capteenix
,Apr 21 2006, 01:13 PM] I have 2 questions here and Thanks in advance BTW... 1) If respawns are turned Off in DOM and future TDM modes, Will you be able to spectate your teammates? (During clan matches it's nice to be able to spectate your mates just like GR1 and R6 series). 2) Will be any type of tactical explosives like C4's for MP games? Best Regards... ← C4, no. answer: while you plant it your dead
big_perm
Would be nice to have the option of turning friendly markers off, for league matches, i hope we can. ← I'm not sure thats such a good idea, as seen in the screenshot http://www.ghostrecon.com/ss/GRAW_PC_MP_01_10241.jpg The mex & us looks alot alike, especially on movement, and I cant seem to see any radar with your teammates on it (unless you see them on the domination one, which I cant). turning them off would be horror to walk around corners, you gonna pop on every sound next to you and teamkilling would increase substantialy ← What is that laying on the groud on the right just under the furthest right enemy? That looks like one fat ass soldier tits up. Or is that 2 soldiers? I cant tell. Edited April 21, 2006 by big_perm

QB-Paladin
Maybe this has been asked elsewhere, but the key thing I have concerns over is that in the co-op game, it says the server host is always the team leader. 1) How will this work when (or if) dedicated servers become available? 2) What do we do if the server host is hosting solely because they have the best connection, rather than being a good team leader? Everything else I'm reading sounds great, and I am so looking forward to this game. Just curious how this will affect co-op play.

ruggbutt
Howbout more info on dedicated server files? As we all know, it's the private owners who put up public dedicated servers that give the community places to play. With the advanced physics sending more data transmission the guy with his home internet connection is gonna be hard pressed to host a lag free game. The 4 player Coop is a perfect example of how many people are going to be able to play online with an in home hosted game. To run decent servers more bandwith is needed. Additionally, even if UBI puts up some servers they'll be taxed to the limit with the release of GRAW. As it has with every other UBI release, the hosted servers often suffer neglect by not being rebooted for a week. As all you dedicated server guys know, it's best to reboot the dedi once a day. For those that don't know, the dedicated servers are what helped spread the GR experience like wildfire. They're part of the package that made GR m/p legedary. I thought you might have already read that This is in Development ?? We already know Ubisoft dont release info on ongoing work, as normal. If Im not mistaken GR1 did not have this type of support at the start did it ?? The thread above also explains why some stuff is in on release and some stuff is not. As far as indevidual hosting is concerned, the server settings in the game will allow you to host with no issues, once you have worked out what is good for you indevidual sys. WDA_CaM
Bring it on! I can't wait no matter what MP game modes are in the out of the box edition! I personally think if they say they're going to patch to inclued LMS and TDM, so long as it gets done thats good enough, beside we don't want the Devs to release the same old GR with a little more eye candy? We all want the same old GR with Eye Candy and some new stuff rite? redoing the old game styles is the easy part, so why not put it in a patch! Or would you all rather wait till August? like i said BRING IT ON! game modes are squat ot ad in after, the first gr proved that! P.S.Y'all better watch though Boys, half of WDA has already pre-ordered! Hehehe!

Honestly, I'm as tired of getting the same responses (or lack thereof) as some people are of getting the same questions. This isn't GR1, so the comparison is getting tiresome. GR1 didn't require the server to have special hardware (nor does RvS or BF2). I'm hosting BF2 (yes, it's ranked) on the EXACT same machine I was hosting GR on 2 years ago. If you have to make a comparison to another game, the info we are currently getting concerning hosting an MP game sounds exactly like Lockdown. Trust me when I say I want to be wrong about this, but I don't want to waste my time or my teammates money if we cannot host a server (without considerable expense and labor). The questions were simple, polite, and on topic. If the focus is going be turned to how or where they were asked, as seems to be the norm lately, then I don't know what else to say. I WANT this game to succeed. I'm simply asking if it will be possible for me to be a component of that success by offering a VIABLE place for the members I serve to play and compete. We've just leased a brand new dedi server ourselves, specifically for Ghost Recon, and now we don't even know if the hardware will support GRAW It's about as frustrating as it gets, but all we know is the dev team know of our concerns, they know we are all asking this specific question, but for reasons unknown, there is no answer forthcoming. Gr1 did need special hardware... remember 16mb video card or above to host? btw didn't know if you knew this, but 32 or 64mb cards actually made the server perform better. get a cheap 6200 256mb card for your server (like 60$) and you will be fine for now with your old GR1 server. They said the requirements wasn't as high as the gaming machine video wise. GRIN pm'd me on my question of release. currently you need a seperate purchased copy for the server. Dedicated files are in the works though. That's about as honest as a dev can be. And no i ain't a fan boy LOL! i am looking forward to the patch for LMS but untill then i'll be playing whatever it comes with. [RS]Stalker
Roco, my GR server used an on-board graphics adapter. That ain't special. It doesn't matter if the video card costs $600, $60 or .60 cents if it won't fit in the standard 1U rack-mounted server chassis used by most dedicated server providers (if they would even agree to install it). Also, having to buy a retail copy of the game for each server is just plain ridiculous.
