner or blocks your line of fire. Elder_MMHS
Wow, that was an interesting mission. Very fulfilling. I finished it on my first attempt moving slowly for a couple hours, sustaining half a dozen injuries but otherwise making it through okay. Worked down to my last rifle magazine too using the MR-C equipped with scope + silencer. The silencer was both a curse and a blessing. While the noise and muzzle flash reduction/suppression was extremely helpful, it really brought down its already-meager impact. I had to make three-round burst shots consistently and when my targets were on the fringe of the rifle's effectiveness, I often had to tag them with two bursts. The climax at the castle was a bit frustrating... I ran out of grenades and with my pea shooting rifle running out of ammo there was no way for me to take out the turret at the gate. I kept aiming past the top of the outer wall with my Apache call and after about a dozen tries on a few pixels, I got it to lock on the artillery unit from outside! After that it was just chaotic. Two jeeps drove past me as I hugged the slope down from the castle towards extraction. Luckily for me, each car was moving fast and the gunner's aim was sloppy as ever while I pumped three rounds into each one's head. Anyways, fun fun and again, very fulfilling. Degamer
Thanks, I figured it was, but I couldn't figure out why Mitchell would be riding alone in a Blackhawk. Not only do they myseteriously dissapear fromt he blackhawk mid flight, the mysteriously re-apear in the APC that extracts you. I can just imagine that little conversation... Mitchele: So where the hell were you guys when I was taking on half the mexican army by my self???? Brown: . . . . Kirkland: . . . . Allen: Sir, lunch break, sir. Union requirements. Kakanater
I am now playing the 5th missio MayDay Mayday nad was wondering why you don't get your other squad members on this mission. Or do you get them later in the mission. But I do like this mission it reminds me of Splinter Cell in the way that it is dark out and you have try and be stealthy. Anyone have any answers please answer.
Degamer
Its a solo mission, but WHY its a solo missions, or why your team disapears mid blackhawk flight is never explained. sorta like the embassy exploding in VIP 2, we'll never know.

Dannik
I have to assume it's purely a design element carried over from the Lone Wolf missions in Ghost Recon 2 and Summit Strike. Although I haven't played GRAW beyond the demo yet, I know that the two GR2 titles at least explained why Captain Mitchell was being sent in alone. Not terribly well, but it was explained. The idea was that a single soldier, with enough technology to assist them, could carry out missions as well, and at times better, than a larger squad could. Your mentioning of Splinter Cell certainly lends credence to it.

DisgruntledArchitect
You know, that mission came the closest to recreating the feeling of GR1 for me; without AI teammates to systematically alert the enemy to your presence by firing at them, you can actually sneak around, set up shots, etc. Frankly, I think Cypher is the best teammate there is: it may not shoot, but it doesn't stand still in front of gun emplacements, block your line of fire, or take cover on the wrong side of a corner. Whistle
thats a great mission, except for assaulting that castle... that damn MG in the wall always got me.
Danish1705
Basically this mission is easy, much more easier without having the need to control the AI, one man gang, u and u trusty SCAR. I basically just do the hit and run tactics, as for the MG in the castle, i nail him with a grenade launcher, and the MG downhill, i nail him on da foot with SCAR-L. The rest just let them come and pop em on da head or butt. Now im on the next mission "ready for bear", cant wait to play on HARD mode. Kakanater
This mission has been the easiest so far. I beat it in 30 minutes which great time. There was no actual hard part to this mission. All you people complaining about the machine gun in the castle. ITS NOT THAT HARD. just wait for him to stop shooting then peek out and pop a few rounds into his legs. I beat that part on my first attempt but then died when the HUmvee type thing came down the road. Very cool mission like splinter cell. Cool lighting too especially the flashlights the soldiers have

shaBAM!
I've been having SO much fun with GRAW up until this point. This mission is DRIVING ME CRAZY. Who's &*%#ing idea was it to put a machine gun right in front of the only damn entrance (from my knowledge) to the castle on this mission? IS there some way to FLANK this emplaced weapon? I've literally died a hundred times on this mission, and I'm getting ready to smash this game disk in the vise in my garage. Thats how frustrated I am right now. Could someone please give me some advice on how to go about destroying this target? I have no grenades left by the way.
ruggbutt
Run the tank into the entrance, it'll only go so far. While dude is staring at the Abrams, go to the right side and so a peek and shoot him. There's a guy on the balcony all the way back too. But I'm sure you'll see him soon enuf.
shaBAM!
Since when do you get armour support on that mission? I only have support from an Apache... and my drone.

Wrong mission there, ace. You're thinking of... the one where you have to take two tanks out in the beginning. He is talking about the one when the CH-47 gets shot down and you're all alone. Okay, which entrance are you talking about here?

LiberatorEbola
Throw some frags over the wall. He said he has no grenades left... thats always the best thing to do, frag 'em to hell.
shaBAM!
OK, I am playing "Mayday, Mayday" and I have destroyed two artillery peices, and now I am moving on the one inside the castle. After fighting my way to the castle there is an emplaced weapon right in front of the entrance of the castle with no way to maneuver around it. I am completely out of explosives. I would imagine even if I had grenades left I would have to move out into the open to get him because the emplaced weapon is under a roof with sandbags around it. If I try to peak around the corner and get a shot at his legs he has me dead far before I can get my sights on him. This is nothing how Ghost Recon should be, there is zero strategy involved here, you have to be a crackshot to get him.
LT.INSTG8R
I tend to do the solo missions with the M99 and the M8-C so I just creep up the hill until I can just see him and boom he's done(trick is saving enough ammo till then)
