silent_op
Ghost Flashlights...Maybe? As most of you have seen by now, some of the tangos have flashlights on their guns. When the modding tool is released, do any of think it would be possible to use a modded flashlight mount in place of the "N" key night vision? I was just curious about this. It would be even cooler if the tangos would react to seeing your light. silent_op
Scubaman3D
It will probably be possible, but why would you want to sacrifice nightvision for a flashlight? In any case, if you're curious, take a look at the tango weapon files to see if there is a line about a flashlight.

It would also be cool for anyone looking to make a mod that takes the Ghosts out of their 2013 future warrior gear. silent_op
Razors-3Dge
it can be a mex vs mex or something, no hightek stuff just the run of the mill M4 and M16 with flashlights and aimpoints.
insane snyper
Actually I think flashlights would add an interesting gameplay element at night. Theres always that 'do I turn it on and give away my position, or leave it off and not be sure if thats a guy?'
CrowmanUK
Yeah there was a gametype for Unreal tournament where all the maps were in darkness and you had torches, turn em on and you could see where you were going but you were one big target then, it was a lot of fun for the UT games, darkmatch I think it was called. paulkel
Hi silent op, I've been looking at the weapon files, a lot, lately and the G36 with the flashlight is a totally separate gun to the G36 without. In other words the flashlight is not available as a weapon mod for any weapon, it is built into the "G36 flashlight " weapon model. The only way to use a flashlight weapon would be to make the G36 flashlight weapon available for use by the player and the Ghost ai, at the moment it is available for use by enemy ai only. That might be do-able if I can figure out how to for example take an existing weapon that not many use, e.g. the Glock and switch or rename every reference to the Glock to the G36 flashlight. I have tried it and the G36 flashlight is available in the loadout screen but the game crashes when I try to select it. I need to figure out which files the game looks for, and there are several, to display a weapon in the loadout screen, after all the weapon does work in the 3d part of the game itself. Just thinking out loud here .. If anybody has any ideas on this please respond. Regards ...

I think the problem is that there is no 3rd_person files for the mex weaps. I know that you have to mod both the atlas_weapons\weapon name\difuse_set0\weapon name_df.dds and the corosponding 3rd_person\weapon name\difuse_set0\weapon name.dds files for changes to take effect for both Mitchel and the AI. The fact that there are no 3rd_person textures probably means that Mitchel cant actually handle that weapon (oddly enough, I think 3rd person texture files are for 1st person view..but I could be way off here... I suspect that friendly, non-ghost AI like, say the tank crew you have to rescue during the SP game could carry one. As far as the load out screen goes, with the right modifications, I think that weap might be able to show up there and could probably be given to the ghost AI, but not Mitchel. I guess also, you would have to change the lib\managers\xml\weapon_data.xml file as well, so that it could be loaded in the GUI. Hacksaww
I think the reason I might want a flashlight would be to travel through semi-dark spaces on a daytime map. For instance, I think having a flashlight would be more efficient than having the entire screen "greeened out" when walking through a 10 meter long corridor. Plus, a flashlight won't have to be turned on and off to function in dark/light environments: I could walk through the corridor with the flashlight on, and leave it on when I walk outside, and turn it off when I'm ready to. Also, the flashlight would be an attachment like a GL or a sight. For instance, it would have an effect on stability with it on. This is just a thought, maybe more attachments in the game altogether would be nice. I really wish I knew how to mod.
