Tr4nC3R
Is there anybody who can shed some light on why some GR servers run quick map times. I am refering to 5.00 min. I understand that some maps are small, but does this not just encourage people to just run arround throwing grens and blasting off heavy arsenal. I have seen this and wonder why these guys don't just play another game that was designed with this intent. Quake/urban terror, UT,spring to mind. I came over to GR to slow things down a bit, but it seems there is a trend developing here that depicts fast and sensless gameplay.
Cavalier
I agree with you, except that the trend isn't developing, it's always been there. Most people play like that anyway.
WhiteKnight77
Given that most people (not all mind you) have a short attention span and prefer the run and gun style of gameplay, they feel the need to have a 5 minute round. These you will mostly find on team or solo type servers. Now at the GR.net server you will find at least a 15 minute time period unless I am there and either lengthen it to 20 so as to be able to complete the mission or reduce it for fun runand gun style games. There are times I have no time limit so we can complete everything with no rushed feelings.
ArchAngeL143
If you've ever played in a GR match thats run for 3+ hours (team vs) you would understand why the public servers are setup that way. The GRnet guys generally speaking play co-op games which run longer, but when your playing Team Vs. there is no reason to lay at the spawn with a sniper rifle and wait for the other guy, what fun is there in that? Your simply making someone on the other team search for you so you can win...... Personally I wont join a TeamVs. server thats set for longer then 10 mins and I look for the servers that are setup for 5 mins, you play have your firefight and start again. the.ronin
yeah i think wk is right ... if you see a 5 min game, chances are its infinite resp and ti rambo madness. personally (usually playing coop), i like running 10 min warm up firefights and 15 minute missions. any longer and (i) for people that die early like me dont have to wait so dang long and (ii) so there is some sense of time urgency and it isnt camp-city or crawl-to-the-other-side-of-the-map-central. Tr4nC3R
Do you agree if I was to say that eventually those whome play GR in this way will eventually make a transition towards BHD. With its progressive spawn points, its gotto attract players of this type. It will lenghthen the game plus accomodate tacticle play over longer time periods without getting bored and losing attention !. I think so, maybe you disagree ? The game looks set to rock, but I understand that GR and BHD are two entirely different games. BHD still looks set to rock, but maybe not as much as GR. Lets see who attracts to it
WickedWeasel
We run Team vs. Team games all the time, with a normal time limit of 15 mins. Mainly because the Ladder we play on has a timed limit of 15 min. matches. Sometimes I will run longer times...deppends on how I feel. When I run Co-Op games I usually have a 30 min time limit to make sure the mission is completed. This game can be fun when played as a run and gun 5 min free for all, but thats definitely not the way to get the best out of this most perfect game. GG's All.
