It seems some people, even with high end cards, are not getting the high option, I do though. Try opening the settings xml file and manually edit it to high.

I have a 7800GT with 256MB RAM and I only get low/medium.

"Thats Odd!"

Rocky, what GFX card do you have?

EDIT: AARGH! Too slow. I am sure the answer is in your 512MB video RAM.

Haha, you were right about XML, I changed the textures to high in the file, and now the HIgh option is selected, note: if you try to edit it ingame it MAY disapear as an option to select again.

Testing ingame now...

"Crash in application version: grpcdemorc1.04

Could not load texture because IDirect3D9::CreateTexture call failed.

Direct3D does not have enough display memory to perform the operation."

sorry mates ;_;...it is the memory.

You can change the settings in the renderer_settings xml file. I changed the character textures, ground textures and building textures to high... and it still plays smoothly and it looks better now.

My rig

P4 3.0 ghz HT

1 gb ram

geforce 6800 256 mb

sound blaster live 24

160 gb hd

17 inch lcd display

I also downloaded the latest beta drivers from nvidia, it gives the game a bit of a boost.

I edited the xml render file so that every medium setting reads "high", as well as upped the resolution to 1680x1050 for my 7900GT, and it looks noticeably better than the medium settings. The soldiers look great.

No crashing or anything.

3 shots I took with the "everything on high and 1680x1050" settings:

...images that try to scale to my window...

Heh, did you only take two guys with you, or did you lose one along the way? :D

Ahem, well, one of them sort of... got in the way of my fun with the grenade launcher at the beginning of the mission. :shifty:

Installed the demo and the graphics are able to run at 'High'.

No tweaking, no xml render file slashing or whatever...

Sys; two years old AMD XP2800+ / 1.5Gb 333mhz ddr pc 2700 / ATI X1600pro 512Mb / SB live 5.1 and other minor hardware. The demo looks awesome [1280x1024], I'm very anxious to 'meet' the full game next week. :charge:

Just a note: to avoid the error I got (i'm guesing this is where the game checks how much memory your graphic card DOES have.)

Do not set <variable name="texture_quality" value="medium" /> to High, but all the other options on high, you should get the same level of detail I assume, I see a great improvement.

Right now I"m playing with variable names trying to find AA =)
