I'm getting the same crash/error. 3800 dual core, 1 GB Ram, 6800 GS running 84.21 drivers, SB Audigy with latest drivers.

This is really frustrating.

I've having the same problem. Sometimes I can go 30 minutes without a crash. Sometimes I can only go 5 minutes. Sometimes the screen freezes but the sound continues. I have to bring up the task manager to end the program. Other times it crashes to the desktop altogether and puts me into safe mode. I've got the patch. I've also tried all sorts of different nvidia drivers. My drivers for the sound card and version of directx is current. My setup should be sufficient...3GHZ dual core, 1GB ram, 256mb card. I'm pulling my hair out. This is a pretty common computer (XPS 400) so I know I'm not the only one. Here's what the crash log says...

Anyone find a fix for this? My friend has a dual core, ATI crossfire MB and he gets the same problem. We've tried everything from updating all the drivers, using a single cpu, re-installing DirectX after he updated everything, and so far nothing has worked.

I have a pretty super high-end system

e6600 core 2 duo @ 3.5Ghz

1GB of DDr2 8500

x1900xt Overclocked to max (690/800) running at 1680x1050

Water-cooled system

10K HDD

X-fi sound card

and I still get the same exact error/crash on the first freaking level!

I have patched GRAW to 1.3 and still have no luck

I have come tot he conclusion that it is the 1GB RAM, i think i need at least 2GB.

This is a fun problem.

Its not all that hard to fix but hard to figure out.... It took me a few days of messing with settings and differnent things to get it right.

Here is the deal. You all have Nvidia graphics cards. There is a bug in GRAW that makes them very unhappy.

First you need to check in your Nvidia Control panel (Make sure your in Classic View or you wont see it) for an option to called "Frames to render ahead" and default is 3. Change it to zero and its fixed.

If you dont have the option you need to get "Coolbits 2.0" and install it. You then will have the option plus some you prolly have never seen there and also the ability to OC your video card. (Dont do that unless you know what your doing). Make sure you have the latest Nvidia Forceware before you do this. Good luck.

Hi I have the same problems,

mi friend has the same graphics card as I have , i have even a better procesor, the only diference is that he has 2gb RAM and I have only 1gb RAM, So far his one did not crasch yet. But one thing I would like to see is a screen shot of the setting that has been posted in the article above for the Nvidia as all the seting I have are in Czech and I cant figure out were to set it. Please can someone help and post it here ?

The info in the article at http://www.tweakguides.com/GRAW_8.html helped me.

The setting in question is called 'Max Frames to Render Ahead', and it is usually hidden from the normal Nvidia Forceware Control Panel options. To enable it, I recommend using NVTweak 1.71, since NVTweak is easier to use to enable/disable this option (compared to Coolbits) and has other functionality which can come in handy. Run NVTweak and tick the 'Additional Direct3D' box, then close NVTweak. Now go into your Forceware Control Panel, and under the 'Performance & Quality Settings' item you will find a new item called 'Additional Direct3D Settings', click on it and you will see this option.

I installed NVTweak then right clicked on my desktop and selected properties, settings, advanced, GEForce ..., 'Additional Direct3D Settings', and changed it from 3 to 0. Now it hasn't crached yet.

hello all.

I have a big problem. I have installed Nvtweak, and I followed the procedure.

But in my Nvidia Control center i do not have the new "item called Additional Direct3D Settings"

My graphic card is an Nvidia Geforce 8500 Gt.

I think I'll buy a 8800 Ultra.

This game was super but this graphic problem was not.

And excuse me for my language. I'm new in this topic and i'm French.

Unfortunately, the Coolbits/NVTweak option does not function well, or at all, with the later ForceWare revisions.

I don't happen to use it but the utility nHancer http://www.nhancer.com/ is said to offer the type of adjustments that you are looking for (Optimizations -Prerender limit), to be easy to use, and has a low overhead.

Note: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 required http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.as...dd-aab15c5e04f5

You might benefit more if you put in a second gig of ram.... I had this problem with my geforce 6600 back at the beginning, al tweaks didn't help untill I installed my second gig of ram. get 1 extra gig of ram and buy a 8800 GT/GTS thats more bang for bux, the top cards are always too expensive.
