Cpl Ledanek 247
Full Screen version after deleting some folders like my unzip files I started having some slow down and hangs, i.e I'd right click on my recycle bin to explore it would hang. Or if I logged in it would hang for a while before I could get to my desktop. If it did, it would hang there too. I opened my My Computer folder and it hanged for a while, I ironed 5 shirts and it was still hanging then maybe 2 minutes later it finally opened up. What gives? thanks in advance Edited April 24, 2006 by Cpl Ledanek
Ruin 17
The link to the larger pic isn't working. I know it's the obvious question, but have you rebooted yet to see if that helps? It's possible your RAM needs a refresh.

Ruin 17
Description: UAService7.exe is a process belonging to the SecuROM User Access Service which is used to access disk images protected by SecureRom. This program is non-essential process to the running of the system, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems. Try ending it and see if it helps? Not sure what to tell you. I know when my PC acted up for no reason, it's because my HS/Fan was gummed up with dust and wasn't very effective. It's a longshot, but you never know.
Cpl Ledanek 247
ending those processes did speed things up. Now that I rebooted, I'm worried why its taking this long to get back to desktop. Its almost like 2 minutes before it goes to the log-in window (for multiple accnts) After logging myself its taking another minute for the Window chime/sound to come on, then 15-20 sec to desktop 3minutes into it, I would right click on the recycle bin, the right-click menu shows up after 10 sec then it would actually open after another 10 secs
Cpl Ledanek 247
report from Hijackthis: link
Dannik 43
As far as I can tell, your Hijack log is completely clean, or at least every process listed is legitimate. There's nothing there that under normal operation, should be causing your slowdown. You might have luck changing UAservice7 from Automatic to Manual start, in the Services control panel (Start -> Run -> 'services.msc') which would prevent it from running unless an application actually called for it. This may also break some games, but setting it back to automatic would fix that.
firefly2442 0
Maybe check "msconfig" and see what is starting up when you boot the computer?
Cpl Ledanek 247
ok, still running defrag since last night and some of the hang ups are still there, but better than yesterday. Whats a good FREE diagnostic tool to see what else is doing the bottleneck or hangups? Demos even.
Tommy35 0
This may be nothing but in the hijack log it says, Platform: Windows XP SP1. Would not having SP2 have anything to do with your hangup's? Dannik?

How do I get there?

Cpl Ledanek 247
another idea I had, coz these constant reboot and CHKDSK is driving me nuts. I went to the mobo and reset it--- by the battery. I did notice one of the memory is loose, so reinserted it again and locked it. Now my CMOS/BIOS I forgot which is which is reset---my date on mobo is Jan 1 2002. Now I'm waiting for it to boot again. First thing it did was another CHKDSK, reboot....I'm going to get another beer....
Cpl Ledanek 247
update, I cleared the CMOS, removed one memory module, F2 to BIOS, set everything to Automatice or whatever default it, F10 exit, restart, got to the Windows splash screen with scrolling signal at the bottom....then it hanged, clicked, rebooted automatically, restarted normally, USB keyboard not working, so I had to wait for the seconds to countdown to restart, then came to the baby blue colors of CHKDSK....AAARRRRGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cpl Ledanek 247
I'm not sure why its doing this lately, but I'm stuck on eternal CHKDSK, reboot, USB kb not working, so it reboots normally, helplessly watching the countdown to reboot, making it the Window XP Pro welcome splash screen then A LOUD click, reboots again to CHKDSK. Before I resort to reformatting the HD, what is the default BIOS for this motherboard? So this way when I go into the BIOS I know what to enter. Previously, I was adviced to keep settings to Aggressive due to my memory modules. Thats the only thing I remember about the BIOS settings. My specs: A7N8X delux rev 1 BIOS 1007 WinXP PRO SP 1 (cannot go SP 2 due peripheral incompatibilities) 1GB Corsair XMS 3200 2xCMX512-3200C2PT 400MHz BFG 128MB 6600 OC GT AGP 1.8GHz AMD XP thanks in advance
Cpl Ledanek 247
I cleared the CMOS once again, removed one memory module. I got into the BIOS and changed the order of boot to CD-ROM. I placed my WinXP CD-ROM there and booted on Recovery Console. This part I always forget: 1: C:\WINDOWS Which Windows installation would you like to log onto (To cancel, press ENTER)? ------What do I do here? I pressed one (1) and is asking me: Type the Administrator password: -------I'm the only one using this and I cannot recall placing a password -------I tried just hitting Enter C:\WINDOWS> -----now what? Cpl Ledanek 247
From the ARS when booting from WXP PRO, I picked this up from Google, CHKDSK /R and after a few hrs I learn that there are one or more unrecoverable sector. Ok, now I know the problem. Whats the solution? Can CHKDSK be turned of from this prompt/console? This way when I reboot in safe mode, I can actually go all the way to desktop instead of "almost to" Windows log in, then automatically rebooting. thanks in advance
