It's so choppy that it's unplayable.

AMD 64 3500+

2 GB OCZ Dual Channel Platinum

(2) eVGA 6600 256 MB in SLI mode

All graphics set to low running at 800 x 600.

Thats odd. Im running AMD 2400, 1.5gb ddr , 6600 128bit and onboard sound on medium and its not choppy at all.

Okay I´m back! That game ****ing rocks! I´ve been playing for hours on hard and the enemy AI is EVIL. They split up, flak you, and sometimes even run around a whole block to shot you from behind. :o The gameplay is very intense and very good if you are like tactical shooters, and the sounds are superb. I´m surprised how good it runs maxed out at 1280x720 with 4AF on my ageing computer (XP2700, 1GB, 6800 w128MB). Congrats to GRIN, thats one kick ass game! :D Back to the game.... bye.

Sup tech...SOUFF

I just got done playing for about 20mins and i have to say the Friendly AI are smart, leaning, suppressive fire and taking out enemy..but they on more than 1 occasion unload on walls right next to me.

Another thing i dont which ive seen mostly everyone else say is the ingame mouse seems a to swivel more. GR1 you could turn around and it would stop exactly where you stopped the mouse, this seems to slow down to a stop.

Last two things i didnt like was the Weapon Change and Frag Throw. It took to long to press F then scroll down sometimes id scroll past my secondary getting a grenade. Id also like to see the grenade throw, throw when i let up on the mouse so i can hold it until im certain i want to throw it.

Other than that i like it..need to upgrade my pc to play it better but i like it. :grin3:

It's a great game. But it went exactly as I thought. It has that console feel to it. Notice the field of view (FOV). It's crap, looks like I'm playing Halo 2 or something. It needs to be at least 90.

I noticed that too, not sure how many degrees field of vision they are using. I do know that in Call of Duty it's locked at 80 degrees and you don't notice it at all. In Quake you can't play with 80/90 fov at all, people usually have 100-130 there.

In GRAW it feels i am running around "zoomed" - it doesn't really bother me that much. but if it can be adjust.. i would do it.

So perhaps grin can make it a bit higher because I don't think it's a clientsetting in the xml..

Now ive played more things that niggle me more :

Tactical Map :

When I want to move the map around in GR1 I could use w/s/a/d left right up and down, but its arrow keys which is slow for realtime .. binding this map movement to other than arrows would be great.

Also unless im mistaken when you select a team mate in tactical map and your zoomed in viewing your position, when you slect a team mate thats out of the current map view it doesnt seem to auto locate/scroll to that selected team mate. Ive had to manualy go to arrow keys and then move the map to that position which is realy slow to quickly set a waypoint.

Also ... why is it even though my team and myself have not located enemy you can see them waiting for you on the tactical map (not a diamond but a full body representation) .. surely you have not seen them yet for them to be shown?

Like GR1 can there be a quick map view key also, so i can move and then tap a key to see map while key is held down as i move & then map off as i release?

When you have Ghost Team selected (not just one member but the actual team) and you set a way point ... whay cant I chain them like I can for an indivdual? Is this a case of Team AI will deal with cover? I would like to be able to place a waypoint chain for my team if possible.

Weapon selection :

Secondry weapon etc selection isnt great / very clunky, having each weapon under 3 keys would be better option or like GR1 under 1 key be able to scroll/toggle through your kit fast .. tap, tap, tap ... each tap is a change of weapon. Though as with team selection 1/2/3 .. it would be good for weapons to be similar.

Cross com of team mates :

When you have a team mate selected you can press "g" to view his headcam ... can it be changed so that if i say page-up / page-down I can switch to head cam of other team mates without pressing "g" coming out .. selecting team mate and pressing "g" again? UPDATE: realise we have 1/2/3 (oops) but maybe a bind to one key to scroll through em aswell? IE: I set tab and when I press "g" and im viewing headcam .. tab will then scroll through my team downward through members from the member its currently viewing kind of thing.

Menus :

When I select my middle mouse button to set a task and I click it without realising I have to scroll to the bottom to select "cancel" ... is there a quicker way to kill the menu? I thought re-clicking middle mouse wheel would switch off but that actualy executes the top highlighted action. So far I quickly tab and tab again so the map kills it.

Are these quick menu actions available to set to a key? So maybe my most used ones can be bound to something else other than just this way to access them?

If I have missed something and this can be done then let me know

Wow, I need a new computer. It runs at 800x600 and most settings on low but still pretty choppy.

Pentium 4 - 3.0Ghz w/HT

2 GB RAM

Radeon 9800 PRO 128MB

Time to get the latest drivers from ATI, maybe that will help. I have to say, what I've seen is pretty sweet. Wish I had a better vid card... :(

I thought about this before...

Where would you bind this? I mean, you can have a normal rifle, a pistol, grenade and a smokegrenade [thats the max you can carry i believe]! How can you bind all this on seperate buttons.

Ok, on the numeric keys 1, 2, 3 and 4. But 1-3 is used for the bots..

Maybe a "switch to other weapon key" (Rifle -> Pistol)

But you still have a fragnade and smokenade left.. unbinded :P

I don't like that menu that much really, in MP games you need something immediatly. No scrolling and clicking, just 1/2 buttons. Maybe 1 button for the guns and 1 button for the nades

Calius, I think you presented your thoughts very well aslo and I agree. Alot of people here should take it as an example, You didn't insult the current Idea, but made suggestions how to improve them without sounding frustated or childish.

A64 X2 4200+, 2GB Kingston, GeForce 6800 Ultra, Audigy2 ZS

The game runs really well for me with medium to high settings. I just played part of the demo and so far it is awesome. There are so many things I like about it. Great job GRIN. :grin1:

Athlon64 3000+ OCed to 2.4ghz (from 1.8ghz)

X800XL

1GB Mushkin RAM

Ran butter smooth with every option at the highest settings. Can't wait to see the game with High textures. Game looked great except for the jaggies (but when the bullets start flying, all I think about is how to flank, not about how many jaggies I can see).

Controls were good, and felt smooth to me, although as people said, the mouse does feel weird (but hardly detracts from the game). AI is good, especially when I figured out how to use the command map efficiently. Weapon switching is a pain, but I don't think it's as bad as people are saying (although on second thought, it would suck in multiplayer).

I've only played about 15 minutes, but I think GRIN has done a fantastic job with GR:AW and I will be getting this game ASAP.

Played the game just for 10 minutes.. and all I can say is WOW..! I'm from the Old GR School and I think this game is going to rock... I love the look and feel. I can tell right away I'll be playing this game for a long time if they bring the TvT patch and if the netcode is good to handle at least 16 players.

Only bad thing I see is the already known jaggies...

My Specs:

AMD 64 opterOwn 175 @ 2.7 Dual Core

XFX 7800 GT

Longtime lurker who just registered here, having trouble with resolutions, and some surprise at the lack of performance on my system. My system:

AMD X2 4200+

2 7800 GT's in SLI Mode (just updated driver)

2gb RAM

Dell 20" widescreen (16:10) with native res of 1680 x 1050

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm unable to play at the proper aspect ratio nor native resolution of my monitor. The highest res offered is 1280 something or other, and the only aspect ratio's are 4:3, 5:4, and 16:9 (which is probably close enough I guess), but running in a lower, non-native res it just looks awful on my screen. GR1 gave me no problems on my widescreen, so I'm hoping I'm missing something here.

Also, I thought my system would handle this at full res with medium settings like a knife through hot butter. It's definitely not. I'll need to play more with settings before I come to any big conclusions, but this game definitely seems to demand A LOT.

On the plus side, gameplay is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

ya the jagged-ness is really bad as you can see from this SS i took http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/1210/untitled6mv.jpg

(look at the poles and buildings)

the lights fell down from when i threw a nade :)

also am i supposed to be moving really slow when i walk? It seems like my guy is taking baby steps.

toggle through keys V and C or B ( I forget!) and they change your stances, which will stop the baby steps thing lol

Been playing Coop useing Hamachi for the last 4 hours.... Little to no lag, and great great game play.

AMD 3200

1.5 gigs ram

6600gt 128ram card

Good:

Everything seems to flow well. The lag people are talking about i get none of.

AI is WAAAAAAYYYYY better then past games.

An hard the AI puts up a helluva fight.

Load times... What load times.

Bad:

I HATE the way you switch weapons.... it simply gets a person killed.

Nade throwing.... not a bad so much as really need to get used to it.

Squad control.... VERY VERY disapointed. The tac map works great but the command on the fly leaves MUCH to be desired. Why not a popup like Swat 4? its there, order is given it is gone.... much more efficient.

the movie... at the start of each mission on multiplayer...

please tell me the enemy locations will change more in the full version...

Oooh mikey, me rikey!

I didn't futz around much with the settings, just tested the default ones I got. On my system:

A64 3500+

2x512MB RAM (Corsair UL)

7800GTX

It ran smooth as silk and pretty enough, even without upgrading video drivers which I will. :)

The body has weight (as well as, well, a body and legs and feet) and this is taking some getting used to, but I love the feel it's imparted. I also have to get used to using the "change stance" system instead of having a one-key crouch...perhaps my only gripe, but it's been good to lean UP over something too.

And heck, I did more running in GR1 than I did here. Definately have to be cautious which is good. I'm a big fan of no FPW, mostly because I "don't think it" when I'm concentrating down range...but damn, I like this. RSE once said they took it out of R6 (you can re-enable it in the original if you play around) because they wanted to do it right and the resources just werent there. Well this feels this feels pretty well damn done.

Gotta go back and play around with it some more, experiment more with the AI both friendly and not, but I'm loving this demo so far. Job well done.

Does the Drone work?

It does not appear for me.

The mission ends when Mitchell dies. Any way to "jump" to another soldier?

Positive

Love the sounds

The lights, shadows, bullet impacts and explosions

The AI seems better although I did dnot experience any flanking yet

The sniper can shoot through thin pieces of concrete (corner)

Not so good

Seems a little bit greedy on the hardware side

When a soldier runs out of ammo I does not shut up and continue saying he is reloading. Quite annoying.

The grenade launcher will require some practise before being able to aim correctly

Since you use SLI; make sure the game uses the AFR SLI mode, but to do that you need to create a new profile as the default setting is the SFR SLI mode. Not sure about your 16:10 issue though.

First Impressions

I've played for about 30 min now. Well some of my fears were put to rest, and others confirmed.

The good:

Team is quite easy to command and pretty smart. They and take cover and cover you. nice. I'm not much of a tactics guy but I've had fun ordering them into position using the quick commands. STill need to get the hang of the tac map though.

Graphics are pretty cool, but any res under 1280x1024 looks severly jagged without having the ability to use AA. I tried 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024 with various settings. I'm running an x850xt and the performance is about what you'd expect. 8x6 is very smooth but ugly, 1024 is good looking but takes a hit in perfomance(given the speed of this game though it doesn't seem to be much of an issue); 1280 is real nice looking but frames are sickly low.

FYI, if you run your graphics at a higher setting than your system can handle you get that mouse movement problem. I turned my graphics down and had no issues.

I'd really like to be able to use some AA. I'm going to turn off the dynamic lighting and see if that lets me.

Firefights are fun and you really do need to take cover! Explosions and destroying objects are extremely fun! I can only imagine what an MP match would turn into. Insanity I tell you!

Movement is easy to get used to for me. I had no troubles adjusting. Sometimes I'd hit the wrong key but stuff can be remapped. Fun times for me. Movement reminds me of America's army so it was no problem gettin used to it.

Cross com cam is pretty cool, but I don't use it much.

Sound is awesome for the most part. I turned the music down though cause that was getting on my nerves overwhelming all the sounds.

The Bad:

Even though my hardware is set to 6x AA, I'm not getting any. Dunno if that's cause of the dynamic lighting or what.

There was one time that I got stuck in a corner where it was just a half a foot wall where the tree was and I couldn't get over it so I had to walk out into the open to get around it. That bothers me. I'd like a step over button or something.

Sometimes in a big gun fight it just sounds like a mess of noise that borders on static rather gun fire.

no MP :(

Not sure how I feel about the prone thing. It makes sense in a way, but it's hard to tell. Seems like if you can see over an edge you'd be able to shoot, but at the same time your gun is an object so it would hit the ground. it's really not as bad as people think it is. it makes sense if you really think about it. If you're laying on a vertical plane, you're not going to be able to shoot over an edge or aim over the top of the edge. You'd have to get in crouch to aim over an edge. So really it feels weird, but makes sense.

Thanks for the help, but I'm not sure I follow. I've looked at video options (basic and advanced) and nowhere can I find a setting to change from SFR to AFR. I don't even know what those modes are. I created a new profile and then went back to the video settings again but no added settings to screw around with. And as far as far as resolutions go, why is the highest resolution allowable to me 1280 by XXXX (I forget exactly). This has got to be an error of some kind, either on the game or with my system, right? There've got to be people out there who want to play it at 1600x1200 (or in my case 1680 x 1050). GR1 allowed this, and almost all new games do, so GRAW must as well, I assumed.
