stugots
I had a lot of trouble till I buckled down and really utilized my tac. map. I actually got from checkpoint 3 to the end of the mission with only 2 reloads. It took a while, but I assigned new tactics to each squad member at every block. A huge help at the end was spreading my team up. I had a rifleman covering the SW and another covering the SE/E. What I think helped the most was my sniper assigned just north of the statue facing the embassy.
REDMONSTER
im playing this missin right now, was easy till after the ambush and then man ahs it gotten hard. what really sucks is i just finally got to the drop point and then i get a wared glitch or something where the whole screen goes black with a liottle strip of blue on the top :S and i had to close gr out nad i dont think it saved my progree
bhh_
Checkpoint #3 took a lot longer for me than the Embassy extraction also. The Apache's light it up and I called it in a few times on dug in infantry too, hehe.
_werewolf_
I'm on mission 2 checkpoint 8 (may be mission 3, not sure. The one where you escort the VIP and save the President) and I have to take out a tank or I can't proceed. The problem with that is I have no grendaes, no rockets or anything. I just have a gun and that's it. So, how do I beat a tank without anti-tank weapons? I just can't see a way around it... DisgruntledArchitect
You should be given directions to go to the roof of the parking garage, where there's a Blackhawk waiting; you can resupply and equip yourself and other team members with anti-tank weapons, there. Check your current objectives.
Bahger
Run away from the tank first, into the parking structure or behind it. Then you will get your orders about the resupply chopper. The mission designers wanted you to be terrified of that honking great tank and to learn the necessity of keeping away from it before they give you an out. Even if you had frags or M-203s they'd be of no use. You need air support or a ZEUS, or a miracle.
_werewolf_
Ah, got it, thanks people. I must have missed that update I got that told me to go to the roof. I thought I was completely screwed.
xdevnull
I'm really hating this - there should really have been a save after you get the vip in the chopper - that at least would leave out having to watch the ######**** building blow up one-more-time. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRr
unwritt3n
i finnaly did this last nite!!!! ###### that was hard... but intense!!! was good i only had 2 ghosts... 1 was near the statue, and the other was back at the building at the SW. All had covering orders.. and i stayed at the statue as well.
Zorianarki
The Apaches can also be used against the APC's and stuff, that makes it a lot easier, I beat it with all meh guys up on the second floor covering all directions and myself on top of the stairs going nowhere. As others have, I spend a lot more time destroying the two Artillery things on the way to the embassy, than I did defendin the embassy. Brainman2k
played some more yesterday evening. but im still stuck with defending the embassy. either im getting killed by tank fire or by some mexicans who made it to the stairs of the embassy-building where i keep hiding from the tanks fire. man ive got to try harder.... ...but fun nevertheless! SBT_CrunchyFrog
I can't get to the embassy. I can get to the statue and see the embassy blow up but when I try to get to the way point I keep getting told I am out of the mission area. Did I miss something? I went back and rechecked the map and there are no tango's. So frustrating.

That will in turn trigger the embassy phase. These missions are very dependent on triggers to open up new map sections.
SBT_CrunchyFrog
I destroyed the AA units and reloaded at the Blackhawk. It did the same thing to me when I was first approaching the statue but I found a narrow trail that let me through. I might just have to restart this mission. Not that I want to but I may have to. Bahger
I destroyed the AA units and reloaded at the Blackhawk. It did the same thing to me when I was first approaching the statue but I found a narrow trail that let me through. I might just have to restart this mission. Not that I want to but I may have to. I have a feeling that the trigger area is too small on this large map segment. Before you reload the mission try patrolling all the routes between the main drag where Checpoint #3 started and the supply drop to the south-west. It's several blocks, with multiple routes. Did you take out the MG nests? If not, watch out for them. May be worth trying rather than reloading this somewhat tricky mission.
SBT_CrunchyFrog
I'll take a look. I am pretty sure I got all the MG nests. But who knows. Thanks for the help.
Hostile Person
Its a good mission and a challenging one (playing hard all the way). I only had problems keeping my AI mates alive and sometimes getting shot by the tank. I assigned positions for AI to cover all sides, but one side where there is a collapsed wall was always broken trough and there I lost one guy always. I tried to put the guys in different positions but always someone got a cap in the head after they tried to pull of some of their own stuff. They just wouldnt stay put in the places I ordered them to. If everything was going well, I get hit obviously. I was ###### of after 20.th time and ordered all my guys outside the embassy on all sides where they all covered one direction and shot the enemy from a far and were in a position couldnt be flanked or hit by tanks. All the guys performed well and got trough the mission after a few tries.
Brainman2k
FINALLY i got past mission 3. hardest part was not to be blown up by tank fire while targeting for the apaches. but i noticed, that there are always some blind spots, where the tanks cannot see you. the thing was: you have to find them. now im in mission 4 "strongpoint". an excellent map. played it in coop before. Elder_MMHS
I found the tanks pretty difficult to deal with too. The key was not only to hide from them but dispatch them quickly with the Apaches once you spot them. I had the most success with this setup: 1) positioned my SAW gunner at the corner of the wall near the VIP and covering south, 2) put my rifleman behind the huge boulder debris "in" the embassy lot covering general east and especially the flanking hole along the east wall, 3) placed sniper upstairs on the west side behind a wall that blocks cross-fire from the east, covering far south (basically where you run from when you see the embassy explode), 4) myself upstairs as well but on the east side snug + crouched against the short broken wall covering the sneaky NE flank, east, and far south. You get a pretty commanding view of the standoff from here but are exposed to fire coming from the south. You can always use a scope or sniper rifle to pick off anyone spraying lead down your path. Combined with the two marine guards watching E and S, this was a pretty successful covering pattern. No one died (a couple injuries tops). No grenades or GLs needed. If you place any Ghosts or yourself outside the embassy wall they're pretty much toasted by the tanks if you don't get the Apaches on them immediately. I never ventured out of this zone... I figured it would be difficult enough to thwart off 2 fields of fire... why venture to the center monument/statue and battle 360 degrees? Xone
The end of that mission was amazing. I played the XBOX version before PC came out and it showed the fake news report of that scene at the end and I said to myself "I wish it looked like that". I play this level on PC now and it does look as good as that fake news report in the XBOX version. It felt so real. If they made it so you could go into a few other rooms and fire out the windows that would have been even more amazing but who am I to complain, that was crazy. After dropping off the V.I.P, i take it he went to the left of the embassy, past the monument and also moved his entire team there??
